About Tom Hams Lighthouse
Tom Ham’s Lighthouse was built in 1971 by a man who was not afraid to put his name on his product. Rooted in warm welcomes & excellent food, Tom Ham made his lifelong dream a reality. Tom Ham’s Lighthouse is the only restaurant in the US to have a USCG operated & maintained Lighthouse attached to it. You can locate us on any modern nautical map as Beacon #9. Featuring a 100% responsibly resourced seafood menu & award winning Sunday Champagne Brunch, we are a must when it comes to the San Diego food scene. The dining room, purposely shaped like the state of California, allows for groups as grand as 92 yet private enough for a couple’s night out. Holiday brunches have been long time family traditions for many San Diegans. Start your family’s tradition this next holiday. With the best views of the Downtown City Skyline, Coronado & San Diego Bay, Tom Ham's is & remains a San Diego tradition in dining excellence since 1971.

Tom Hams Lighthouse Ratings and Reviews
As I re-read these reviews, I almost think that we went to a different restaurant! It's true that the view is great and it would be a great place to have a drink and watch the sunset. The food however was a disappointment. Between the four of us, we ordered 4 different dishes. (Paella, Salmon and Bouillabaisse). We all found the seafood/fish to be overcooked and not the quality that we expected for the price.
My fiance has Celiac's and they were able to easily accommodate her mandatory gluten-free diet. Very nice place, outdoor seating looked pleasant but we sat inside which was nice and quiet. Beautiful views of Coronado and the bay. Dressy casual to dressy would be the appropriate attire. We both enjoyed our meals (she got the scallops, and I got the sirloin steak, we got gelato and sherbet as well). Overall enjoyed the experience. I've also attended work events here and enjoyed the group vibe in the dining / banquet halls downstairs. Parking was free, no valet which I enjoyed.
I was excited to take my wife to celebrate our 23rd Anniversary since we haven't been there in years. They renovated the restaurant and it was very nice. We sat outside to enjoy the amazing downtown San Diego views. The weather was perfect and the service was fine... that's the end of the good things besides the sourdough bread. Sorry to say, the food wasn't as good as the ambiance. The octopus was rubbery and was served with a forgettable white sauce. My wife's scallops were overcooked and served with an inedible artichoke heart that had the texture of hay. My over priced NY steak had a vein of hard fibers along the center and made it tough to eat and enjoy. To end our evening, our waiter brought us a complimentary Anniversary chocolate cake, but unfortunately it was probably one of the worst cake of my life. Dry and flavorless... the thought was nice.
Food was very good. Service was better. View was fantastic! Would definitely go back again and sit outside, soak up the view of the harbor, downtown San Diego and (at least when we were there) gawk at the $200M yacht parked right outside. Good times!
We had great appetizers, salad and main courses. The waitress was helpful, funny and she made sure every few minutes we had all that we needed. We really enjoyed her. We have been there before for brunch and it was delightful so we decided to try dinner and were not disappointed......thank you
I love the relaxed feel of this place . The ocean front view was amazing. I definitely would return to try more dishes. Sunday brunch was superb. And the price was affordable and worth it. Eddie was our server. He was nice and friendly. He gave us the run down on how the brunch works. I couldn’t give him 5 stars though. More than one occasion, he forgot to bring wet naps and juice for our champagne.
The view was the best part of the meal. My clam chowder arrived at the table room temperature. A second bowl was no better. The waiter was apologetic, but serving hot soup is a basic skill for a fine dining restaurant. I was not charged for the soup. The rest of the meal was good, but not spectacular. The view of the skyline and harbor is memorable. I will restrict myself to the bar and appetizers in the future.
Regarding our dinner 10/15: Service was great. We were very pleased with the staff! Good Job!!!! Menu selections have changed and are not as good as prior visits. Portions of food are small and the Salmon Plate was filled with greens. Honestly, the portions are much better at restaurants like Marie Calendar and California Pizza Kitchen. Then in the fine print on the very bottom of the menu it identifies a 3% surcharge for increased costs (i.e. minimum wage has gone up). I did not like that - I'd prefer they just increase the cost of the meal as usual. I have several friends who say they are going protest that by deducting the 3% from the waiter's tip. That's not good either Overall, this visit was just OK and nowhere as good as in the past. Please take this as constructive feedback. We want to keep dining with you.
It is always a great time here. I love the views from any seat. It is very romantic and although there are many tables, you still have your privacy. The staff are remarkable. They ask often if you need anything and you never have to ask for refills. Food is fresh and made often so you are not eating food sitting for long periods of time.
