Tomasso Trattoria Ratings and Reviews
We went with a work group for an evening team dinner. The restaurant had our table waiting when we arrived. The server was energetic, knowledgeable of the menu/specials, recommended some great Italian red wines, and was attentive to our needs.
The specials were great-- seasonal appetizers/mains and burrata caprese were all delish. The pasta was homemade. The chicken pargm was the right size portion for a plate-- not small at all and definitely not super sized. My colleague's pork chop looked amazing and there was nothing left on that plate when he finished. Another colleague asked for a vegetarian option to one of the menu items and the restaurant was more than able to accommodate her needs. The desserts were equally delish- cannoli came on a plate with 3 minis for easy sharing.
Will definitely go back. We had a great time.
We went there for my birthday. Food was delicious. First we were sat down by the kitchen prep area. I did not like staring in to the stainless steel kitchen area for my birthday dinner. A little bit noisy. We asked to be moved to the other dining area which was very nice.
We went here and took advantage of their happy hour half off appetizers and pizzas, what a great deal! And of course the bar beverages were delicious. Service was good, but we found ourselves waiting for drinks to come from the bar more than twice - and they weren't overly busy.
Would be interested in trying out their main dining room next time since we've heard great things about their food.
Hadn't been in a few weeks so was overdue for a visit here... and was reminded why I like it so much. Excellent chow and service. Tonight's pork chop special was right on the mark... love that dish. Meatballs, salads, and pastas also great. Salmon they ordered as well and they loved it.
We have been plenty of times and have always loved it here. It's probably been about a year since we have been previously. Not sure what happened this time, but all our food(2 apps and 2 dinners) was bland, not cooked well and ok at best. These were meals we ordered and loved previous times too. They only had about 5 beer options and they were allodd and not appealing. We ordered sangria(which we loved from here in the past) and it was horrendous. We sent it back and tried to order something different, but they insisted on trying to fix it, but the new glass was basically just the same thing but with a ton of sprite. We ordered a margarita and it tasted like pure generic margarita mix and wasnt good either. We tried ordering a monitor, but they didn't have any mint leaves. It was just so weird. Also, the place was empty when it had always been packed previously. The wait staff was good and friendly at least. I don't know if it is new ownership and they are still trying to find their groove or if we just caught them on a bad night, but unless we start seeing a ton of great recent reviews again, I don't think we will be going back, which is sad because it was one of our favorite special date night places.
I was traveling and meeting up with some friends and chose this place due to it's proximity to my hotel. Turned out better than we'd expected! Our waiter, Ryan was outstanding! He gave us the right amount of attention and was very good with recommendations. I didn't see exactly what I was looking for on the menu and they accommodated me with a dish of pasta with sauce and meatballs. We all had dessert and they were delicious!!! I highly recommend the molten lava cake, if you love chocolate. The only negative was we were at a table very near the noisy and busy kitchen area. That particular table is not desirable, so if you have any special requests when you make your reservation just asked to be away from the kitchen/serving area! The locals that I went with will certainly be going back.
Our first time at Tomasso and it was a great one. We took advantage of the dinner and show deal in conjunction with Steeple Coffeehouse, and the value was great! The amount of and quality of the food far exceeded the price of the ticket! Ryan's service was wonderful, attentive and humorous, and all other staff were friendly and welcoming. Definitely would go back! Thank you!
Not a great night @ Tomasso. Friday was a tag team affair with lots of bumping. Specials were gone early. The courses were particularly bland. Mushroom fettuccini lacked any flavor ... not even Parmesan. The misto salad was essentially olive oil. The cod was overcooked and served with unflavored kale or cabbage. The pork was overcooked and .... you guessed it ... bland. We have had many good apps and entrees in the past. We must have picked badly. If you get stuck ... the pizza with mushrooms used to have flavor.
Great dining experience. I've been coming here for years. Have never had a bad meal or service. Mike and Jeremy do a great job running this restaurant, with a staff that is pleasant, professional and go that extra mile to make your dining experience unforgettable. Thank you all again for great service.
You can't go wrong with anything on there menu. The Lamb loin Porterhouse chops are to die for. So get out and enjoy this fine cuisine.
If you are looking for a good neighborhood authentic Italian restaurant, Tomasso Tratoria is your place. I appears that many of the patrons are routine diners, which tells me it's constantly good. I was in the area for a hockey tournament and found this restaurant on Open Table. It proved to be a good choice.
