We had a party of four who ordered duck, short ribs, and two types of pasta. The beet salad was good. The entres were just fair. Charging for bread, and a small portion at that, is just unAmerican.

Went in on a last minute, late (for me) night decision. Had to make a reservation an hour away, so we sat at the bar and had a drink. Service, from beginning to end, was top notch. Food for all three of us was amazing. While the ambiance screams "fancy", we felt very comfortable in jeans and sweaters. Very cool place.

The service was great and all the food was really tasty. Our objection is regarding the portion sizes. The entrees were ridiculously small and these were meant to be full sized entrees NOT small plates. I am not a fan of giant over-sized portions but these were really stingy. We would hesitate to go back because of this. Also, when we asked for bread, we were told it was an appetizer so we paid extra for the bread. That was a first.

I have eaten at Toasted Oak many times for lunch and dinner; this was my first time going for Saturday brunch. The service was quite slow despite not being very busy. When the food did arrive the Eggs Benedict was on toast that was nearly impossible to cut through and the dish was quite dried out. My parents both ordered this and we were celebrating my mom's birthday. I felt bad they had such an experience. My meal, the Stratta, was dense, flavorless bread essentially. My husband ordered the chicken sandwich which he said was good, and the breakfast potatoes were also good. The waiter also seemed so unsure and nervous about how to handle food allergies that when he did come back with an answer my kids (who both are allergic to peanuts, tree nuts and sesame) were reluctant to order anything. I think it will be a while before any of us return to Toasted Oak for anything more than a glass of wine.

Nothing special. Just meh. We went to toasted Oak for chicken and waffles which they are known for. Guess what? Unbelievably, chicken and waffles is no longer on the menu. Why? Because they couldn't keep up with The demand. What incredibly stupid management. Here's the most popular dish and rather than accommodate demand they take it off the menu. Maybe they are run by the government. ☹️if you want great chicken and waffles go to Root in White Lake. Better restaurant and chef owned 😄

Our food was delicious. My guest has both dairy and gluten allergies so, the chef had to prepare everything a little different than normal. The mussels were done in a broth (no butter) and were awesome. The steak was done perfectly . I don't have allergies so I ordered some sort of cauliflower entree which was kind of like a steak with a Moroccan sauce, very good.

I usually love this restaurant. This trip my sandwich was just ok (may just be me though). My business associate picked all the pepperoni off his flat bread because he didn't like the taste & cut. Service was not great. Rarely saw our waitress other than when she took our order, delivered our food and dropped the check.

I'm hoping it was just a fluke. Love the ambiance of the place.

I used to love that place. Steak Frites was my favorite. Now it is very ordinary. No more sauce and /or butter. French Fries not has good and crispy. Corn bread is out. Bread with meal is now an extra 7$.

I have been to Toasted Oak twice now and have had excellent meals both times. The menu is not very large and it is definitely pricey, but it is worth it.

Our overall experience was unpleasant.
The table setting was horrible. I was half sitting in the alley and my chair was getting bumped each time someone was walking by. We were sitting next to another table (like 5 inches) and had zero privacy.
The air conditioning was running full blast. We were freezing and I had to wear a cap to protect my head from the cold air flow.
My food was served cold...
The place was extremely noisy. We could barely hear each of other talking.
The atmosphere and the setting resembled more of a bar than a high scale restaurant.
Very disappointing...

The food was overall good, though a bit overpriced. We noticed the bread we were given (and told it was from Zingerman's and was being tested, was a bit overbaked and hard on the outside. The wine and the service were topnotch. Esepecially the service, we were extremely pleased with our server. Our biggest complaint was that it was cold in the restaurant. We appreciated our wine being chilled, but ourselves not so much.

I have been there a few times for a few years- it continues to go down hill in my opinion- we thought we would give it one more shot based on location etc.
We had a 7 pm reservation through open table- got our errands done early so went at 6.
they sat us near the bar - very noisy and a traffic through way for many. When asked for another table right as we sat - we were told we need to take a 2 top as there were many reservations and we could not move.

During dinner there were 6 open 4 tops available - disappointed

then it took about 10 min to get any attention - as many wait staff passed by.

in re to food- surprised -
We both ordered the Steak Frite's- in the past the french fries were true to french bistro cuisine- small and long and thin. These were your regular burger fries. it also took over 3/4 of the plate.
our steak was pre- Cut ( surprised as well ) it was a hanger steak we believe- that was not clear or we missed that part. Mine was cooked perfect- my husbands over cooked- we both ordered medium.

We missed the bread that used to come in the can - quirky but fun.

Also could not believe there was a 7 dollar up charge to the wine- the prices listed did not include it. I understand the up charge - but to not be upfront with that in the pricing was odd.
to add insult to injury - i was sent an email from open table that i did not honor my reservations- i responded that we just came early which i had advised the inexperienced hostess.

Our Waiter was Andre i believe was terrific - he just needs to work somewhere else.

thanks and hope the feedback helps

Great Service! Our server said that he has been there since day one. He knew the menu in and out. We had chicken and waffles and the Hamtramck eggs Benedict. Both were good. Fresh squeezed OJ and good coffee. We would dine here again.

I have been here for brunch twice and both times it did not disappoint. I have had five different items on the menu and ALL of them I would get again!! The Torta is amazing. The cinnamon roll is a must try. The lemon ricotta pancakes are worth trying! The brunch poutine is something I would order over and over again. I might ask for an extra poached egg on the poutine but that is just a personal preference. The mimosa's are worth having with Brunch!!

Used to be one of my fave places in the area. Would come here with my friends for the best duck liver pate and corn bread. Not something you have every day, so it was a special treat. Their orange glazed chicken was amazing too. All gone. "Menu changed". No interest in coming again :(

Excellent place to have a nice meal, good conversation, special occasion. They have accommodated for me large groups as well as two for quiet dining and it has always worked out well. Always good to get a reservation though as it is a spot where a lot of business guests dine especially during the week. Favorite item - grilled Caesar salad is wonderful.

Beet risotto was underwhelming - not great taste. $40+ sea bass, as expensive at it was, should have been much better. (Many places charge closer to $25-30 - happy to pay more, but should be better tasting).

I have eaten here frequently and the experience has always been good. This most recent visit was disappointing. Chorizo Porchetta had no chorizo - just pork cutlets wrapped in bacon ??? Staff seemed stretched very thin. And, previous favorites had been removed from menu ... bring back the corn bread and smoked fish spread !

Very good. Culinary creativeness. The "house" Pinot Noir is one of the best we've ever had. The medallions in the photo were a creative genius, combining Latin & Italian dishes: Chorizo Porchetta. Cooked perfectly! The special trout from Scotland was impressive, as well. The salads were wonderful, grilled Caesar & greens with (gasp) beets (I normally shy away from beets, but these were like my great aunt made). This place never disappoints. The charcuterie dish has been very advanced for my palate in the past; the chess board was an impressive substitute (it was slayed before I got a chance to capture a photo). Very good food! Service was great!!!

I really really wish they would keep my favorite meal in the world on the menu. I have tried to replicate the Garden Variety salad to no avail, so I always try to catch it when I have time to visit Toasted Oak. This was my 3rd visit. But overall my dad was happy, so that made it all worth the trip. But we SPECIFICALLY drove 20 miles so that my dad could taste the best salad in the entire WHOLE world. lol. I nearly cried when the server told me that although a menu item is posted on the website's menu, we should not expect the menu to be up-to-date. #Bummer
