Toca Madera, a healthy Mexican restaurant on a trendy stretch of W 3rd Street, is the place to go if you want a scene but you also want decent food.
The food was better when it first opened.
Everything was fantastic!!!
Food is absolutely amazing!!!
Loved the atmosphere. But got the tofu tacos in lettuce and it was pretty much lettuce with salsa and one tiny piece of tofu. Wanted to order more food but waitress was no where to be found. Drinks were tasty but not alcohol was in them
Waitress was amazing and made sure we had drinks we liked! Food came out quickly and was phenomenal! Must have the calamari and carne asada tacos! Chips and salsa was amazing. Going back again for Taco Tuesday!
Great restraunt love the vibe , loved the service everyone there is very helpful love the art I will definitely recommend this place for a business dinner, romantic dinner friends get together
Overall, good experience, great ambiance and music! However, in my opinion it is way overpriced for food and drinks (they were average but according to the waiter all organic and local ingredients😏) Also, need a reservation a week ahead, specially for the weekend!
Honestly can’t say enough good things, the staff is exceptional and delightful the food was great the drinks were on point. Thank you for making my sisters birthday memorable!
Good if you are in the area. Terrible hostess and cocktail waitress. Who hires these incompetent people?
Great food, ambiance and service. Although they BLAST music so don't plan on hearing people speak lol.
This is one of my favorite places in LA. From the awesome decor with hanging sugar skulls, to the in wall fire pit and DJ- they have it all. Their selection of Tequila is really impressive, and the food is delicious. My favorite date place in LA.
Waisteess was friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. We had an exceptional time!
Food was great, service was ok
Way too loud. Fire alarm went off - fire truck came. Firemen came in the restaraunt. Just way too much going on to enjoy a nice meal and I specifically requested a “quiet” table when I confirmed the reservation. I shall not return. 👎🏽
Nice spot.. food came out cold
THE DRINKS NEED TO BE STRONGER FOR THE AMOUNT OF MONEY YOU PAY !
Great place n excellent n fast service. Food was delicious n our waitress was amazing n on it.
A little bit loud but great service and great music. Food was a little bit overpriced but delicious.
The hosts weren’t all that accommodating we requested lounge seating they said there’s a wait, so we decided to be placed on a waiting list people coming in after us got seated where we requested but we didn’t even get notified ... the worst part was I tripped over a spilled drink and fell bruising my knee right when we first got there yet they didn’t even offer ice for my knee all they said was hope your ok ... and left laughing telling someone they might wanna clean the water off the floor. Was expecting a little more consideration ...overall good food and the waiter that served us was knowledgeable and sweet. It’s not my first time here and this was by far the worst experience with the hostesses. So I’m being very generous with my rating.
Had a lovely dinner at Toca Madera...happened to find the restaurant on Open Table & are glad we did. Unusual menu - Mexican inspired and vegetarian friendly. Suggest sitting in the back room for quiet conversation although the tables around the bar are hopping. Interesting margarita menu. We look forward to returning.
Had a pleasant time w my friends.
Wanted to check out this new restaurant which has received good reviews. Food was good, ambience very good and service excellent. Restaurants morphs from restaurant to late night lounge over the course of a few hours.
The lively atmosphere is great for a girlfriends, guys or group of friends.
Everything was great except our table choice was either couch seating in the loudest, most crowded part of the restaurant by the bar or right by the entrance to the kitchen. It was SOOOOOOOOOOO ridiculously loud that we had to yell and repeat ourselves constantly. Besides that, all was fantastic!
Went here for my nephew's 25th bday. Wanted to pick a fun spot for him and his friends but, after reading some the reviews, I was concerned about the noise level. When I made the reservation I requested a table in the back, away from the bar (and noise); however, when they brought to the table, I didn't like it at all and asked to be seated somewhere else. They graciously seated us at a much better table, right in front of the bar. Yes, it was loud but I would describe it as a fun loud. The music was actually great and the whole environment was cool. At the time of making the reservation they did indicate the reservation was a time restricted one--for 2 hours only--so they can turn the table. I didn't mind that restriction (I appreciated the honesty) and actually we were out of there in almost exactly two hours to the minute without ever feeling rushed. The prices are pretty modest and all of the food was very good. We had a couple of vegans at the table and they enjoyed the unusually wide selection for vegans/vegetarians. Service was friendly and very efficient, our waitress, Sarah, always had a smile for us and managed to check on us without hovering or making us feel rushed. As noted, hostesses were very patient with my request to change table and also super friendly. Good job Toca Madera!
Highly recommend Toca Madera - the Sashimi Mexican and Hibiscus Margs were phenomenal.
When I went to Toca Madera, I was hoping for some good LA Mexican food. Instead, I walked into an extremely loud and overly-swanky Hollywood bar and ate some below-average, overpriced “Mexican” food. I would go back for drinks if I wanted to impress someone, but definitely would not eat here again.
The food was amazing even if the portions are small. Music was great and the overall experience was fantastic!
Gorgeous spot with good food and great drinks
Great thank you!
Love it! Food was amazing! They had a person playing with fire all night (on Tuesday)
The service was great!
They really make you feel special, highly recommend on a Tuesday night
Went for happy hour and had a wonderful selection of bites and service. The drinks are really good too!
Staff was amazing!
unfortunately it was a terrible experience. The food took too long to come. When it finally arrived it was cold an soggy. As I bit on a taco I realized with horror that it was not what I had ordered. It was SHRIMP!! I had ordered meat. This is a terrible and dangerous mistake.
Otherwise the food was just bad. You can get better tacos at any food truck or taco stand in the city. The manager didn't charge for the food. This was our first time here. It will be the last.
When entering, the atmosphere and front desk customer service was excellent and then it went downhill from there. food tasted plain and unseasoned, however the cocktails were great. The waitress lacked customer service, as she avoided our table throughout the night. My friends and I were celebrating a few achievements and unfortunately our night out was not a pleasant first-time experience at Toca Madera.
Overall it was great place. Friendly. Service is fast. We didn’t even wait 15 min for our food,
We had a great time! Food, drinks, ambiance was amazing Our waitress Nikita was fantastic.
I have been meaning to go here for a while and finally me and my husband went on a date here. We were seated upstairs inspite of having few empty tables down. There was just one other table occupied upstairs so the space felt very cold and missed the vibe we were looking for. But after 45mins people started filling up rest of the table. The food was good but nothing blew our mind. I am not sure if I would visit this place again. I feel its very over hyped. But maybe I would have had a different experience had I sat downstairs where the real party was.
