We started with their ahi sesame cones. We had an excellent bottle of Pinot Noir from their wine list of 12 choices. The special of the day, that we ordered, was soft shell crab, polenta, Palm hearts, corn cream sauce and one small slice of Spivey salami was a perfect combination. For dessert we had the pistachio phyllo crush with fresh berries and an incredible raspberry mousse.
Fantastic food, service, and environment!
Our server Cullen made our experience very enjoyable, pleasurable and special as we were celebrating a birthday and graduation. The food presentation was very nice and the setting made it a memorable occasion as well. Cullen did a great job on menu knowledge, friendliness and overall service. The other waitstaff were great as well.
Great location and excellent service. The food however was hit and miss. The Ahi tuna cone appetizer was outstanding and the braised short ribs were very good, but both pasta dishes were just ok
Terrific, local, personable - one of our perennial favorites!
We been here 1 year before, service was great - real Italian atmosphere, very nice headwaiter and waiter. Now personal is different and service is worse. But food is very good, thank you.
Great restaurant in awesome location!
Although there was not a Child at that time for Dinner, they made my 4-year Old son welcome with books and kid’s things and the Food was great
A perfect evening - food was memorable (especially the hamachi appetizer), a great wine list and excellent service. Though there were a number of larger parties (graduation night?), our service for two was attentive and exactly right. We had a table by the window which was quieter and a nice view of the harbor. Absolutely will return - I wish we had found this on our previous trips to Santa Barbara - was highly recommended by concierge at Bacara
We had a amazing Dinner for our quest Anniversary, unfortunately we had requested a window view a month before.we arrived from Phx Az and we were not accommodated..very disappointed..and the hosted was not apologetic..
The restaurant has a great location and was full of people. The staff was nice enough. But sadly, the food was just not good.
great ! food was so good our waiter was the nicest guy sorry can't remember his name but he made sure our experience was the best
A perfect setting, table for 2 at the window that was partially opened, fresh air dining along
the beach, jst across the street. blossoms are seasonal and a must have! the tuna cones I remembered from th elast vist and they're great. boris was a great server and oiur desserts
were both tasyty, liked mine best!!!! relaxing and a great end to the week!!!
We go to Toma whenever we go to Santa Barbara. We love the grilled Octopus as an appetizer it is our favorite. The menu is varied enough to allow us to eat something different each time. We have always thoroughly enjoyed every combination. The servers were excellent in their knowledge, attentiveness to our needs. We love the atmosphere and the food, mostly the food.
My wife and I treated our daughter and her husband to a fantastic evening at Toma. The service was superb as our waiter Trey was quite engaging and saw to our every need. Starting with the Ahi Tuna Cones and Squash Blossoms, the mains of Alaskan halibut, Gnoochi and Scoglio with a big side of french fries shared by all, the meal was absolutely wonderful! I highly recommend this true Santa Barbara gem.
Excellent service, view, and food. Loved the menu!
As always the lamb chops were amazing. My husband had a fish special that was incredible too! The tuna cones are excellent to start!
Food is excellent and service is the best!
Beautiful night, food, and service. Our favorite place in Santa Barbra. We've gone for our last two anniversaries!
We have been going to restaurants every day for two months and this is one of the weakest
Dishes are too complicated in which it was impossible to recognize the tastes of foods....
The artichokes as appetizers, the seafood dish and the fish as a suggestion of the day were all dull.
In the seafood dish, the scallops and the crabe advertised on the menu were invisible
The dish of vegetables taken as side was composed of a pile of vegetables almost not cooked for some and the broccoli abounded with water ...
We did not dare take desserts
This restaurant is a short walk around the corner from the hotel at which we were staying....perfect after a long day of sight seeing. We were greeted and seated immediately near the bar. The waiter placed a small dish of olives, that had been stuffed with blue cheese, then dipped in a light batter and deep fried, in front of us along with a small basket of their house made bread and butter with Hawaiian sea salt sprinkled on top of the butter. He then gave us a run down on the evenings specials. For my meal, I chose the special of halibut with cherries over fingerling potatoes and the house smoked bacon with a pesto drizzle which I paired with a glass of Valpolicella Ripasso recommended by our waiter. My husband chose a spinach fettuccine covered with a variety of seafood along with a glass of a red blend. He said there must have been scallops in every bite there were so many. We did not order any side dishes nor did we have room left for dessert. Everything we tasted was delicious and the presentation was beautiful. The Valpolicella paired perfectly with the halibut dish. All in all it was an excellent meal.
