TJ's Seafood Market and Grill - Royal
Fri, Sat 11:00 am–10:00 pm
Joined some friends for a Holiday lunch at TJs. The staff was delightful and very responsive. Food was great. So many "sharing" options!
The quality of food was excellent. Entrees range from 22 to 35, which my husband found pricey, but the food quality lived up to the price. The shrimp cocktail is excellent, the mahi was perfectly cooked, the food was clean, I didn't feel over fed or gross which restaurant food can sometimes do. I'd easily eat here again tomorrow.
Excellent food and a nice quiet environment so conversation was easy. We took advantage of the Tuesday special which is 1/2 price wine by the bottle. We went to celebrate my friends birthday and got a free dessert with a candle. Very nice!
Always a great experience at Tj’s
TJs Seafood is amazing! We had tried the Oak Lawn location, which is closer to our house, but stumbled upon the Royal location and loved it even more! The quality of the food is superior! The Monday Night lobster is the absolute best. My husband loves the salmon burger! He orders it everything he eats at TJ’s.
Just a great place to eat seafood and they also serve a good hamburger. This one of those places we like to return again and again. The fish is fresh (by Dallas standards) and the menu is creative but not overdone. TJs is one of the best in Dallas!
Great food. Service good. Position of table awful. Noise. Next to kitchen.
Food is always great. Service is super.
Everything about the experience was nice but I have to give the food category only three stars because they didn’t have the menu item that I ordered so I have no idea what it tasted like.
My wife ordered the cakes and those were very good!
Service here is always good. Ruth was very friendly and got the order perfect on delivery. Cape Cod swordfish was served some with squash and green beans. Both veggies were a bit under cooked, while the swordfish was perfect. Started with the famous shrimp cocktail and wasabi salad. Always delicious. The seafood chowder was awesome and the bread pudding dessert was perfect.
I've been to TJ's twice in a few weeks. The first time was on a cold day. I had the most amazing pumpkin soup AND it was gluten free. I'm not celiac, but have an allergy to wheat, so I have to be diligent about making proper menu choices.
The 2nd time, no GF soup and only a few GF options. That seemed odd since most seafood restaurants are super GF friendly. I opted for the fish tacos. One on a lettuce wrap which was OK and the other on corn tortilla. The fish was over cooked and the tortilla was so thin, it was soggy from the sauce. The taste was OK, but I had hoped for better. Being an optimist, I'll keep going back. I love the look and feel of the restaurant. I'm just hoping the Chef might be more open to more options.
I should add that the people I was with loved their choices. One said the ceasar salad dressing was out of this world!
Birthday lunch with my sister. The parking in that center is atrocious at lunchtime. The restaurant too busy though and very understanding that I was 15 min late for my reservation. The food was outstanding as usual...lobster roll and steamed mussels were on point! At the end the server brought our dessert with a candle. Overall very nice experience.
Loved the seafood and loved the great service. Very enjoyable lunch with old friends. We were not hurried.
We've always been pleased with this quaint, cozy restaurant. Food is always good. Our Fish and Chips last time should've been a bit crunchier. We will try again.
Absolutely outstanding!!!! And I’m a hard person to please!!
Celebrated Aunt’s 96th BD who requested good seafood dinner. Was a great evening with family and everyone enjoyed the wonderful food and friendly service.
Nothing much wrong, nothing too right. The food was good and well-presented. TJ's is known for fresh fish. Service was fine. The best part of the restaurant is the interior décor. Light, "coastal", modern, and yet with tables big enough to allow dining without over crowding. So why not a better grade? Well, one thing is I eat out, and I'm a tough grader. The dining space is nice, but the parking in the strip center is terrible. And, the food was average in taste, over priced for portion size, and the wine list had too much of a mark up. A bottle of Rombauer Chardonnay, about $34 at Total Wine, was on the list at $80. I also had noted on my reservation that this was an anniversary, which went without mention, much less a complimentary dessert, etc. I would return, but this place needs to improve in customer service and pricing or a competitor like The Mercury will eat its lunch. So to speak. And don't get me started on how much of a competitor Fish City Grill is, and it isn't anywhere near this price point.
We were both really disappointed with T.J.s on Saturday night. The only redeeming aspect was the very friendly service. We have gone there fairly frequently and have found that the kitchen sorely lacks a decent chef. The food is simply poorly prepared.
We may use the seafood market on occasion, but not likely to go back to the restaurant unless we hear that the food has improved. Really too bad.
Really enjoyed the seafood there. Second time there, will go back again
Great preparation and meal, but unbelievably loud. Everyone had to yell to be heard! Why can’t DALLAS have some quiet restaurants?
Very nice cozy restaurant. Good food. Nice presentation. Good service.
