Tom Goodchild's Moose Factory Ratings and Reviews
I have dined here for many years and it is a favourite of mine however last nights meal was quite poor quality. The starter which I've had before was nothing like it's usual. The calamari tasted and looked like it was straight out of a box rather than done by hand.
My steak was sub par and the salad limp.
Perhaps just a not so great cook and an off night but definitely wasn't worth the amount of money I spent.
When I reserved my table I was expecting that I would be ordering my meal but when we got there we found out that it was brunch and you went and served yourself. It should be posted that Sundays is self serve until a certain hour. I suppose if I would have phoned in to reserve the table a person would have been told but I reserved on line. I have tried to get to the proper site to enter your survey but was unable to get to the site using what was on the card for a site to visit. Also there is a contest to enter to win steaks for a year and have not been able to get to the right site to enter. Could you please enter me in that contest as well. Other than that we were very happy with our visit and the buffet was great with lots to choose from.
We were slightly disappointed with the options for Sunday evening buffet. Food on buffet was nice but limited options for the price. My 4 and 6 year old definitely didn't eat enough to value the $15. Maybe the structure for children's pricing could be reviewed.
The service was slow and at times non existent. We were a table of 8 and felt that since there was an automatic gratuity he felt he did not need to try. I made it known that we were not happy and when the bill came he did not add the automatic gratuity to our bills which I will give them credit for. Also, one of the people in our party felt her fish was "bad" and they removed it from the bill with no problem.
I found the food to be very 80's. Typical steakhouse fare while the other dishes are not exactly inspiring.
The service and food was slow. Waited over 1 hour for appetizers and 2 hours for our meals. It was my actual birthday and I am a sawmill member and one of the posters said order 4 entrees and receive $15 off for your birthday. That didn't happen. I did get a free $6 drink. I ordered my steak medium and it was still walking when I got it. Didn't send it back cause I didn't want to wait another hour for a new one for have that one spit on.
We enjoy moose Factory often. You can have a wonderful brunch, or order from the menu. We enjoy the atmosphere, the service, and the food.
I would recommend this for groups, couples, or special occasions. I also like that you can get points and use the points towards meals in the future.
We were sitting at a booth for 4 people. The roast beef was dry. Ham was dry. The food in the warming trays was Luke warm and not hot. Seating was tight. Nowhere to put our jackets sitting in the booth. Tables beside us were too close to our booth. With a buffet meal sitting in the booth we were constantly getting in and out. With the close quaters of the booth and the surrounding tables it was distracting always having to watch out for the traffic from the waiters and other patrons, trying not to bump into someone.
Went for a special lunch with some staff members to honor their spectacular achievements over the year. We were seated quickly and the service was good. There was a fair amount of variety in the buffet, we tried different items, couldn't agree on favourites.
This used to be a high quality standard for us the food quantity and quality has gone down tremendously . my prime rib was one third fat the halibut had no taste all the vegetables were undercooked the ribs were great . The Christmas buffet looked good but turkey and dressing was dried out looking so we didn't go that way .
As a party of two we arrived a little early for our reservation on a Friday evening. We were seated at a table for two in a nice location despite a large group in the central area that created additional noise. The service was quite good and the server responsive to meal deficiencies. My companion received the wrong veg with the prime rib. She simply brought out the correct one in a small container which was fine. My big beef :) with the place is the prices are very high for the amount of food, especially north of $50 for the buffet; that's obscene!! Days later I spoke with friends who used to frequent TMF and they have stopped going due to the lack of value (prices).
Restaurant Decor is dated and worn, we were seated in the middle of a large group so it was very noisy and access to our seating area was restricted by chairs in a narrow passage. The waiter was good, but the person who seated us seemed annoyed that we were not opting for the buffet. The steak was merely adequate. Will probably not return.
Went for Sunday brunch. Had a decent selection. From eggs benny to omelettes made right in front of you. Tons of salads and fruits. Also prime rib and ham. It offers a wide variety of breakfast and lunch options that are quite tasty. This is a place I frequent for Sunday brunch.
First time. They had a buffet on- we weren't expecting- but decided to try it. It was pricey but we ate well. Many salad assortments and meats and desserts. Had a lovely date night with wonderful service and atmosphere. We will definitely return one day with friends or family.