Delicious, and so reasonably priced! We had not been back to Tomasso for many years, and remembered it being excessively expensive. Yet our meals were very fairly priced, everything was still homemade (even the pasta), and everyone's meal was delicious! The Bolognese was outrageously great (and enormous), with chicken liver mixed into the sauce to give it incredible unctiousness. The tomahawk steak for two was fantastic, and a value compared to any downtown steakhouse! Warm, friendly, family-style atmosphere. This is officially our new neighborhood restaurant!
We dined at Tomasso for Mother's Day brunch. It was very busy and we felt like the service showed that they were maxed out. No syrup came out with the pancakes, no butter came with the bread basket, had to ask for pepper, the toast was well done, nearly burnt. Not the service we have experienced at Tomasso before. At the end of our meal, we could feel our waitress staring at us and we left with the impression that they wanted to move us along. I understand the need to turn tables over but the customer should never feel like that are no longer welcome. Gratuity was added in to our bill (party of 6) which was clearly stated. We did not feel the service warranted leaving more.
We had brunch at Tomasso's for Mother's Day. It was lovely even on a rainy day. The service and food were excellent. Our waitress was great and very patient with my 2 year old Grandson. The prices were a bit high, but the quality was excellent. We save this restaurant for special ocassions.
First time to Tomasso Trattoria. Had heard many very good things about the restaurant, so we felt we needed to give it a try. We visited on a Saturday evening and the joint was hopping. We were seated at a table directly across from the kitchen serving station. The place was already operating at an elevated ambient noise level due to the many large parties celebrating various things, but being across from the kitchen serving zone pushed things beyond reasonable. We made the best of it, but our son made frequent trips back to the relatively quiet waiting area because the noise at the table was too much. Service was generally slow. I suspect it was the number of large parties, but after being greeted fairly quickly and having drink orders taken, it took at least 15 minutes for the cocktails to arrive. One was incorrect - A Negroni Bianco was brought instead of the standard Negroni that was ordered. The offer of a new cocktail was made, but having never tried a Bianco, we gave it a whirl. The standard Negroni is preferred, but the experience was worthwhile. The balance of our order was taken - apps and entrees - and again, we waited a noticeable time before apps arrived. We had the Burrata, Calamari and Baby Octopus. All were good, but not outstanding. We had ordered a bottle of wine but had to ask twice to have it brought to the table. It did arrive just before the entrees, but barely. We had the Filet special, the Bolognese, Chicken Parmesan and Penne Aribata. All were fine, except the Bolognese, which the server claimed was "the best in Boston, hands down." The Bolognese was dry, lacking any real sauce. The flavors were great, but the tagliatelle was matted and over-cooked. I think it sat on a warming shelf too long. The server offered to have it fixed, but I had already eaten half the dish. Desserts were awesome - Lava Cake was incredible. Gelato and Sorbet were okay. Great Grappa list. Overall a good experience, but rough in places. May try again on a weeknight.
The special was a really nice balsamic reduction on filet, available gluten free.
I wasn't super inspired by the sides that came with the filet.
The starters were good, several different salads, I liked the insalata amara, although dressing was really light on all salads (or perhaps not dressed at all?), enough so that someone at the table asked for more dressing.
Gnochetti Primavera was good, but I wanted a bit more peas in it.
We love coming here on Mondays when its a little quieter. Tonight I wanted to try the new pizza I saw when I was here last week... called "Capricciosa"... garlic cream, asparagus, speck, fried egg, fontina, Grana Padano. It was excellent! Another new dish... the Gnochetti Primavera...
small gnocchi with asparagus, peas, wild mushrooms, and roasted tomato... was also superb! Our standard meat balls and a burrata salad completed another excellent meal here. Perfect service!
Had a fantastic meal here on Patriots Day. Kudos to the owner, Tom Prince, who gives back to the community on this day every year by offering residents/workers in Southborough 50% off food. Thanks for doing that!
I've stated this before. If they have the pork chop on the menu...order it! Was a special tonight so it made my choice an easy one... and it was a thing of beauty! Called "Costoletta di Maiale"... a grilled heritage pork chop, served with a side of fingerling potatoes and a cabbage slaw salad... was a great combo. Everything was perfectly cooked... went well with a Peroni.
Meat balls (awesome as always) and an order of Bucatini pasta completed a great evening. Service from Ryan was excellent. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
Saturday evening, we had reservations at 7 pm and were promptly seated. Interesting titbit - they offer a discount (think 10%) if seated before 6 pm and after 8 pm.
Been to Thomasso's many times; as always it was good. We like that they keep finding new twists to the refined Italian food that they serve.
We had salad, pasta and salmon - all very good. We ordered biscotti for desert - what was placed in front of us were different types of cookies, fudge, etc and not the true Italian biscotti. The cookies were good, but we were a tad disappointed in it getting the 'real biscotti'.
