Great preparation and meal, but unbelievably loud. Everyone had to yell to be heard! Why can’t DALLAS have some quiet restaurants?
Very nice cozy restaurant. Good food. Nice presentation. Good service.
The fish is always delicious at TJs. I’ve been here several times, including lunch, and find it noisier at lunch and cozier and quieter at dinner. I delighted in the halibut, but the fish and sides were a bit too cool for my taste. Had the dinner been hot, I would have given 5 stars. I will definitely go back; overall the dining experience is very good.
Wonderful food and attentive service - great combination!
Ruth was our server, and she was delightful— very knowledgeable, energetic and attentive without being intrusive.
We went to TJ's this week, for the first time, for my mother's birthday dinner. The restaurant was clean and bright. The atmosphere was comfortable and casual. Brianna took very good care of the six of us. We started with some really nice wine - recommended by their wine sommelier - which we enjoyed even more because it turned out to be half price bottles of wine night! In addition to the friendly, knowledgable, and attentive service, the food was excellent - beautifully plated and delicious. We all enjoyed our food, but the Miso Glazed Chilean Seabass - with coconut rice (at Brianna's suggestion - thanks, again, Brianna!!!) - was the favorite. We finished with key lime cheesecake and a chocolate concoction that I think was called a "smore". The former was smooth and deceptively light in texture; the latter was a big ol' gooey mess of sweet, guilty pleasure.
Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed this first (but hopefully not last) experience at TJs.
Food was very good, wine list was very pricy.
Everything was good!
We went at Sunday brunch for the lobster rolls. They were the only reason we went. They were out. And they have taken the cold lobster rolls off the menu. We then ordered the tuna sandwich, they were out. It was a total waste of our time.
While the fish is fresh, the cocktails are tasty, the service attentive (mostly), and the atmosphere is casual but nice, the quality of food here is just not consistent, especially for the price point. The food is way overpriced for the quality and the pacing of the food is dreadful. We even started spacing out our orders in hopes they wouldn't rush us but it doesn't work. If the table orders an app, some salads, and some entrees, expect the salad to become soggy while you finish your app, and your entree to start getting cold while you finish your salad; guaranteed every time and I am a fast eater. This is not a fast casual concept but the food comes out like it is one.
The cesar salad is tops though. I don't know how they do it but it stands out; it's always amazing.
For casual and, at times, tasty seafood, I would recommend giving this place a try; for an overall experience, there are much better places in town. I will probably try TJ's again out of hopes it can be as good as it sometimes is.
Loved this place! Service was impeccable, very friendly. Seating is tight but they do a great job with the space. And the food was amazing! My sea bass was one of the best I've had in a long time and everything else we got was awesome - we will definitely be back. Can't say enough great things!
My husband and I had never been to TJs before and it did not disappoint. The waitress was knowledgeable and recommended some great menu options as well as trying some wine before purchasing a glass. The food was great to.
The happy hour schedule was posted in the restaurant and she informed us about that as well. Monday lobster night sounds like a fun time!
Great crabcakes. James was out awesome attentive server. He let us camp out at his table and visit long after we finished our meal.
Food was excellent but we couldn't try the calamari because they dumped out their old fryer oil and forgot to bring in more....had to drive it up from their Oak Lawn location. Ordered the mussels which were quite good but they forgot to bring out plates for the table and we had to track down a server as our waiter was making drinks and sort of forgot about us for a bit (no big deal). The swordfish was very good and would recommend the food to anyone. You can pretty much wear whatever you want during their lunch/brunch hour which is nice. Will go back.
The sea bass was extremely salty.
Have often picked up fresh seafood and other items to cook at home but I have never dined in at this location before. I had a lovely seafood chowder with a perfect glass of Sauvignon Blanc and my friend had their Pinot Grigio with her fish and chips asking for the truffled option on the chips, which she said were extraordinary.
We wanted dessert but opted out after a wait.
Look forward to going back.
