I went here for a birthday dinner with daughter and spouse as it was convenient to where we needed to be and was recommended. I reserved a table for 3 hoping that being a restaurant rather then the food court we'd get a table to sit at so we could talk. The hostess saw my reservation and then put us at the bar which is not where we wanted to sit so I asked to move and she moved us to one of the high tables begrudgingly. We did not realize there were no regular height tables and chairs, so unfortunately my husband ended hp having back pain after dinner which he still has 2 days later. The alcoholic drinks were way to expensive for us so we didn't order any. The waiter was very nice and attentive at first but once we got our food, which was very fast, we didn't see him again until time to pay. The food was tasty but many choices were overpriced in our opinion so we were limited in choices due to that and my gluten free concern. The one dish my husband was planning on getting was the ahi tuna and he asked for it without the scallions or onions but was told it was already in the tuna, so he eneded up choosing the fried chicken sandwich which is not what he wanted but did say it tasted good. Therefore, we had mixed feelings about our experience and would only recommend it to some individuals based on what they were looking for.
VERY OVERPRICED FOR THE QUALITY! Located in the Plaza Shops on the lower level of the PLAZA HOTEL- cute place BUT there were other resturants that might have been alot better! We had the burger- which was OK not great with limp fries- bill was $75 for 2 burgers, 2 fries, 1 beer and a coke! We are willing to pay for excelltnet food but in this case go get a burger somewhere else in NYC- other food look ok also- Waiter was really nice and gave good service-
Overall decent, but we picked this based on the seemingly good kids menu. The kids menu is good as far as options, but a paltry 2 chicken fingers are not nearly enough for a kid (6-10y) after a day in the city, maybe a toddler. Same feeling on 2 sliders. If I'm really reviewing this, from an industry insider eye, they should also know that 2 is not ascetically pleasing. There needs to be more food on the plate, with few apple slices, and more options for kids desserts, other than the $13 Eloise Root Beer Float, aka tummy ache. Fun to go 'to the Plaza', but probably will not go back.
We had an amazing server and the staff were so attentive and diligent. We had young children with us and were able to have a pleasant dining experience because if their great service. The food was amazing each dish that was brought tot he table didn’t disappoint. Every bite was better than the last.
Noisy. Great food. Evan is the best! If he isn’t working, rebook!
Always a peasant experience eating here! Nice wines, salads, flat bread pizzas. The air conditioning was so cold when we were there, but overall a great experience!
We love this restaurant and have been fans of Todd English for a long time. Every time I come here, whether with friends, family or coworkers, the experience is fantastic. It is often the first time for the people we bring and they are always impressed. Our server, Jessica, was one of the best we have had. Truly great food and always a great choice.
Consistent good food. Good for different occasions.
This place never disappoints! It is great because the menu showcases all different types of cuisine so everyone at the table will be happy!
Risotto tater tots were fantastic! Prosciutto, fig flatbread very good- quite large for one person. Central prk punch was delicious! A cozy gem under The Plaza hotel. I did not have room in my belly to try the other food stalls but Todd English’s restaurant was great! I will go back on my next NYC visit.
Great Dining, Great atmosphere, Service was very good and the meal was excellent.
I’ve been here several times. This visit was the first time with my (picky) family and the best yet. Our server, Boris had great recommendations for food and wine. Everybody enjoyed their meals as well as the friendly service. We have finally found a spot that we can all enjoy.
It's just like any of the other 250 Todd English locations around the world... Except perhaps with inattentive NYC service added on for good measure. Try the Bolognese.
this place was noisy, only good for tourists or to eat , it is upscale food court.
Great food. Excellent service & great drinks! Prompt seating. Overall great experience.
The place is nice. We wanted to have this great seafood dish but unfortunately it was taken off the menu. The seafoid tower was fresh.
I had the octopus appetizer, which was n't bad but could've been less oily. The burger could've been definitely better as well. But surprisingly the place is moderately priced. Thought it'd have been more expensive, being at the Plaza and all.
Would NOT go back. Table by hot grill. Waiter not friendly or attentive. All 6 dishes came out at one tome(3 people). Food not great and expensive .