We visit Toma often, food is outstanding, atmosphere is great, our favorite server Cullen is fantastic.
My husband and I just went there on 6-2-18 to celebrate our anniversary, the service is always great. The restaurant is small and quaint and well decorated.
I ordered the scallops with mashed potatoes and there was asparagus. My husband ordered the special it was halibut with roasted potatoes, my scallops were perfect, potatoes great. Asparagus kinda over cooked.
My husbands halibut he said was just ok, cooked well, but it was the tail end so a thin piece, he said his potatoes were dry, over cooked.
Deserts were great, had the olive oil cake and chocolate lava cake.
So over all I would give our dinner a 3 and half stars, because my husband wasn’t to satisfied with his.
Visiting Santa Barbara from NYC for business. Toma was highly reviewed on the various review sites so my wife and I decided to give it a try. Overall a very good restaurant and pleasant dining experience. The service is outstanding, friendly and professional in every respect.
We arrived a little earlier than our reservation, but we were seated immediately by the nice hostess and greeted by the manager. The ambiance is too plain for my taste but nevertheless fit in perfectly in light of the restaurant’s location.
The food is very good. Portions are substantial. We had the lasagna which was the most outstanding dish of the evening. The ravioli less so. It was a bit bland in my opinion. For appetizers, I highly recommend the delicious and perfectly fried calamari and the artichoke. Both are excellent with a nice crunchy exterior and tender interior.
The prices are very fair considering the quality of the food and the size of the portions. We were full and skipped dessert. A solid restaurant that I recommend.
My son and I had so much fun celebrating my Birthday at Toma. Spectacular creative one of a kind menu itms beautifully presented. The chef is a flat-out genius, The service was better than any other fine dining I have ever experienced in my long life. Wonderful table with a window to the harbor that actually opened and closed. Just a fabulous evening. Be sure to try the sqash blossoms and the tuna cones. Even the bread is made right there. So wonderful.
One of our favorite restaurants in Santa Barbara, but one that is well known for its great service and food.
Food always outstanding but would like me more menu variety. Wines are overpriced.
This restaurant came highly recommended. We unfortunately had a bad experience with two of the entrees on the menu. The cioppini was not good and the broth had a strange, watered down flavor. I had to send it back. My mom ordered the black pasta and it was flavorless. It was also sent back. We were truly disappointed. Our server was incredibly friendly and helpful, so no problem with the service. He did ask if we wanted something else, so I ordered the rigatoni with sausage and that was good. He did take the cioppino off of the bill, but charged for the rigatoni and did not take the black spaghetti off of the bill.
Excellent quality of ingredients, great taste of dishes, keep it up!!!
Terrific Italian restaurant just north of State Stree in Santa Barbara located on Cabrillo Blvd in a cozy little spot. The food is really good everytime we have dined at Toma, the wine list is also quite good and the service is even better. This is one of our must go to places when we visit Santana Barbara.
Toma was, in a word, extraordinary! We relied on our expert server's recommendations, choosing Black Spaghetti and Lasagna. They were both outstanding. Champagne cocktail mixed perfectly, service was attentive but not overbearing, just a great experience. Desserts don't generally merit individual mention, but the Olive Oil cake was absolutely phenomenal. It's a must-try for anyone smart enough to choose Toma!
We have always enjoyed going to Toma, and our last dinner was no exception. As long as we can go to Santa Barbara we’ll definitely eat at Tomas.
Excellent food and service! Best meal on our stay in Santa Barbara, by far! Would highly recommend Toma. Pictured here are the scallops, so yummy 😋
Lovely. Even brought us a surprise strawberry birthday mousse with candle. Tune comes were amazing
Toma has a large variety of dining personalities ranging from the fun of the tuna cones to the exotic of the squash blossoms to the traditional of the braised beef short rib, to the incredible flavors of the best cioppino imaginable. It is absolutely our favorite restaurant.
Fan friggin tastic!! Every time!! We drive through Santa Barbara once a year just so we can eat here!
Great food and service. Looking forward to going back.
We had a wonderful evening!
We were celebrating our wedding anniversary. Food was good not great. Ordered halibut and was undercooked. Waiter asked me if I wanted to be cooked more or something else which I didn't.
Superb in every way ! Service was exceptional, food beautifully presented and all parties raved about each course from the complimentary blue cheese olives to the olive oil cake. Highly recommend!!!
