Tivoli & Lee is a Southern style restaurant in downtown New Orleans. This is an upscale, classy restaurant with a stunning interior. As soon as you walk in, elegant decorations and beautiful style surround you. When you go and sit by the bar, Tivoli & Lee offers something unique with a Bloody Mary bar; your vodka is poured, and afterward you can mix anything in with it that you would like. You can also order bottomless mimosas with any lunch.
Tivoli & Lee takes typical southern meals and adds a hint of class to them. Start you meal off with the popular avocado fries before moving on to the lunch and dinner menu. Dishes, such as chicken and waffles, Elvis French Toast and crawfish bowls are all featured on the menu. Meals are served with extra large biscuits.
We were seated as soon as we arrived, and there were only a handful of people in the restaurant. The two of us waited 15 minutes before anyone came by to take our brunch drink order. We ordered bottomless mimosas that were listed on the menu and were told restaurant was "out of bottomless mimosas" but that we could get a glass or a carafe of mimosas. Confused, we asked what the server meant, and she said they only offered a bottomless Bloody Mary, not mimosa, anymore. How about taking it off the menu then? Waited another 15 full minutes for drinks to arrive from the bar (which only had 4 people sitting at it). Ordered the French toast and asked if we could get a side of Gouda grits (yes), also ordered an avocado sandwich. Since I don't eat meat, I asked to make sure there wasn't any on the sandwich which was described as being on toasted sourdough bread with carrots...just checked menu online and discovered restaurant is closing as of March 23. Thank goodness, it needs some serious help.
The food was OK, but unhealthy. The service was sloppy. The oysters were tiny.
From the beginning, I should've known going here was a mistake. The restaurant wouldn't take OpenTable reservations for parties of 6. I called multiple times and left multiple voicemails over a span of a week, I was never called back. I was the first in my party to arrive and when I told them that no one had ever returned my call, the excuse was that "Sometimes the phone doesn't ring loud." No table was ready for us and we waited 20 minutes for the other "big group" of 5 people to leave. We sat at the table for 15 minutes before we were asked what we'd like to drink. We were told then that, although they advertise bottomless mimosas (it's even on their menu) they had just stopped doing them... that very day. They then offered us either 1) single mimosas at $3/each or 2) a carafe of mimosas that contained 4 mimosas... at $15/each, which would mean we'd be paying for a mimosa that we didn't get. We decided to do single mimosas because it was cheaper. That in itself was a huge mistake. They were grossly understaffed and it took us forever to get our second mimosa - we even had to get up and go find our waitress to tell her we'd like to order more because she was nowhere to be found. The appetizers we had were decent but the six biscuits we received were priced at a whopping $28. We then decided to bite the bullet and order two carafes of mimosas so that we could actually drink more than just two small glasses during the entire brunch, but it took forever to get those as well. By the time we got our food, it was about an hour later. I wish I could say the food made up for the wait but I was disappointed again. I ordered the burger - its description made it sound delicious - fail. The meat was grossly overcooked and the bun was hard as a rock. We then had to wait for the credit cards to get run through - another 20 minutes - while my parking meter kept expiring and I kept having to go back out and pay for more parking time.
Two words: Never. Again.
I hate to even say this because I like this place so much but we had to request refills on mimosas and sodas and water numerous times while we were there.
They either didn't have enough staff or no one was in charge. It took some time to be seated. No one was at the host stand. Our table was marked as reserved with our name on it.
After waving someone down we got brunch menus, which we should have gotten when we were seated. I asked for the breakfast menu as well since the website clearly said there was an hour overlap on the weekend when both were served. Someone yelled across the restaurant to say that breakfast was over.
And that was it. No one approached our table again for anything. After we had the menus for 15-20 minutes, and no acknowledgment of our existence, we got up and left.
Don't go there.
Took 20 minutes for one drink, disorganized and disinterested. Watched four other groups leave before we complained to the manager and also left-- TERRIBLE!
The service was so horrible that we actually had to walk out of the restaurant. The waitress while polite barely spoke english. She could not take our order properly. And when she eventually brought some food to the table, which took over 45 minutes for bread basket and appetizers, she could not explain what the dishes were. She frankly said "i dont know what each of these things are" Thats mind boggling to me for a waitress not to know what she's serving. At that point we were fed up and walked out. I've never done that in my life until this experience. Will never go back or recommend this restaurant to anyone
The hotel had a limited menu two out of three servers did not speak English and the manager was rude
It is extremely difficult to get bad seafood in New Orleans, but this place somehow managed. We were seated right away. The full dinner menu was not offered. Instead there was a limited menu printed on a card. The waiter was adorable but spoke little English. He was the high point of our meal. The restaurant was less than half full. It was a very long time until anyone came to take our order. We ordered directly from the menu with no special requests or substitutions. I ordered the seafood platter. ( fish, shrimp, oysters, and fries ). It was served with only a cup of ketchup. I asked for cocktail sauce and tartar sauce. The waiter didn't know what that was. I elaborated that these were the sauces that typically come with seafood. He went to the kitchen. He came back with a pen and paper for me to write down what I was asking for. ( seriously?! ) He came back and said we don't have any of that. The fish and oysters were properly cooked but the shrimp were tiny and so over cooked they were difficult to get a fork through. They were so small that I stabbed 4 at a time for one bite. Just dreadful. I've eaten here before. Just avoid this place. There are hundreds of great places to eat in the city.
