About Tom Hams Lighthouse
Tom Ham’s Lighthouse was built in 1971 by a man who was not afraid to put his name on his product. Rooted in warm welcomes & excellent food, Tom Ham made his lifelong dream a reality. Tom Ham’s Lighthouse is the only restaurant in the US to have a USCG operated & maintained Lighthouse attached to it. You can locate us on any modern nautical map as Beacon #9. Featuring a 100% responsibly resourced seafood menu & award winning Sunday Champagne Brunch, we are a must when it comes to the San Diego food scene. The dining room, purposely shaped like the state of California, allows for groups as grand as 92 yet private enough for a couple’s night out. Holiday brunches have been long time family traditions for many San Diegans. Start your family’s tradition this next holiday. With the best views of the Downtown City Skyline, Coronado & San Diego Bay, Tom Ham's is & remains a San Diego tradition in dining excellence since 1971.

Tom Hams Lighthouse Ratings and Reviews
Everything from the ambiance to the value was great, truly a great experience. I preferred to be seated outside for the view and that's exactly where my date and I ended up. Our waiter was just simply amazing, couldn't ask for more (I believe her name was Ashley). I will definitely be coming back!
It had been over 30 years since I went to Tom Hams (used to take dates there in High School!). The food is still excellent and the service attentive. I had the Crab Louie salad which was deconstructed, but had plenty of fresh cherry tomatoes, grilled asparagus, hard boiled egg, avocado, a wedge of iceberg and a HUGE serving of crab meat. They serve it with a big dish of Louie dressing. Add the fresh, hot sourdough bread and compound butter - it was magnificent!
The restaurant is lively and we sat at an outdoor harbor view table that had a beautiful view of the skyline. The service was good but we felt the food was pretty average. It’s not cheap and from what we had been told about the high quality of taste of food, we were disappointed. It is a fun place to eat, but we won’t go back.
The food was delicious, as always. The view is amazing.
The service was terrible.
I made reservations for 12:30, Super Bowl Sunday for my friends birthday. There was a total of 4 people in the party. We all arrived on time and had to wait about 20-25 minutes for our table to be ready.
The waiter had to be asked multiple times for drink refills, ketchup, and Tabasco sauce. I had to take our dirty plates to the waiter station, while 2 staff members that were talking stood there watching me. No apologizes or anything.
The "surcharge" of 3% is ridiculous, as well. The price went up $5 per person (it's now 49.99) AND there is a 3% surcharge for increasing costs. Unacceptable.
Fantastic service and the best view in SD!!!! Our server was pleasant and very attentive. The food choices were also amazing. The chips for their ceviches were delish. I ordered the lobster roll and glad I did because it did not disappoint! Definitely will take someone special here over and over again. The view was just breathtaking!
Went for our anniversary and it happened to be Restaurant Week: 3 course meal for $40. We enjoyed the food but the real star (other than my date) was the spectacular view. An outdoor table is a must. Food was good for the value. Service from server was friendly and swift but busser was lacking. Perfect setting for our anniversary celebration.
This was the first time sicne moving to SD 10 years ago that I have ever been to Tom Hamms. I came here for my moms bday during restaurant week to try out the menu. I loved that the menu was extensive so that there were a lot of options to choose from! My server Eddie was amazing, he took really good care of us and made sure we had everything that we needed. The whole meal was phenomenal and I will return to check out the happy hour at some point. The bar area looked cozy yet social and the bartenders looked rather attentive so I will join them for a drink very soon!
The view is beautiful. Our waiter was polite however it seemed as if he was just too busy to provide quality service to all the guests considering how many other tables he was responsible for that night so he was rushing from one table to another. We ended up asking someone else to take a picture because we felt as if we were bothering him. He was nice though so I gave him a nice tip. When our dessert was brought over, a woman brought the dessert and placed the items on the table with no smile, didn't ask if we wanted coffee. She seemed miserable. Had to flag our waiter to ask for coffee. I've had better service at previous times I've eaten dinner at Tom Ham's. I was surprised when I walked into the restrooms. The wastebasket was knocked over and paper towels were every where. Bummer because it's a nice restaurant with very nice views.
We were by the open door, and even at noon on an average day, we had a cold breeze on us. We waited for lots of things - sometimes quite a while, and one request never did arrive. The lobster bisque and cioppino were very salty. The crab Louie was fantastic, filling, and had a LOT of very nice crab. The apple dessert and the blackberry dessert were yummy. Five stars on the blackberry could. Noisy. But great view.
We were there for
Lunch during restaurant week. The menu was wonderful-two courses for $15.00! Even though nearly every table was filled , we had excellent se vice and our food arrived hot. It was delicious and attractively presented. The views from Tom Hams rival their food. We will be back-soon!
Beautiful view. Food left a lot to be desired though. New york steak had a lot of grissle and was thin. Cheesecake was also thin and seemed store-bought. For such a nice place there should be some sort of dress code, but it was very obvious there is none.
Not worth it at all.
Tom Hamm's is great for bringing out of town guests. One of the best views on San Diego Bay. This trip I got the "market fish" which was yellow-tail. But the server should have mentioned that it was seared so that we could have requested the fish be cooked through. Other than that everything was great and my Scandinavian guests loved it.
