About Toku Modern Asian
Toku’s cuisine is predominantly Japanese with influences from China, Korea, and South East Asia. Ingredients and cooking techniques throughout the world create the Modern Asian menu. Owners Gillis and George Poll have dined all over the world, and have come across a variety of dishes that have really impressed them, “the best of the best.” According to Gillis, “We put together our favorites and added our own unique twists to them.” George emphasizes the menu’s ease and variety. “It’s a straightforward, casually written menu which allows you to dine any way that you’d like.” Guests may enjoy traditional meals with an appetizer, entree and dessert, or dine exclusively on sushi. Others can order cocktails and a table full of appetizers and skewers to share. “The menu is set up for sharing,” he confirms. Anything goes when ordering at Toku.

Toku Modern Asian Ratings and Reviews
We took my parents, who rarely eat anything but Chinese food, here for Christmas Eve dinner, and they loved it. We Irish mother in law, who also loves Chinese food, also joined us and she raved about the food and service. We started with the edamame, rock shrimp tempura, shrimp dumplings, lamb spare ribs, gyoza, chicken ramen, kobe beef shishito peppers (though there was no beef) and teriyaki sliders. In hindsight, we should have also ordered the Riverstone BBQ as the table next to us ordered it and it looked delicious. However, for 6 people, this was plenty for us to share. My father ordered the roasted lobster, and he could barely finish his entree. My mother thoroughly enjoyed her skirt steak, and my son and I each got the filet of beef (I loved the mushroom ragout). My wife ordered the Ja Jaing Mein and lucky for me, she couldn't finish it and it turned out to be an awesome reheated breakfast the next day. My daughter loved the Geisha roll, and my mother in law couldn't get enough of the shrimp pilaf. The food is very good, but it is very, very pricey for Asian food. I've catered Christmas eve dinner for 20 people for what we paid for 6 here. But, it's worth the occasional splurge for food this good.
This was my first time at the restaurant and I thought that the location was beautiful. I really enjoyed that there were so many choices. We had the lobster tacos and King crab roll for an appetizer and they were both delicious. For dinner we shared the fried rice, Kung pao chicken, and udon noodles. Everything was delicious as well as my lychee martini. I will definitely go back there again
Our reservation was for late in the evening. The service left much to be desired. The appetizers came all together at the same time and the dinner was pushed on our tables. It was clear there was no interest in having us enjoy our meal, rather serve quickly all the plates to make money and go home. We won't come back. Too bad. We have been here multiple times before and we never felt rushed. If you can't take a reservation for late in the evening, don't announce it as "open for dinner".
The food choices were varied & interesting.Prices high, Service was fairly good, but not friendly or personable , in the least. I am glad I went, but if I never went back, I wouldn't miss it, as there was nothing outstanding about it. I would recommend trying it once & then making up your own mind.
As a first timer, I heard a lot and expected a lot. Toku exceeded my expectations with their innovate menu and spectacular service from Eloise. An amazing experience. My only complaint is minor and related to dessert, something chocolate is missing and would make this an 11 on a scale of 1-10. Thanks
My family and I usually go once or twice a month. We usually start with various sushi, crispy tuna, king crab , and rock shrimp. The sushi is always fresh. I had the toro and uni. My wife had the foie gras skewers and the king crab appetizer. Always delicious. My boys who are 14 and 12 and always order the Riverstone BBQ beef for appetizer. They shared the charred filet mignon with mushrooms. I usually order the lobster with black bean sauce with a nice bottle of saki. My favorite. A little salty but I have a bowl of brown rice and mix it in with the sauce. Finger licking good ! My wife gets annoyed when I suck the sauce off my fingers. Honestly, I don't care. It's sooo delicious ! She had the Chilean sea bass. Always perfectly cooked. We ended with the apple tart with vanilla ice cream. The boys had the warm brownie with vanilla ice cream. Their favorite. I had to loosen my belt. 😄 We've pretty much tried everything on the menu. Love the Berkshire pork belly, Wagyu steak, Charred filet mignon, Crispy Red Snapper, Miso Cod, Chilean sea bass...
Time for Toku to add some new appetizers and entrees ! The ambience is energetic and can get loud. The staff is exceptional. Overall, the food is excellent and consistent. Pricey but worth it.
I've been coming here for many years.
Usually satisfied. We came to celebrate
A colleagues 40th birthdate. Great food.

Service was great, shu the waiter was awesome, a friend has seafood allergies
And he made sure that everything was checked and double checked. We all had a great time. However the cocktail drinks
Were too sweet and watered down.
The host sat us immediately, wow.
Very impressed. Will continue to visit.
If your looking for Asian food , upscale, this
We dined at Toku for lunch yesterday. All of our dishes were made with very fresh ingredients and the flavors were clean and balanced. Try the veggie dumplings! They are great. Other things we enjoyed included: black cod, fennel salad with shrimp, hot and sour soup and the veggie sushi rolls. The service was excellent and our water and tea glasses were kept filled. We dined in a leisurely fashion and were never rushed to leave despite it being full. This is our second time eating at Toku and we will definitely be back!
