If you're looking for a classic Spanish restaurant for quiet conversation, reliable food and attentive service, Toledo is a excellent choice. It's the opposite of trendy; it's old school in a good way.
It’s a good spot to hang out with friends and be able to hear them speak. The food overall was good authentic Spanish fare. I really liked the sangria and all the appetizers. The paella was not bad. The service was a tad slow but they let us hang out without interruptions long after the meal.
Great food and superb service.
The food is a never fail. It’s so good all the time. And the garlic soup is unparalleled.
The restaurant and staff are a step back in time when service and creating an atmosphere when the diner feels welcome. A friend of the family who is surrounded by attention, great food and liquor. It’s off the beaten track, but well worth the trip!
Always a wonderful meal with amazing service. We went for a firm dinner and everything was enjoyed by all.
Food was not as good as expected. The paella rice was over cooked. The veal and the fish were ok but
Real authentic Spanish food, great service and a good selection of wines.
Wonderful food and service
Excellent for Business meetings or a nice celebration.
Excellent service and delicious food ; fantastic place to visit again...
Always good food and service. We eat here often and are never disappointed.
The service is always amazing. Any age can enjoy this but many times it is quiet and it's very elegant. So if you are an older couple or taking older clients it's especially wonderful. The food is delicious and there is a lot to choose from. - NDL
Really great waiters and lovely place. Lobster was okay but green sauce not quite green enough. Needed to be more robust. Flavors wer good though
This restaurant is from another era. The room is all wood and pictures and the staff well dressed. The menu selections are classic Spanish and the wine choices are vast and on the high side. Food quality was good, but there was not a molecule of saffron in the rice of my seafood dish although it was stated to be there.
For those wishing to eat at a Restaurant with a capital R, quiet for conversation, well staffed and with a good menu, this is the place.
The service was fantastic and the food very good
We loved our experience at Toledo. White table cloths, beautiful charger-plates, helpful and professional wait staff all added up to a memorable evening. We had paella and it was cooked beautifully. Our waiter recommended just the right wine. This is a wonderful restaurant for a cold winter evening.
It is very classy and refined. It is a wonderful place to take clients and friends to actually having a conversation when dining.
Good food, mediocre service, nice atmosphere , but overpriced.
Restaurant canceled my reservation without giving a reason. When I called I was rudely told they had overbooked and to bad for me and my party of six. I will never deal with Toledo again, it was beyond rude.
Outstanding, incredible paella, with lots of choices. Chef will accommodate any special requests.
One comment -- when I booked it, OpenTable told me the restaurant was fully booked for the time I wanted. However, the restaurant was virtually empty when we arrived (only one other table was occupied),and it remained almost empty throughout the evening. Why?
I hope the restaurant did not lose any diners because they were told it was fully booked.
Did not know how good this restaurant was until we stared eating!!! Everything was delicious and tasty! The bread should be warmed more!!!! The paella Valencia was out of this world!!!’ I will defy return in the very near future!
Toledo restaurant served up an authentic Spanish experience. The food was excellent and authentic. The service was impeccable and very personal and engaging. My wife is Spanish and we eat out in Spain many times a year. This was like being in Spain.
It was my first time and I thought the food was genuine and tasty. Portions were huge.
Ambiance and Service was pretty good. The food was not very good. For what the prices are here they need to step up the foods flavor. It’s a pretty expensive restaurant and was left disappointed by the food. The servers were very attentive and on top of us mainly because were practically the only ones in the restaurant.
All was perfect! Food was great and the service outstanding! Fantastic staff.
Haven’t been here in years but everything was as good as I remembered. Best Spanish food I’ve ever had.
Reviews count for a lot. If you read them. We did not before going here. We passed by and thought it had a very charming atmosphere. The place was empty on a Friday night. The service was very friendly and the room was very elegant. But those were the highlights. The food was mediocre at best and very overly priced. We are used to spending money on dinner, but felt very disappointed that our meal did not reflect the atmosphere or the price point. We enjoyed ourselves regardless, but one last note; check the handwritten bill. Non computerized bills have mistakes usually not in your favor.
My all time favorite restaurant in NY.
Very quiet place for Manhattan. Great service from some very friendly staff. Most are very familiar with Spain so can get some travel tips as well! Comfortable room. Quite a good wine list, very reasonably priced and great seafood selection. Great place if you want a quiet romantic meal, or would be good for small business meetings as well as tables are well spaced and quiet enough to talk without yelling.
It use to be a great place for lunch or dinner or holiday parties (maybe for some it still is...). Now its just too expensive and the food.... not what it use to be. I would have thought - they continue with the same quality of food with the prices they charge!
Great local restaurant. Normally it gets busy late so seating before 8 pm is very easy. we have never had a bad meal or bad experience in 15 years.
Beautiful inside and authentic waite staff.
All dishes very authentic and fresh.
Paella was as good as place I have ever been served it.
I give Toledo an "E". E as in excellent, elegant, & expensive. Traditional Spanish- Old World décor all the way, formal ambience & service, although no dress code. Extensive menu offering a wide range of appetizers (all above $15), soups, & salads. My wife loved her gazpacho. I enjoyed piquillo peppers stuffed with salt cod. Many variations on saffron rice based dishes are standouts, because they really do use generous amounts of tasty Spanish saffron- unlike many other places who claim to offer authentic paella, but use turmeric & other seasonings to approximate the yellowish color imparted by saffron. My wife said their seafood paella ($46) was the best paella she's had outside of Spain. Entrees are mostly from the mid-30's & up, with many in the 50's.
A couple of things could have been improved. When I asked about red wine by the glass, the waiter told me I could have a Rioja (which I suspected) but did not tell me any choices of Vintage, did not tell me the price ($13.25), & did not indicate that there was even any other red wine choice. Also, in honor of my wife's birthday, I had asked them with more than 24 hours notice to put a candle (in whatever holder they needed) in her paella. I was all set to take a picture of my wife's reaction as I sang "Happy Birthday", but they didn't put the candle & the moment was lost.
All in all, excellent food in a classy (if a bit stiff) setting, with prices high enough to reserve it for special occasions or expense accounts.
One of my favorite restaurants. I have eaten there often over the past 15 years. I have never had a problem with the food or the service.
If you appreciate well-prepared Spanish cuisine, look no further than this long-standing midtown establishment. Shrimp in garlic sauce, chorizo, escargots, gazpacho to start. Paella, Filet of sole or a veal dish; all have been perfect. I can't discuss desserts because I've always been to full to have one. The service is top-notch and in these surroundings, the feeling is "old world." It's not an inexpensive place, but it is a great experience.
dirty floor and overpriced staff was old and verrry slow.. horrible
Very traditional Spanish restaurant. The food and service was excellent, although a bit pricey. The paella was delicious!
Toledo is one of my most favorite restaurants in the city. The food is outstanding in both presentation and flavor. Your waiters have been there a very long time and aim to please.
And most important is that I have never felt rushed.
Wonderful! The service, food and quiet ambiance were all fabulous!
Wonderful Spanish restaurant. Great seafood. Amazing yellow (saffron) rice and shrimp.Professional waiters. Expensive.
