Our server was awesome. The scenery and overall vibe was very nice. Food was delicious. We'll definitely be back.
Food and atmosphere were great. Food took a little longer to arrive than normal due to high volume Father’s Day. Waiter was very attentive, but not too much, and kept us informed on food delay.
Breakfast was good, great place for a quick bite but the server was slow. I would recommend this place and we might come back
Food, was great, service was great, our waiter was very friendly. Prices were also very reasonable. We sat next to the fire, which was very relaxing! This is one of my new favorite brunch places!
Excellent food and nice environment. The wait staff was very accomodating for us. We went on a Monday night and it was not crowded.
Good atmosphere. Tasty food but took a bit too long to come from the kitchen (restaurant was not busy).
I’ve been to toasted oak in the past and remember the service and food to be far better. Perhaps they aren’t as great at bfast/brunch as they were dinner. The wait staff walked past us dozens of times before I finally asked one to take our order. Took them 30 minutes of us sitting there and then they told us they were sorry because they didn’t see/notice and they had sent another server home. To be frank, no patron wants to hear about the dirty laundry of a restaurant moments before an order is placed. It’s not appealing at all.
In regards to the food; they called the bun with cream cheese frosting “freshly baked” when you can tell it’s been microwaved (what tasted like) one too many times.
The bagel sandwich was subpar and the chicken biscuit was totally not a biscuit. It all could have been exceptional if it didn’t taste like it was all just reheated food from yesterday.
Great beer app...excellent wine...plus good vegetarian selections.
Went for anniversary dinner and had a splendid time. We got a complimentary, celebratory Champagne toast! Just wished we knew to order some sides with the entrees (specifically the scallops). A little pricey for every day though.
Overall, delicious food, ambience, and service.
We are never disappointed when we dine here. Changing seasonal menu is a plus
Everything here is fantastic
Nothing is ever bad
Meat board and cheese board are a must have
Wine selection is phenomenal great prices too
Otherwise that's that a chill spot to either have a drink and a snack or a dine in with full service Always a return to this place every year
The menu never ceases to impress. Great food. I look forward to it every year. I love introducing people to Toasted Oak.
Nice place with an interesting mix of food on the menu. Everything we had was wonderful.
Knowing this restaurant is very noisy, we called in advance and asked to be seated in a side room. We were told no problem. When we arrived we learned the side room was, in fact, not open so we were seated in the main dining area. After 3 different tables (booth was too large for 4, another table was below a chilly air vent) we were seated on the perimeter of the room near the window. It was very difficult to have a conversation without leaning over and repeating what we'd said all evening. The service was fine. Be advised, the '2nd plate' portion sizes are very small. Two people ordered the gnocchi thinking it was an entree but was only side dish portion. Two of us ordered the daily fish grouper. It was very bland and only weighed about 4oz. (I'm not exaggerating, I weigh/measure my food often). Way too small for the price (either $37 or $39).
Our waiter was excellent. Unforunately, every other aspect of the meal was very disappointing. The carrot soup was tasteless. The portions on the fromage and charcuterie platters were miniscule. We waited forever for the entrees to arrive. The frites were extremely oversalted. My steak was undercooked. Overall, not a good experience.
I really like this restaurant but was particularly disappointed with my lunch today... BahnMi sandwich is pretty poor but otherwise, they got it right.
Dinner was great from the drinks, apps, and meals, all delicious.
We were a large group that went for brunch on a Saturday morning. We were promptly seated. Very good options to select from. The Torta was very flavorful and beautifully presented. The side of smashed & fried potatoes was a big hit. Enjoyed to chicken biscuit, too. Coffee was excellent and tea drinkers were pleased with selections
Took over an hour to get our food and the waitress only checked in once. Expected better.
really enjoyed the food and service. Good reviews from everyone in our group. Only problem was that the things tended to be a little loud to have a conversation at the table.
Food was very good. Service excellent, Suze was superb and attentive.
They had a decent menu for vegetarians . Menu wasn’t extremely large but they didn’t over reach either. Cauliflower plank was good but a pretty modest portion.
What an absolutely beautiful brunch/breakfast spot. Adjacent to the hotel, and the service is 5/5. Our waitress was very attentive and stopped by our table plenty of times to make sure we were satisfied. Breakfast food was delicious, and we will definitely be back!
My wife and I went here for date night and was not disappointed. The taste combinations were on point.