We always love this place. Peking Duck Buns are a must!
We had Valentine's lunch here. Was more casual than i expected but we thought it was the best meal in new york that we had. Atmosphere was really good too. It was perfect.
I haven't dined at Todd English for 3 years, but the quality level over that time had decreased considerably. I booked bar seating at the seafood bar, but we were shown to a table at the back. However on mentioning it to our greeter, we were moved to the bar. The server wasn't friendly, until it was time to settle the account, and there didn't seem to be the same quantity choice of food. The cook staff in the past were always very cordial & made it fun to be seated at their bar, but not now. The Pizza bar had no one seated during our entire stay.
We'll look elsewhere next time.
Service was amazing and enjoyed the experience. The nyc restaurant week menu was not that interesting and didn’t really seem to represent the best of the restaurant. Kind of disappointing.
I like Todd English most of the time, but the food quality and taste are not consistent. Sometimes the food is excellent, and some times, mediocre at best. My last visit, the food was mediocre. What causes these inconsistencies?
Used to love this place. It’s gone so down hill it’s a shame. The last three times it was mediocre and this last time was just plain awful. Kept thinking i was just getting an off day, now I see it’s just not the same. Service was awful and the food was terrible. So disappointed that this once awesome place is off of my go to list.
Food was good but overpriced. Staff (including what appeared to be a manager) seemed more interested in getting along with each other than being attentive to customers
I have been here previously but this visit was just terrible. Three dishes came out with about 10-15 minutes in-between each. French fries were cold. One of us never had silverware. Stirfry wasn't ever received until we asked. Public can use the restrooms, so paying customers needed to wait in line for access.
Service felt rushed and was made to wait for table
Always a great experience. One of our favorite NYC spots. The tater tots are a must.
Great place start to finish. Was seated at the bar and was a little annoyed by that but it turns out the bartender was very nice and friendly.
Service was very unpleasant. Fun menu but food not good. Tina burger over done. Chicken sandwich over cooked as well.
A spur of the moment choice and it delighted us with many food options.
My experience was very disappointing. We had a very surly waiter. We order two appetizers and three entrees. The first appetizer came out but was followed shortly by one of the entrees, then soon another entree. After 15 minutes, and unable to get hold of a waiter, we caught our waiter and told him . unapologetic he walked away "to take check on things" After another 10 minutes, a manager passed and i asked about our food. Soon after, both the appetizer and entree appeared and was thrown onto the table. No one seemed concerned that our other food might be cold , or that we had intended to have a leisurely meal and wanted our appetizers first and then be able to eat our entrees together. there were no apologies, no checking on us to see how things were. AT the exorbitant prices, I expect some service.
Giovanni Campos the F&B Manger - a wonderful representative of the Todd English brand.
He is the best.
Food was excellent.
VERY popular spot in basement food area of The Plaza. Using OpenTable for reservation was brilliant, especially for Party of 11! Our reservation was for 10 people at 8 and we showed up at 7:35 with 11 and they sat us within 5 minutes even though restaurant was packed.
Food was delicious, high points were the classic fig and prosciutto Pizza and risotto tater tots, but the steaks were amazing and no one was disappointed with anything they ordered. Definitely recommend.
Was highly recommended to this restaurant. My daughter and I loved both the food and great ambiance. Will definitely be back!
My family & I went there specifically for the 80’s menu. Our kids (12, 9 & 7) we’re excited to go. When we got there we were told they stopped serving the 80’s menu. And then we asked for kids menus & were told they were out of them. Our server told us he had most of the kids menu memorized & could tell it to us. My son told him what he wanted & then the server tells him they are out of it. 3 strikes. Pretty frustrating.
Nothing about this experience was worth the name Todd English or The Plaza
Great food and service. Sit at tall tables or overlooking kitchen areas. Attentive and knowledgeable staff, food is quality and tasty.
We were there for Christmas lunch, not traditional but location and quality more than made up for it.
We had a very good monent. We had Christmas lunch. The food and service were excellent for a reasonable price.
Service was second to none! Waiter and manager very receptive to our needs! Food A** . Will return again. Thanks Todd English food hall at the plaza!!