As a long time resident and lover of all things NOLA, this place is such a disappointment. The view of Lee Circle and the uptown parade route is the ONLY reason I have tried to eat here more than once. Absolutely terrible service, completely unedible food. What a waste. Wish I could give zero stars.
Unfortunately we had an inexperienced waitress, this resulted in long waits for drink refills and confusion about the bill
The food was not very good at all, especially for the price. The fries were soggy and cold, the mac n cheese was worse than Kraft honestly. The service wasn't that great either.
The place has a nice quiet atmosphere away from the bourbon street experience. That being said the menu was heavily reduced they couldn't even make a Caesar Salad. The dishes we did get were good and the server was nice.
We had a group of 5 for brunch. The service was horrible. When you order the bottomless mimosa at bar, you have to continue to get up from table to get refills. They could transfer your bar bill to table. The staff was very unfriendly. Except for Tyrone he was very nice
We decided to experience the brunch on our most recent visit. Reservations were recommended so we did so. When we got there the restaurant was practically empty. (10:30 a.m. reservations) The Mimosas were great, however, there was a meal featured on the menu with avocado. That was my preference. The meal was no longer available so I had to switch to something else. I chose the Chicken and Waffles. When chicken and waffles have been served in the past, in every restaurant that I have every ordered it, the chicken was always wings. I was a little surprised when I received my plate on two levels. The amount of chicken that I thought was chicken tenders or at minimum, breast meat. I was disappointed that the meat mostly tasted like dark meat and crust. I don't eat dark meat. The waffles were hard and appeared to be from a box. Not sure if how far away the kitchen was, but the food was cold when it got there. I muscled through, why - the wait staff was impeccable and the bottomless mimosas. Not worth the price or the experience.
We showed up for our reservation and saw no host or staff members-- not even a bartender. There was one table of two dining already-- but that's it. We waited for a few minutes, then decided to head elsewhere.
It's a shame, I enjoyed bringing our keynote speakers there for a conference last spring. But alas, it seems to be on its way out. :/

Literally had no service for 30 minutes. Got up from the table to get a drink list and a staff member (not our server) came by a few minutes later with it AFTER our the server came over (for the first time) to get our orders. We got up to leave and the two surrounding tables literally cheered us on as we left. How is this place even open still?
From the second we walked in, to the moment we left....every single experience was just horrible! To begin, no-one greeted us (or anyone else) when we walked in. In plane sight, both waitresses completely ignored us and we had to go to the bar to ask for someone to seat us. The bartender even said "ok, please wait and someone will be with you".....mind blowing! After waiting 20 minutes we finally placed our order which they got wrong and then tried to deliver French fries to our table three times after we told them we did not order French fries. We also over heard them trying to give the table next to us extra cornbread even though they did not order a double order. Complete waste of food. A third table of 4 just walked out after being seated because no one came to the table to even get their drink order after 10 minutes of being seated.....and the restaurant was NOT even full (now we know why). The fourth table that walked in after us was waiting on two additional guest, the "hostess" told them they didn't have a table for six even though they made a reservation and said they could put them in the middle of the restaurant and add chairs if they want.....really! Well, things got even worse for that table because the waitress ended up pouring the whole tray of drinks on the gentlemans NYE suit, then laughed in shock as she walked away. Didn't even say sorry or ask if he needed towels. So sad that the whole restaurant was talking, wondering if we were all being punked! All I can say is WOW......never again!!!!!!!
I wont go in to details of the food. It was actually fantastic. The issues were the service, and the ambience. My wife and I arrived about 15 minutes before the restaurant actually opened. The hostess was kind enough to seat us early, but informed us that they didnt actually open until 6. That was fine with us. However, she sat us, and that was it. No waiter came to us until 6, while there was a "happy hour" menu sitting on our table... If I couldn't have ordered from the happy hour menu at the table, then why was the menu at the table? Or, why didnt she tell us this?(truthfully I did not actually ask if we could order from the happy hour, mostly because there was no waiter that was tending to us yet, and secondly because I am not one to make a fuss over something. It wasn't really a big deal, just something we noticed.) Once it was time to actually order, we placed a drink order, one glass of wine for my wife, and a cocktail for me. The drinks took 12 minutes to get to us. Mind you, there was literally 3 people at the bar, and so far no one else at the tables. The food came out eventually, 25 minutes after we ordered with all the wrong sauces that were advertised on the menu. Still no-one in the restaurant besides us. We did eventually get the right sauces and the food was delicious. The last thing that bugged me about this place was that the hotel it is associated with is dog friendly, which is awesome, we have a dog. However, there were 2 people that walked through the restaurant with their dogs... And apparently are allowed to? This may not seem weird to some, but seems very off for a restaurant to me. The hostess was on her phone at the bar the entire time we were there until other patrons showed up. Our waitress was extremely nice, and was quick to fix the food/sauce issue we had. The food was delicious, but the service and ambience was lacking.
horrible! thank god it's closed!! was good a long time ago, but somehow it slipped. food and service were terrible, and we had to wait a long time for our food, even though we were the only customers in the place...