The brunch food options used to be better but now they are pretty limited. Only had pork breakfast meats and the service was extremely slow. While this used to be a go to now it is overpriced and lower quality with some of the main hitters missing.
The restaurant is a nice place on a rainy day for brunch. The food is uplifting for the weather conditions. I speculate that I can recreate the fruit bruschetta at home. My date's salad had watermelon radishes, which I thought were a nice touch.
Although the food and ambiance of this restaurant was excellent, the service was very slow and we were disappointed with an even more limited menu with three of the lunches not offered because there was no fish that day! The only other seafood options -- scallops -- was three times the price of the fish items. Also, when asked to substitute a salad for french fries I was told there was small upcharge. Um - is $6 a small upcharge? It's probably been 10 years since I left less than a 20 percent tip (I left 15 percent). Disappointed.
Toasted Oak is still going strong! I had the scallops, seared to perfection and my date had the butchers cut which that night was medallions of goat leg. We took our servers advice ( thank you Suze) and ordered the mushroom risotto as a side dish which did not disappoint. A couple of cocktails and a dessert to split, perfect night out!
There is a small menu so everything is really fresh. The seafood has never disappointed which is telling. Always perfectly cooked, seasoned & plated. Lovely small portions rich in flavor, but a slow kitchen makes the dishes overpriced. The friendly (but not hovering) servers keep the drinks a'flowin so that keeps you from eating the napkin. Would love to see an expanded wine list for a pour rather than just the bottle. Great spot.
Located in the Renaissance Hotel near 12 Oaks Mall. Ambiance was very nice as well as the service but my rating of based off the food. The menu seemed to have have delicious food but unfortunately most of the main dishes included Pork so we were not able to try it. Food was decent but small portions. The “third” section was supposed to be bigger than the other sections of the menu yet we still grabbed other food a few hours later. The Chicken was good! and the steak was supposed to be medium well and came out well done and was dry. I also tried their chickpea pasta with lamb and it was VERY salty. i couldn’t even take more than 3 bites. The seasonings added to all the food was very well done and I would be willing to try them again if their menu changes for the Spring.
Expensive, meals were not great, portions were small.
We had an outstanding meal, outstanding service, overall great experience! One of our favorite places… And look forward to visiting again soon! I have food allergies and I have absolutely zero issues when we go to Toasted Oak! Everything is so fresh, and unique!
Definitely in our top three restaurant list! Probably number one!
Great wine deal ... good beet appetizer ... but olive app was filled with olives smaller than blueberries (tough to eat with pits)... took almost 50 minutes for food to come - at 9:00 o'clock hour when restaurant was half filled...had to chase down server to get update ...not good.
We had a fabulous experience celebrating with family. The staff was very polite and enthusiastic, and all of the food was excellent. We will definitely be back!
Another change to eat here after the new chef / new menu. Everyone was extremely satisfied with their choices. One had flatbread - was surprised she could easily finish the entire thing. Another had a salad and the pasta second. Wonderful dishes both. The third in our party had the beet salad and short rib entree with sweet potato sides. The short ribs were as wonderful as the server promised - but the sweet potatoes were an equal star of the dish. The place can get noisy when it is busy - but not so you can't hold a conversation.
This was our third trip and all have been very good, though the service was more attentive on the 2 previous occasions. The service was good this time, but we've had great service previously. This could be because it was Easter Sunday. We will definitely return. Our 3 visits were all for brunch/lunch, so we do not have dinner experience here.
My husband and I sat at the bar while waiting for our reservation. After meeting Phil, the bartender, and the deli manager we decided to stay at the bar. Phil is an AMAZING mixologist and was great company during the Michigan game playing on the TV. He asked us what we typically like to drink and then went to work to create drinks we never knew existed. After asking about the charcuterie board and some of the meats in the deli case, the deli manager offered some tastes of meats that weren’t on the board. He was extremely knowledgeable and helpful once we told him what flavors we prefer. We had no intention of shopping, but ended up leaving with quite a few meats to put our own board together at home. We also had the mushroom risotto, fingerling potatoes and sweet potatoes - all delicious. I highly recommend the bar area for food, drinks and company that isn’t boring.
Good food and our server was attentive. Unfortunately the hostess seemed kind of short with us for no apparent reason. I also wasn’t expecting it to be so loud; somewhat due to loud kids.
Food is great, service is a little slow. Why'd they remove the chicken and waffles and the grilled Caesar salad from the brunch menu? Definitely the best things there.