The fish is always delicious at TJs. I’ve been here several times, including lunch, and find it noisier at lunch and cozier and quieter at dinner. I delighted in the halibut, but the fish and sides were a bit too cool for my taste. Had the dinner been hot, I would have given 5 stars. I will definitely go back; overall the dining experience is very good.
Wonderful food and attentive service - great combination!
Ruth was our server, and she was delightful— very knowledgeable, energetic and attentive without being intrusive.
We went to TJ's this week, for the first time, for my mother's birthday dinner. The restaurant was clean and bright. The atmosphere was comfortable and casual. Brianna took very good care of the six of us. We started with some really nice wine - recommended by their wine sommelier - which we enjoyed even more because it turned out to be half price bottles of wine night! In addition to the friendly, knowledgable, and attentive service, the food was excellent - beautifully plated and delicious. We all enjoyed our food, but the Miso Glazed Chilean Seabass - with coconut rice (at Brianna's suggestion - thanks, again, Brianna!!!) - was the favorite. We finished with key lime cheesecake and a chocolate concoction that I think was called a "smore". The former was smooth and deceptively light in texture; the latter was a big ol' gooey mess of sweet, guilty pleasure.
Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed this first (but hopefully not last) experience at TJs.
Food was very good, wine list was very pricy.
Everything was good!
We went at Sunday brunch for the lobster rolls. They were the only reason we went. They were out. And they have taken the cold lobster rolls off the menu. We then ordered the tuna sandwich, they were out. It was a total waste of our time.
While the fish is fresh, the cocktails are tasty, the service attentive (mostly), and the atmosphere is casual but nice, the quality of food here is just not consistent, especially for the price point. The food is way overpriced for the quality and the pacing of the food is dreadful. We even started spacing out our orders in hopes they wouldn't rush us but it doesn't work. If the table orders an app, some salads, and some entrees, expect the salad to become soggy while you finish your app, and your entree to start getting cold while you finish your salad; guaranteed every time and I am a fast eater. This is not a fast casual concept but the food comes out like it is one.
The cesar salad is tops though. I don't know how they do it but it stands out; it's always amazing.
For casual and, at times, tasty seafood, I would recommend giving this place a try; for an overall experience, there are much better places in town. I will probably try TJ's again out of hopes it can be as good as it sometimes is.
Loved this place! Service was impeccable, very friendly. Seating is tight but they do a great job with the space. And the food was amazing! My sea bass was one of the best I've had in a long time and everything else we got was awesome - we will definitely be back. Can't say enough great things!
My husband and I had never been to TJs before and it did not disappoint. The waitress was knowledgeable and recommended some great menu options as well as trying some wine before purchasing a glass. The food was great to.
The happy hour schedule was posted in the restaurant and she informed us about that as well. Monday lobster night sounds like a fun time!
Great crabcakes. James was out awesome attentive server. He let us camp out at his table and visit long after we finished our meal.
Food was excellent but we couldn't try the calamari because they dumped out their old fryer oil and forgot to bring in more....had to drive it up from their Oak Lawn location. Ordered the mussels which were quite good but they forgot to bring out plates for the table and we had to track down a server as our waiter was making drinks and sort of forgot about us for a bit (no big deal). The swordfish was very good and would recommend the food to anyone. You can pretty much wear whatever you want during their lunch/brunch hour which is nice. Will go back.
The sea bass was extremely salty.
Have often picked up fresh seafood and other items to cook at home but I have never dined in at this location before. I had a lovely seafood chowder with a perfect glass of Sauvignon Blanc and my friend had their Pinot Grigio with her fish and chips asking for the truffled option on the chips, which she said were extraordinary.
We wanted dessert but opted out after a wait.
Look forward to going back.
When TJ's opened a few years ago we went three times. The food was always good but the service was so chaotic we vowed never to return. A couple of weeks ago we decided to take a chance and try them again. Not only have they resolved the service issues but the food now is even better. And it's quiet enough to actually have a conversation with your dinning companions, a rarity in quality Dallas restaurants sadly. TJ's is now on our short list of favorites restaurants.
Our waiter, James, was the highlight of this meal! He was outstanding and very patient with the kids. The food wasn't quite as good as usual and the wine pour was terribly light. I get maybe it was the end of a bottle, but it was inadequate. Not sure what was going on at the kitchen or bar, but our interaction with James put this meal over the top!
Really nice evening with good friends. The food was fresh, beautifully prepared and served. This is a perfect "neighborhood" gem.
We enjoy the food and staff here every time we go. The freshness of the seafood should be the standard for Dallas. From drinks to appetizers to entrees, we can always find multiple offerings of interest and we always leave with a smile. The seasonal changes in menu always seek to take advantage of what is in season.
We are frequent diners at TJs. We have never been disappointed. It is a great eatery, particularly on Sunday afternoons and evenings when the pace slows.
