What an absolutely beautiful brunch/breakfast spot. Adjacent to the hotel, and the service is 5/5. Our waitress was very attentive and stopped by our table plenty of times to make sure we were satisfied. Breakfast food was delicious, and we will definitely be back!
My wife and I went here for date night and was not disappointed. The taste combinations were on point.
The brunch food options used to be better but now they are pretty limited. Only had pork breakfast meats and the service was extremely slow. While this used to be a go to now it is overpriced and lower quality with some of the main hitters missing.
The restaurant is a nice place on a rainy day for brunch. The food is uplifting for the weather conditions. I speculate that I can recreate the fruit bruschetta at home. My date's salad had watermelon radishes, which I thought were a nice touch.
Although the food and ambiance of this restaurant was excellent, the service was very slow and we were disappointed with an even more limited menu with three of the lunches not offered because there was no fish that day! The only other seafood options -- scallops -- was three times the price of the fish items. Also, when asked to substitute a salad for french fries I was told there was small upcharge. Um - is $6 a small upcharge? It's probably been 10 years since I left less than a 20 percent tip (I left 15 percent). Disappointed.
Toasted Oak is still going strong! I had the scallops, seared to perfection and my date had the butchers cut which that night was medallions of goat leg. We took our servers advice ( thank you Suze) and ordered the mushroom risotto as a side dish which did not disappoint. A couple of cocktails and a dessert to split, perfect night out!
There is a small menu so everything is really fresh. The seafood has never disappointed which is telling. Always perfectly cooked, seasoned & plated. Lovely small portions rich in flavor, but a slow kitchen makes the dishes overpriced. The friendly (but not hovering) servers keep the drinks a'flowin so that keeps you from eating the napkin. Would love to see an expanded wine list for a pour rather than just the bottle. Great spot.
Located in the Renaissance Hotel near 12 Oaks Mall. Ambiance was very nice as well as the service but my rating of based off the food. The menu seemed to have have delicious food but unfortunately most of the main dishes included Pork so we were not able to try it. Food was decent but small portions. The “third” section was supposed to be bigger than the other sections of the menu yet we still grabbed other food a few hours later. The Chicken was good! and the steak was supposed to be medium well and came out well done and was dry. I also tried their chickpea pasta with lamb and it was VERY salty. i couldn’t even take more than 3 bites. The seasonings added to all the food was very well done and I would be willing to try them again if their menu changes for the Spring.
Expensive, meals were not great, portions were small.
We had an outstanding meal, outstanding service, overall great experience! One of our favorite places… And look forward to visiting again soon! I have food allergies and I have absolutely zero issues when we go to Toasted Oak! Everything is so fresh, and unique!
Definitely in our top three restaurant list! Probably number one!
Great wine deal ... good beet appetizer ... but olive app was filled with olives smaller than blueberries (tough to eat with pits)... took almost 50 minutes for food to come - at 9:00 o'clock hour when restaurant was half filled...had to chase down server to get update ...not good.
Another change to eat here after the new chef / new menu. Everyone was extremely satisfied with their choices. One had flatbread - was surprised she could easily finish the entire thing. Another had a salad and the pasta second. Wonderful dishes both. The third in our party had the beet salad and short rib entree with sweet potato sides. The short ribs were as wonderful as the server promised - but the sweet potatoes were an equal star of the dish. The place can get noisy when it is busy - but not so you can't hold a conversation.
We had a fabulous experience celebrating with family. The staff was very polite and enthusiastic, and all of the food was excellent. We will definitely be back!
This was our third trip and all have been very good, though the service was more attentive on the 2 previous occasions. The service was good this time, but we've had great service previously. This could be because it was Easter Sunday. We will definitely return. Our 3 visits were all for brunch/lunch, so we do not have dinner experience here.
My husband and I sat at the bar while waiting for our reservation. After meeting Phil, the bartender, and the deli manager we decided to stay at the bar. Phil is an AMAZING mixologist and was great company during the Michigan game playing on the TV. He asked us what we typically like to drink and then went to work to create drinks we never knew existed. After asking about the charcuterie board and some of the meats in the deli case, the deli manager offered some tastes of meats that weren’t on the board. He was extremely knowledgeable and helpful once we told him what flavors we prefer. We had no intention of shopping, but ended up leaving with quite a few meats to put our own board together at home. We also had the mushroom risotto, fingerling potatoes and sweet potatoes - all delicious. I highly recommend the bar area for food, drinks and company that isn’t boring.
