Toma Restaurant & Bar Ratings and Reviews
Food was really good. However, the service was sub-par. Our server came over at the beginning, never introduced himself, listed the specials while standing away from the table (which made it very difficult to hear him). He then came back to take our orders. We never saw him again until we were done with our entire meal. No one asked if we needed anything or how we were liking our food. After we were done eating, he asked my boyfriend if he wanted another drink, but didn’t even bother looking at me before walking away. We ordered dessert...and of course were offered coffee after we were finished with that. Everyone else at the restaurant seemed to be really enjoying their experience. I️ believe ours was very specific to the server we had. But after all, the service is so much of the experience. We are from out of town and we’re really looking forward to this meal, as this restaurant was highly recommended.
great food and service as always.... tried a new special at Waiter's suggestion (Sword Fish), and it was somewhere between 9.5-10.0 (as good a meal as I've ever had). Can't believe I was risking it not being as good as what I normally order (and I have to choose between three things--which is hard!)
We were promptly and cheerfully seated. The place was packed, lively. The service was quick, friendly and helpful. The food was expertly presented, perfectly prepared, and was delicious. The wine list was excellent, with plenty of local options at various price points. We can see why this place is rated #1 on Trip Advisor. Highly recommended.
Toma could not have been more delicious!!!! We are so happy we made a reservation! The service was incredible from the moment we walked in, and our server was so informative and gentle.
We enjoyed every part of our meal! And we appreciated the manager checking in on us once just to see if we were happy.
FANTASTIC PLACE OVER ALL! Drinks, food and ambiance 100% amazing!
We ate at TOMA 2 nights in a row while staying in Santa Barbara. Met the owner and he was delightful. My husband loves their Manhattans and even learned about the special Vermouth and cherries that they use. The food presentation and quality was exquisite. It's a pity that we live in Canada and likely won't be back for quite some time!
Toma is always wonderful!!! We had the ahi cones, which always delight everyone! Main courses we had lasagne, fresh fish and scallops. Each wonderful in it's own way and cooked to perfection! Wine selection is extensive, if a bit on the expensive side.
We will keep going there - for sure!
Bright, pleasant dining room, knowledgeable and attentive waiter, excellent food. The special this night was braised wild boar, and my was it good! The dining room seats a lot of people and was full, but the noise level was low and just fine for normal conversation. I look forward to returning on my next trip to Santa Barbara.
Excellent food in a great atmosphere! We started with the Burrata salad and bread - delicious! My wife had the stuffed pepper and I had the short rib. Both were excellently prepared and full of rich flavor. The service was attentive and friendly, but not intrusive. Bookmarked in Yelp for our next trip.
Wonderful as usual. The scallops and lasagna were great. Friends had the salmon, they noted to us it could have used lemon or more flavoring, but they didnt ask. I always adk for lemon with the seafood as it compliments so well and brings out the flavor.
Service was excellent as usual. This is one of our favorite places
On a recent trip to Santa Barbara we stopped into Toma for dinner. The friendly wait staff is attentive, professional and makes you feel right at home. We enjoyed the lasagna and the bolognese- both were very good. We also ordered the Tuna Cones, which are delicious, though they did seem more appropriate for a different type of restaurant. I would definitely recommend Toma for anyone looking for a good Italian meal and will definitely return again.
We loved our evening at Toma! The wait staff is wonderful and the owner came over and greeted us and chatted for a while. Very warm, very hospitable. The roasted chicken is amazing! It sounds ordinary but it is definitely not. Be sure to try the Ahi Tuna Cones--what a fun presentation and very tasty.
Made reservations roughly a month in a half in advance, requested a table with the window view for the special occasion, drove over 100 miles to reach the restaurant and was given the cramped table behind the door usually reserved for customers without reservations, and without any view other than the front door. Then we are asked to wait another hour just to get a different table. Sadly, I doubt I will spend another birthday at this restaurant.
