One can get a lot of good work done over a veggie bene, grits, fresh juice and coffee regularly refreshed by the excellent staff. TJ’s never disappoints.
We sat in the bar area instead of the dining room. It was more pleasant and we could people watch and see the lobby with all it’s Christmas decorations. It was a lovely way to spend a Saturday afternoon.
My husband and I went on Jan 1st hoping that the Christmas decorations had not been taken down in the hotel since we were unable to make reservations for an evening during Dec. We were pleased that they had not been and enjoyed our first day in the New year. The atmosphere was quite pleasant.
Disappointing After reserving months ahead of time, the decor was beautiful but the food was poor. Pork had to be taken back to the kitchen - lots of fat and cold. They gave us 10 percent off the but you don't go to a venue like that for a discount.
A wonderful memory at Christmas. We shall try to come every year from now on...Beautiful...and the service was excellent...Good Southern charm
We always visit the Jefferson at Christmas. Both the food and decorations are wonderful.
We enjoy going to the Jefferson for the holidays; it truly cannot be beat for the environment. Everyone enjoyed their meal but don't order the crab sandwich. The crab has no seasoning at all, is all mashed up and is on an English muffin that you can hardly see or taste. I actually asked the waiter if there was a top to the muffin, and she pointed out it was hidden under the slice of tomato. We will return next year, and I'll try something else!
Ordered crab cake sandwich for lunch, it was the worst tasting crab cake. It was hard to taste any crab meat or crab flavor. My husband ordered a cheeseburger and he indicated it wasn't anything to talk about.
We both razed about the french fries.
I was very surprised because the food has always been very good at TJs. This was a disappointing lunch for us.
Celebrated birthdays with lunch at TJ's. Enjoyed the food, service and atmosphere. Wonderful way to celebrate with friends.
We took good friends visiting from Canada to lunch at TJ's. Anyone who comes to Richmond must see the magnificent Jefferson Hotel. The service was excellent but the food was mediocre at best.
Great foood and service was excellent!
Always great service and great food! I done here often and recommend highly!
The food was kind of plain, but overall a very good experience with good value and great service!
TJ's is an upscale hotel restaurant set in a national treasure of a building. The food was well prepared and the variety of choices was good.
My husband and I celebrated our 48th wedding anniversary by having lunch at the TJ room at the Jefferson Hotel. We made reservations in advance. We parked in the free hotel parking lot. Once inside, we made our way downstairs to TJ’s.
The host greeted us immediately and ushered us to a table next to one of the floor to ceiling windows. Ben, our server, appeared quickly and provided us with ice water as he explained the special of the day. We reviewed the menu while Ben went to get our drinks. When Ben returned, we placed our orders.
I had the salmon entrée and he had the grilled chicken sandwich with a fruit bowl. The portion sizes were just right. We both had ice tea. Our food arrived in a reasonable amount of time. The meals were hot and appealing. My sandwich was expertly seasoned. Ben came by a few minutes after serving our meals to check to see if everything was okay. He also returned a couple of times to refill our drinks and ask if we needed anything.
The food, service, elegance, and atmosphere was everything we expected from an establishment of this caliber. We will be back for another enjoyable lunch.
Jonathan excellent server
We had an excellent meal and our server, Jane, was a doll. The food was delicious and plentiful. Overall a wonderful experience in a beautiful place.
The service was perfect. The food was perfect. I can't wait to go back.
Outstanding service and great food! My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed this experience and can't wait to return.
Out of town guests to see Richmond and wanted to dine somewhere special
Other than food, everything was great. My salmon was overcooked (ordered for medium rare) and not fresh. I left most of it on the plate. I hope the kitchen studies what is left on the plate to get a cue on what went wrong.
The food is just a step above. They go the extra mile to make sure the food is top quality and taste out of this world.
We came for my Mother in Law's 70th birthday. I asked (late) to be placed in the Rotunda because she has difficulty walking and our request was granted. We had 2 children, 9 and 5, and they were treated exceptionally well by our server, Mark. I would like to commend him on his friendliness, attentiveness and professionalism. I was a Banquet Captain for 4 years at the Jefferson and felt very proud of the service, cleanliness, ambiance and overall experience for my family last Sunday. Thank you! Job well done!
Sunday brunch at the Jefferson - always a special treat. Wide selection, great food and excellent service. The eggs Jefferson and the Jefferson spoon bread are "must try" offerings.
Very nice and the service was great. The music was a nice touch. Food was plentiful.
We were on vacation, had taken a tour and the Jefferson Hotel was highly recommended in the tour. My husband even ordered what the tour guide had suggested: Peanut Soup and a Caesar's Salad with Fried Oysters. The tour guide Steven's recommendation was spot on - now we highly recommend it also!
We took our Boss here for lunch as she doesn't get to see much of Richmond when she comes in for a visit. She was completely in awe when walking through the Jefferson Hotel and was thrilled with the food and service at TJ's. Nice middle of the day escape from work. Absolutely perfect, highlight of her trip here!
Hailey was a professional server--efficient, polite and appropriately friendly and attentive. Delicious Cobb salad.
We are from out of town and were taken to the Jefferson by our daughter who is a graduate student at VCU. We had a phenomenal brunch! Not only is the hotel beautiful and stately, but the food was outstanding--all of it from the breakfast to lunch/dinner fare!! And our waitress Sheila couldn't have been any nicer or more accommodating! I would HIGHLY recommend this brunch! What a wonderful Richmond treasure!
Usually very good service but it was Mother's Day & we had to waive down the staff for coffee refills. Staff was friendly but over stretched! Won't go for brunch on a holiday but will go back.