Good food and our server was attentive. Unfortunately the hostess seemed kind of short with us for no apparent reason. I also wasn’t expecting it to be so loud; somewhat due to loud kids.
Food is great, service is a little slow. Why'd they remove the chicken and waffles and the grilled Caesar salad from the brunch menu? Definitely the best things there.
Great food, great wine, very good service.
Great place!
Service was a little slow tonight. Food was great though,
Fantastic food and great service! The fruit bruschetta was amazing!
went for sat brunch. wonderful menu large mimosa for $9 with $2 refill!! great server Jenna
Newer seasonal menu filled with wonderful dishes, knowledgeable and attentive staff is always first rate.
The happy hour was a great value and delicious!
Waitress wasn’t attentive but everyone else was wonderful!
The food was ok. I ordered the Hamtramck Eggs Benedict and the eggs weren’t poached very well (not in an oval and far over poached since the yolk was cooked through), my knife wasn’t sharp at all and I had to tear the bread, which was half burnt. It also needed more hollondaise sauce. The kielbasa was the only part that was right besides the potatoes.
My wife and I love this restaurant. The stand by’s are great and the specials are fabulous. Great wine selection and mixologist’s can hook you up with anything you could imagine.
Best French influenced food we’ve had in Michigan to date! (My partner is a proud native of France and a bit of a picky eater - this place checked all of his boxes for solid interpretations of his favorite meat delicacies.) The cheese and charcuterie plates and a big red bottle of Zin made for a perfect evening with a special visitor from out of town. Will return again soon for date night!
Outstanding!
The food is really good and the service as well.
Fantastic menu! Nice French feel!
Charcuterie was amazing. Entrees were good but not fantastic. My husband’s $45 steak had a ton of gristle but he said the part that didn’t was delicious. My chicken was good but borderline dry. Snickerdoodle in a pan was not cooked all the way through. They took a dessert off for my husband’s birthday but that just meant we didn’t pay for the gross snickerdoodle. Not really worth the $ considering the other places you can go - unless you just come for the charcuterie and wine.
Good food, waiter was decent. Would have liked different dessert options. Everything was fresh and had good flavor, we were with vegetarians and they both found something on the menu. Great time. Love the cornbread too.
Fantastic meal and service. Flavorful properly seasoned meal. Elk carpaccio, carrot soup, braised short rib, and pork ravioli-all fantastic. Excellent and reasonable bottle of wine - Ona. We splurged on the sour cream doughnut- a bit dry- however the strawberry gelato and chocolate sauce-to die for!! Warm cozy atmosphere in the main dining room by the fireplace. A bit noisy due to several small kids crying! Hopping Happy hour- Can’t wait to go back.
We have been customers on and off at Toasted Oak throughout the years - and over the course of many chef changes. Overall, we really like this local place. We have always enjoyed the wine bar atmosphere, excellent selection to be purchased in-house, and beautiful charcuterie and cheese trays.
Our dinner on this occassion tasted wonderful, but compared to previous visits, we found the prices higher and the portions smaller.
My $8 farm salad was worth $5-6. My husband’s portion of mussels definitely seemed small, especially if it was to be shared.
And although I asked for cornbread and was delivered 2 mini loaves, what happened to the signature, best-I-ever-had, moist and delicious, cooked in a can cornbread??? You need to bring this back!
We ordered the mushroom risotto and cauliflower steak as entrees. Again, both delicious but small for entrees and didnt seem worth the price.
Good Food and ambiance in the restaurant. love the fact that you can buy bottle of wine to take or drink on site.
We were greeted with a complimentary “Champaign “ from Michigan. This sparkling wine was delicious!!!
The market board was very good then the liver pate arrived. The bread was grilled with heavy garlic & so much more delicious than the baguette slices & crackers. Salads are fantastic & my husband really enjoyed the steak frites. We will be back!!
Incredible food, this is Farm-to-table done right! The focus is on high-quality produce and meat, highlighting the flavors while adding a hint of something unique. A beautiful restaurant, the service was top-notch, very friendly staff, highly recommend for a date, birthday, get-together, anything. Love how they have the menu set-up as well. Had everything from the carrot soup to the short rib, nothing short of spectacular, well done!
Awesome everything!
Everything on the Brunch menu looked great. Hard to decide what to order. Even the chef in the group was very impressed. Delicious!