When TJ's opened a few years ago we went three times. The food was always good but the service was so chaotic we vowed never to return. A couple of weeks ago we decided to take a chance and try them again. Not only have they resolved the service issues but the food now is even better. And it's quiet enough to actually have a conversation with your dinning companions, a rarity in quality Dallas restaurants sadly. TJ's is now on our short list of favorites restaurants.
Our waiter, James, was the highlight of this meal! He was outstanding and very patient with the kids. The food wasn't quite as good as usual and the wine pour was terribly light. I get maybe it was the end of a bottle, but it was inadequate. Not sure what was going on at the kitchen or bar, but our interaction with James put this meal over the top!
Really nice evening with good friends. The food was fresh, beautifully prepared and served. This is a perfect "neighborhood" gem.
We enjoy the food and staff here every time we go. The freshness of the seafood should be the standard for Dallas. From drinks to appetizers to entrees, we can always find multiple offerings of interest and we always leave with a smile. The seasonal changes in menu always seek to take advantage of what is in season.
We are frequent diners at TJs. We have never been disappointed. It is a great eatery, particularly on Sunday afternoons and evenings when the pace slows.
Great date spot for excellent quality seafood!
Great service made our first experience here for dinner a enjoyable time! Would definitely recommend the establishment for seafood!
Love the grilled shrimp tacos and honey brussel sprouts, would order again next time
Despite fresh and well prepared fish, the portion size was small and if we hadn’t had desserts, we would have left hungry. Surprised for the prices charged for a piece of bronzino the size of an iPhone 6 when one might have expected the entire fish, this was a disappointment. This held true for all dishes ordered. Service was great and again the preparation tasty but tiny.
The service was very good as has always been the case. The Hot Lava Shrimp appetizer was nothing short of spectacular and the Calamari is the best in town. The wild halibut is simply, but perfectly prepared and there are many traditional and some innovative sides that never disappoint. The place was packed.
The food was fantastic the waitress was not that friendly or welcoming
Really enjoyed our meal at TJs, we’ll definitely be back. Thank you!
Shrimp cocktail is the best we’ve had anywhere; linguine with clams was great, too. Husband said the gumbo was good but a little thick, but his scallops were excellent. Service was good once they decided who would take the table. Great seafood in a very busy, friendly atmosphere.
Wonderful specials on Saturday night . Very creative sea scallops with peas and fennel . Great tortilla soup . Copper river salmon on the menu as week . Head and shoulders above other seafood restaurants in town .
Fresh seafood. Incredible flavors
A friend and I went for dinner and split the mussels, focaccia, tuna tartar and the chocolate bread pudding. It was all wonderful! Our server was so wondeful! Very friendly, attentive and anticipated our needs! My only comment is that I wish they gave more bread with the mussels. Let's face it..the best part about a fabulous mussel dish is sopping up all the broth with bread. So double up the bread portion and it's perfect!
Way over priced. Only a 5 oz pour for a $16 glass of wine. We had excellent service from a friendly staff, but our seafood dishes were small and average quality. I had hoped this would be my neighborhood spot. Not many people there on a Friday night when other restaurants in the center were jammed with people waiting to get a table.
The food and service always exceeds expectations.
Great - as always!
If you haven't been to TJ's at Preston /Royal then you are missing out on a neighborhood gem . It's the best fish restaurant in town . Oysters are fantastic . The fish specials are always the freshest based on the season . Vegetables are always seasonal . The fish or shrimp tacos are the best in town . Period . Great wine selections . Wonderful bar scene and cocktails if your waiting on a table . It's just that good .
Drinks were solid. As always, food was excellent from appetizers to entrees. Consistently the most reliably fresh and well prepared seafood in Dallas
Nice clean place. Good food. Celebrated our 26th wedding anniversary. I will return.
We love the fresh fish at TJs. We come here often and are never disappointed. Best Ceaser salad in town. Seriously.
It’s a wonderful neighborhood restaurant with fresh and flavorful food. It’s easy to eat healthy at TJs.
