Tokyo Japanese Steakhouse
Please let us know if you would like an Hibachi or Shabu dinner.
Came here for a dinner to celebrate a friends birthday. We were sat at our a table with a bunch of kids who didn't order anything hibachi, yet if there was anything extra left over from cooking (rice, veggies) he gave it to the kids who did not order any hibachi meals.
The service was HORRIBLE. I understand with covid theres short staffs but I am not joking when I say our waiter came over to take our orders and deliver our drinks and never came around again. We were constantly asking the waitress from the other table to help or grab our waiter. She was the one who took our drink orders instead of our waiter. Also when the bill came, they included the 6 college kids drinks totaling over $600 dollars to our bill because he thought we were all together, even though we were sat much later than them. I have been eating out all through covid but this was the worst one yet. No apologies for the lack of service or delays. Poor poor choice for dinner.
It was a great place. Service was impeccable. Really loud and I'm glad we made a reservation as the place was packed. They got us in and out of there in less then 40 mins which was good.
Awesome place. Such a good time! Will be back for sure.
The favorite food was rice with seafood.
Excellent birthday party restaurant!
Maybe it is more lively in the evening?
We were the only 2 in the restaurant for lunch!
4 more arrived before we left.
Thought about sushi freshness with so little turnover....
Food is consistently good. Service is spotty. Server disappeared too often at times. Not surprising, but at least refill drinks without having to be asked to do so. Other than that there's not much to do.
Don’t even waste your time going to this place! They only care about your money. Service was so terrible we literally walked out after explaining three times to waiter/ cook or family member of the restaurant we had been waiting over an hour at the table to get our food cooked. we just paid for our drinks and left. They don’t care anything about the health or safety of their customers Just cooking shellfish right there while customers has allergies and will sit three separate parties together at the same table not allowing any space for social distance. It’s not clean at all.
Excellent service all around
It was great!
I enjoy this place food was good 👌🏾
Food is always good. Service drops off when busy, which was the case this time. Kind of have to pick your spots, otherwise can turn into a long evening. For some that’s part of the experience. For others who like to get in and out it may not be what you are hoping for
Deteriorated and bad
Great food and nice service. A little loud compared to other hibachi places but I think that's the crowd they're going for. Food was the highlight for sure
Food & service are always great!
All was well with our experience at Tokyo Japanese Steakhouse. The food just didn't quite live up to the expectation of traditional hibachi.
Food is always consistently good. Service is hit and miss sometimes, depending on how busy the restaurant is. Server was excellent this time. Attentive to our needs, which basically is refilling water, but that's all that I hope for anyway. Got us in and out in a timely manner
Great food little pricey but over all great place will go again
Food is good but service and ambiance is lacking. Also please note that the hibachi area is what appears to be full seating capacity and the 6 foot social distancing gudelines are not possible.
The experience was rushed.
The food was great! We just felt rushed. The minute we sat down the waiter wanted to know what we wanted to drink. 2 minutes later he wanted to know what we wanted to eat. Like we didn't even get a chance to just take in the moment and the experience. Now, I know next time to just order take out.
The reservation didn’t matter we still had to wait
Waitstaff is curt and rude. Asked for a knife and it was like we were asking for a million dollars! Never came back to ask if we wanted more drinks, or needed anything. Hibachi chef must have been a rookie.. Not much of any kind of show from him at all. Noodles were barely cooked and had no flavor whatsoever.. Felt really rushed throughout this meal!. Won't be going back again!
The main chef is very hospitable but that is the only plus to my visit. The servers were incompetent and very rude.
This was our 2nd visit to this Japanese steakhouse and like our last visit in December we loved the food, service, and friendliness of the waitstaff.
Just really mediocre experience at best
Love this place. Very friendly and food is great!
Above average Asian food well-prepared and unusually tasty drinks.
As a family, we have been to several Hibachi steakhouses but Tokyo is the best one ever!
This was our third time here in the last 5 weeks and the experience was great as usual. I absolutely love the food and ambience here. We will definitely be returning...soon!
Pretty great. We had five 13-year-olds for dinner and they had a wonderful time.
Safely order and dine in this restaurant! Food is well-prepared! You cannot go wrong! Try the Nabenyaki udon seafood soup or Chicken teriyaki!
The food was fantastic so I may order take out or delivery. However it was Sooo load with night club type music we could not hear each other across the table
Favorite place to go with the family!!! Always amazing food!
The service was horrible and my salad was frozen. I didn’t make a big deal about it during the meal but on my way out I told management about the frozen salad only to be told it’s supposed to be cold. I understand that everyone is doing their best given the pandemic but bad service and the flippant remark has made me decide not to return.
Our first trip here last week was so good that we had to come back this week. And we were not disappointed! Great place!👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
Our first time and we had a great time! Can’t wait to go back next week! What else can I say!
We have been here many time before but am very upset that during the Covid out break Tokyo Japanese Steakhouse @ Chestnuthill had no concept of their social responsibility. The steakhouse was filled with college kids all packed like a sardine in a box; with no social distancing. The Mgmt made no effort and participated in packing the folks at any table within the restaurant. The food was terrible as clearly they were not staffed for so many folks. I should have filled a complaint with City of Newton health department and Chestnut Hill mall’s landlord!
I have no interest in supporting local business that acts so irresponsibly!
Food was great but the waiter was rushing my party amd tapped on the bill a few times, which we found extremely rude.
Only one other table had customers when we arrived, which was nice for us. I’m assuming that Tokyo is struggling, along with so many other establishments, but we’re trying to support as best we can. Food is always consistently good. Service is fine. Decent night out.
The food was nicely prepared and service good. Exceeded my expectations for a mall location
