TOCA - Ritz Carlton Toronto Ratings and Reviews
We had the 4 courses tasting menu. It was good but felt not worth the money given that the tasting menu wasn't chef inspired or not on the menu. Basically, looking at the table next to us, they ordered al la cart and they had the same thing we had. Therefore, I would recommend ordering from the menu and save your money by not ordering the tasting menu.
Our daycare offered child minding on a Saturday and so we made plans with another couple to drop our kids off and come to Toca for brunch / lunch. We had heard so many things about the Sunday brunch but have yet to experience that. Firstly though, I had called the day before as it seemed the Saturday brunch menu was limited. My call was answered by the front desk and she informed me that the restaurant hostess was unavailable and that she could answer my inquiries. I asked if the regular lunch menu was also available as supplement to the brunch menu to have more choice and she assured me that it was available. This is not the case though. We found this out after asking it waiter for the lunch menu and he said it is never available the weekend. Having said that, we at happy it’s what we ordered.
My husband and I were first I arrive on time but waited almost 5 minutes for the hostess and to be seated. She was courteous and polite. The restaurant wasn’t too busy but the ambiance and mood was perfect. Great atmosphere and very comfortable / plush.
Our waiter was very sweet but seemed tied and the communication was a bit off. He seemed to be shy and a little unaware and quiet natured. No real conversation but again was courteous. When our friends arrived we ordered 2 of the lobster caprese and 2 meat charcuterie - both were great. Drinks was a combo of beers for the gentlemen and mimosas for us ladies. Two of us had the Toca burger and the other two had the prosciutto club sandwich. I asked the server who bought out the food (not our waiter) if I could have a spicy dip to accompany my sweet potato fries and h bought me back two tiny bottles of tobacco and told me to mix them with the jar of mayo. Ok sure I’ll make my own sauce thanks. Not something I was expecting to do at the Ritz!!
The cappuccino, affogato and chocolate cake were delicious. In conclusion, food drinks and atmosphere were on point. But seems communication amongst staff and some service needs work
Extremely noisy from bar downstairs. Hope they close up that side of the wall to minimize the noise. Didn 't expect it to be like this. Furnishing is akin to a cafe for casual dining. Very old and worn out.
Far below the Tosca of Ritz Carlton Hotel in Hong Kong.
It was my first time dining there and it won’t be my last. Ali waited on us... he was so amicable, kind and professional... he knew the offerings thoroughly and answered all our queries with confidence and made very helpful suggestions. Thank you Ali for your good energy, generosity and making it such an enjoyable and memorable experience for us. Hope to see you all for the New Year’s Eve celebrations.
The Service was outstanding! The food was declious. Special thanks to both the chef and waiter we had. My daughter has a peanut allergy and they both went accommodated us with food prepared especially for her. They took the time to explain all the dishes available. The unlimited champagne fantastic.
Had a great dining experience in celebration of a family birthday. Although it took awhile to bring our drinks and too long to place our order (which wasn't taken when our drinks arrived), we enjoyed our meals and subsequent service thoroughly. We were pleasantly surprised by the birthday treat of macarons, chocolate cake and berries. The black cod portions (for the two of us who are not big eaters) were very small even for us, so ordering sides is a must if you want to flesh out your meal. Hubby's steak was ample and cooked perfectly. They were very thorough in confirming allergy issues. The room felt extremely noisy due to being seated in a curved booth beside a loud talker. I would definitely ask to be seated in a quieter area next time so I don't feel like I'm sharing my meal with the people beside me. This is our second time dining at Toca and we will definitely return.
This restaurant has a lot of very positive reviews, but we had some issues with it. The service was exceptionally slow, and our food was not cooked properly and had to be sent back. Also, my guest had a dirty show plate, and when we pointed this out, the staff did not remove it right away as they said it was just a "show plate".
We had a dinner there for celebrating my wife’s birthday. What a wonderful time we spent! And all I can say is everything, the food, the atmosphere and the surprising cookie at the end are all the best. Our 7 year old son loves the fries very much. We would definitely recommend this restaurant to everyone.
