Toma Restaurant & Bar Ratings and Reviews
I have been to Toma many times. This was the first time my food was not up to par. I ordered the special (sole with shrimp and potatoes) and it arrived cool/room temperature. In retrospect I wish I had sent it back to be heated up, but it felt awkward at the time. However, the drinks, service and ambiance were excellent as always.
Greatly enjoyed our meal at Toma for the second year in a row when coming into town for Christmas shopping and spending the night nearby at the Hotel Milo. Great food, great Manhattans, and friendly chat with both our host and server!
We can hardly wait for next year!!
A birthday celebration with four adults having dinner. We shared two appetizers: the tuna cones (yummy); and the fried baby artichokes. Each couple shared the delicious rack of lamb, which is plenty large enough to share, consisting of eight separate ribs. That dish is truly special with a mild chili sauce. We had a Zinfandel wine that was the perfect compliment to the lamb.
This was our second visit to Toma. We leave in Orange County but Santa Barbara is one of our favorite places. This meal was just as wonderful as our first visit last year. The wedge salad is the best I have had anywhere and the scallops and lobster mashed potatoes were perfectly prepared. We appreciated the great service...never rushed and never ignored.
No doubt, we will be back!
Was visiting SB with my daughter and booked our dinner before I left Philadelphia based on the reviews. They were very accurate as this one of the best meals I've had out in some time and Philadelphia has some great restaurants! The wedge salad was delicious as was their homemade bread to go along with it. My daughter had their scallops with lobster mashed potatoes and I had their grilled swordfish with clams special on polenta in a putenesca sauce that was simply scrumptious. It was a wonderful dinner, all in all, and I'd go back in a second the next time I'm in Santa Barbara or anywhere nearby.
Never disappointed. Service was great. I'm a "New York Italian " and not many places in SB really hit the mark. Lasagna was on point. Ahi appetizer perfect light starter. Drinks great, price reasonable for level of quality and service. I've eaten there twice before and even had a small company holiday dinner there. Never disappointed. I almost hate to recommend this place because it's hard enough to get a reservation!
It was billed as the best restaurant in Santa Barbara. We did not eat at the others, but they could not be better than Toma. Even at a much higher price it would have still been great. Staff was friendly and the ambiance and food were extraordinary. We come to Santa Barbara once or twice a year and will now never eat anywhere else!
Service - from hostess to server to busser to manager was fantastic. Food peaked with the ‘arrival’ amusement of fried olives and artichoke appetizer. Swordfish was dry and at best warm and my wife’s chowder was bleak had had much more smoke than seafood flavor.
Food was really good. However, the service was sub-par. Our server came over at the beginning, never introduced himself, listed the specials while standing away from the table (which made it very difficult to hear him). He then came back to take our orders. We never saw him again until we were done with our entire meal. No one asked if we needed anything or how we were liking our food. After we were done eating, he asked my boyfriend if he wanted another drink, but didn’t even bother looking at me before walking away. We ordered dessert...and of course were offered coffee after we were finished with that. Everyone else at the restaurant seemed to be really enjoying their experience. I️ believe ours was very specific to the server we had. But after all, the service is so much of the experience. We are from out of town and we’re really looking forward to this meal, as this restaurant was highly recommended.
great food and service as always.... tried a new special at Waiter's suggestion (Sword Fish), and it was somewhere between 9.5-10.0 (as good a meal as I've ever had). Can't believe I was risking it not being as good as what I normally order (and I have to choose between three things--which is hard!)
We were promptly and cheerfully seated. The place was packed, lively. The service was quick, friendly and helpful. The food was expertly presented, perfectly prepared, and was delicious. The wine list was excellent, with plenty of local options at various price points. We can see why this place is rated #1 on Trip Advisor. Highly recommended.
Toma could not have been more delicious!!!! We are so happy we made a reservation! The service was incredible from the moment we walked in, and our server was so informative and gentle.
We enjoyed every part of our meal! And we appreciated the manager checking in on us once just to see if we were happy.
FANTASTIC PLACE OVER ALL! Drinks, food and ambiance 100% amazing!
We ate at TOMA 2 nights in a row while staying in Santa Barbara. Met the owner and he was delightful. My husband loves their Manhattans and even learned about the special Vermouth and cherries that they use. The food presentation and quality was exquisite. It's a pity that we live in Canada and likely won't be back for quite some time!
