Food was amazing! Quick service! Amazing view!
Exceptional view, food & service! I absolutely love this place.
They have the best brunch!
Food quality and selection went downhill from a visit a few years ago
It had been over 30 years since I went to Tom Hams (used to take dates there in High School!). The food is still excellent and the service attentive. I had the Crab Louie salad which was deconstructed, but had plenty of fresh cherry tomatoes, grilled asparagus, hard boiled egg, avocado, a wedge of iceberg and a HUGE serving of crab meat. They serve it with a big dish of Louie dressing. Add the fresh, hot sourdough bread and compound butter - it was magnificent!
Excellent seafood. Friendly and superb service! Outstanding atmosphere and terrific panoramic view of the bay.
The restaurant is lively and we sat at an outdoor harbor view table that had a beautiful view of the skyline. The service was good but we felt the food was pretty average. It’s not cheap and from what we had been told about the high quality of taste of food, we were disappointed. It is a fun place to eat, but we won’t go back.
The food was delicious, as always. The view is amazing.
The service was terrible.
I made reservations for 12:30, Super Bowl Sunday for my friends birthday. There was a total of 4 people in the party. We all arrived on time and had to wait about 20-25 minutes for our table to be ready.
The waiter had to be asked multiple times for drink refills, ketchup, and Tabasco sauce. I had to take our dirty plates to the waiter station, while 2 staff members that were talking stood there watching me. No apologizes or anything.
The "surcharge" of 3% is ridiculous, as well. The price went up $5 per person (it's now 49.99) AND there is a 3% surcharge for increasing costs. Unacceptable.
The food is just OK. I have visited this restaurant before and it seems the food is not as good. The scenery is great with a view of the bay. The wine list for per glass order is limited, was not able to order the wine I want.
Fantastic service and the best view in SD!!!! Our server was pleasant and very attentive. The food choices were also amazing. The chips for their ceviches were delish. I ordered the lobster roll and glad I did because it did not disappoint! Definitely will take someone special here over and over again. The view was just breathtaking!
The restaurant itself was beautiful with great staff. Prices are high so my expectations for the meal were high. Unfortunately both my wife and I got sick from a raw platter. This is unfortunate, I will NOT be returning to this restaurant.
Food was poorly cooked and tasteless. We went there after 3 years. Based on past experiences we were excited. Although service was ok, the quality of cooking was bad and was not worth the price.
Seafood menu is great, somewhat limiting as compared to other high-end restaurants. View toward downtown San Diego is fantastic at sunset.
Perfect place for a casual get together with friends but most especially for a spectacular view of the bay.
not happy with the crab, either that the way it usually smells or it was bad. Service at the bar area slow, had to get my own drink after bartender poured it .
Went for our anniversary and it happened to be Restaurant Week: 3 course meal for $40. We enjoyed the food but the real star (other than my date) was the spectacular view. An outdoor table is a must. Food was good for the value. Service from server was friendly and swift but busser was lacking. Perfect setting for our anniversary celebration.
Great menu, always good service & unbeatable view!
The Sunday brunch a Sunday amazing. The restaurant was nice and the service was great.
This was the first time sicne moving to SD 10 years ago that I have ever been to Tom Hamms. I came here for my moms bday during restaurant week to try out the menu. I loved that the menu was extensive so that there were a lot of options to choose from! My server Eddie was amazing, he took really good care of us and made sure we had everything that we needed. The whole meal was phenomenal and I will return to check out the happy hour at some point. The bar area looked cozy yet social and the bartenders looked rather attentive so I will join them for a drink very soon!
The view is beautiful. Our waiter was polite however it seemed as if he was just too busy to provide quality service to all the guests considering how many other tables he was responsible for that night so he was rushing from one table to another. We ended up asking someone else to take a picture because we felt as if we were bothering him. He was nice though so I gave him a nice tip. When our dessert was brought over, a woman brought the dessert and placed the items on the table with no smile, didn't ask if we wanted coffee. She seemed miserable. Had to flag our waiter to ask for coffee. I've had better service at previous times I've eaten dinner at Tom Ham's. I was surprised when I walked into the restrooms. The wastebasket was knocked over and paper towels were every where. Bummer because it's a nice restaurant with very nice views.
Our "go-to" place for an awesome dining experience (special occasion or just a great meal). The view is amazing, the service is excellent and the food is outstanding. Great place for happy hour and a perfect place for out of town guests.
It had been too long since we had hit Tom Ham's. Could be one of the best view places for bar and dinner in all of San Diego.
Very nice meal.
Excellent service and food as always!
The restaurant was good. This was my second time there; however, I believe due to restaurant week the food wasn't as good as it was the time I went. The view can not be beat! Outstanding for an afternoon date or just to see the city.
Top-notch food and service - and the view is outstanding! A real San Diego treasure that all locals should visit for a mini-staycation.
My husband and I tried this place for Restaurant Week lunch - the food was excellent, portions were great size and you can't beat the views. We will definitely be back!
Always fantastic service, every time we come here the servers are very friendly and treat you like family-never had a bad experience.Plus I have to mention the view.
Thanks guys always for a wonderful time.
Great food! Had there restaurant week menu!
outstanding & creative Restaurant Week menu at a reasonable price
We were by the open door, and even at noon on an average day, we had a cold breeze on us. We waited for lots of things - sometimes quite a while, and one request never did arrive. The lobster bisque and cioppino were very salty. The crab Louie was fantastic, filling, and had a LOT of very nice crab. The apple dessert and the blackberry dessert were yummy. Five stars on the blackberry could. Noisy. But great view.
We were there for
Lunch during restaurant week. The menu was wonderful-two courses for $15.00! Even though nearly every table was filled , we had excellent se vice and our food arrived hot. It was delicious and attractively presented. The views from Tom Hams rival their food. We will be back-soon!
There were many choices for restaurant week and a fabulous view
Beautiful view. Food left a lot to be desired though. New york steak had a lot of grissle and was thin. Cheesecake was also thin and seemed store-bought. For such a nice place there should be some sort of dress code, but it was very obvious there is none.
Not worth it at all.
Tom Hamm's is great for bringing out of town guests. One of the best views on San Diego Bay. This trip I got the "market fish" which was yellow-tail. But the server should have mentioned that it was seared so that we could have requested the fish be cooked through. Other than that everything was great and my Scandinavian guests loved it.
Everything was amazing! We went for restaurant week, the choices & value were great! Can’t wait to try Sunday brunch!
We enjoyed our restaurant week lunch immensely. The serving sizes were very generous . I had the lobster bisque for my starter—very smooth and flavorful. My entree was their magnificent hamburger. Juicy and topped with feta cheese and applewood smoked bacon, this ribeye burger was by far the best burger I have ever had! Fries were yummy too.
Tom Ham’s is two thumbs up in my book!
Lobster bisque, Lobster roll, poached sea bass (catch) were all excellent. For restaurant week, it was a little busy, but it was a perfect afternoon spot to watch the ships and boats go by and have a nice meal and glass of wine.
Went here for a restaurant week lunch and it was such a pleasant surprise!! The calamari was so different from any other calamari I’ve ever had. The flavor was amazing and it tasted so clean! The burger tasted like a steak cooked to perfection! The cinnamon apple crumb cake... I will never come here again without ordering it!! It was so warm and perfect!! The best part about it all, they don’t skimp on portions, every course there was enough to share! The kids meal was huge for a kids meal, and very good. Quality food!! And can’t beat the view!!
Beautiful view and freash food to match.