We made reservations on 12/19/15 to Tivoli & Lee. We showed up at the time of our reservation and weren't acknowledged by anyone for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, the bartender asked us to seat ourselves, which wasn't a problem because there were only two other tables taken in the entire restaurant. Another 10 minutes went by before the waitress made it to us. She handed us a menu and said she'd be back with the drink menu. After another 10 minutes, she made it back with our drink menu and said she'd be back to take our order shortly. After 20 more minutes we just got up and left. If you're counting, that's 50 minutes of absolutely no service in an empty restaurant. I could understand if this type of service happened on a night when the restaurant was packed, but when there were only two other tables in the entire place, it's hard to accept.
This was my worst dining experience in New Orleans ever. I had reservations and walked into a dining room that was completely empty at 7:30 pm on a Friday night. That would have been ok if I was even acknowledged. Stood around for 10 minutes and no one even said hello or offered to seat us. The bartender acted busy and looked away. I finally decided to leave.
The ambience is not much to talk about and at first we were a bit skeptic about the lack of it, but once the food began to arrive from the kitchen, the aromas and tastes transformed the surroundings and after all what more could you really want from a restaurant than good, creative and inspiring food. Hats off to the chef. The one nice thing about the place, which is small, are the large windows and a view of the constant comings and goings of several street car lines that converge around the Lee square just outside. Luckily the noise from the street was not noticeable.
The restaurant has potential however an inexperienced wait staff, unavailable menu items and over seasoning of food makes this a pass. The only bright light was the unlimited mimosas. In a city full of brunch spots, move this one to the very bottom of your list.
The location of this place makes it a challenge as it doesn't receive a lot of foot traffic, but it's a real gem with a VERY impressive and creative Louisiana menu. PUT THIS PLACE ON YOUR LIST OF GO-TO-PLACES!
Went for brunch. I had the burger, my wife had the Kim Chi beignets. Both had a nice taste. We also took part in the Make your own Bloody Mary area. A pretty good taste, although we only had 1 each. Unlimited Bloody Mary's were an option for a reasonable price, but as we had a long day ahead of us we decided to pace ourselves. The only issue I had was the ambiance was rather run of the mill,nothing stood out. The one thing I did like was an image of Christopher Lee at the entrance to the restaurant, but that was it. Maybe a little different in the evening but nothing special for brunch.
The Sunday brunch food was very good, but the staff was not attentive at all. Overall the experience was very disappointing.
We've dined before for breakfast and loved it! Unfortunately, the food this time was either inedibly salty or under seasoned.
Were in not for the unlimited $10 mimosas, this would be a 1-star rating. After walking in to the the restaurant (which was 75-80% full), we waited a full 10 minutes before we were even acknowledged (and that was by a passing waitress). There were at least 4 waitstaff & bussers as well as a bartender working, but no hostess and certainly no one filling-in for the position. When we were finally able to order, the food did arrive in a timely manner. Unfortunately, it was mediocre at best. The buttermilk biscuits were flavorless and the cane sugar butter spread they came with was entirely melted.
My "avocado toast" was essentially a bland guacamole with oversized cucumber & radish pieces mixed in on a piece of store-bought toast. I only ate half. My friend had just about the saddest hash browns I've ever seen.
It's unlikely that we'll ever return.
Even though we had a reservation, we were left standing for more than 10 minutes with not so much as a hello. We were finally approached by a rude server and her attitude was so poor that we asked not to be served by her. Food was okay, but will not be returning.
Strongly recommended if you are looking for an incredibly tasting meal served with care and a personal, endearing touch.
Our waiter was courteous but it took over an hour to get our food. That would be understandable if the place was busy but there was only three tables. That's including our table and another table that was already paying the bill when we walked in. I was hoping the food was worth waiting for, but sadly it wasn't.

Fried chicken biscuit was amazing!! Quick service and glass never got empty with the unlimited mimosas. Might have went on a slow day, but energy could have been a little higher. Overall great food and good service.
Not a fan for brunch. Would be willing to give dinner a shot if the service hadn't been so horrid.
Got the fried green tomatoes and the Tivoli burger. The fried tomatoes were cut into wedges, a nice touch and served with a roaster corn & paprika aioli, very, very good. Unfortunately they also had raw jalepeno slices in the mix, unforgiveably hot and without purpose. This from a guy that keeps a bottle of sriracha sauce with him at all times. The burger was cooked to order and very good, the potato roll didn't hold up but the burger itself was quite good.
Presentation was not good. Food was at times under-salted (bland), and another dish was overly seasoned, laughable. Not a good experience.
Food was not desirable, presentation poor, and very sloppy addition of some ingredients and seasonings that were overdone, while mostly undersalted/bland.
