Tisha's Ratings and Reviews
Bad management. If you are going to serve just what you have left before closing for the winter--then tell your customers, or make an accommodation. an apology would be nice as well.
My wife and I were in town for New Years Eve and New Years Day. I know it is off-season, and, not surprisingly, many places were closed. But Tisha's was rated well, the menu looked interesting and so I booked it for January 1.
Short story: half the appetizers were "out". Some of the entrees as well. My dinner came with a "substitute" pasta that a) changed the dish completely, b) was overcooked and mushy, and c) came without a warning that the fettuccine was out.
Dessert? 3 out of 6 out--and no ice cream for the remaining ala mode items.
All not the end of the world--but no warning given. Nothing on the website or the Open Table reservation that the menu would be limited. We would have gone elsewhere.
Food? Stale bread. My appetizer of pumpkin gnocci was burnt and swimming in oil. My wife's appetizer of New England clam chowder was excellent. My wife's dinner of seafood risotto came without the clams--the server caught it and made the addition. Mine came--I looked at it and said, this isn't what I ordered--and I got a half-baked, oh, sorry, we're out of what you ordered, we substituted this. In other words, f.u.
Clearly everyone from the non-smiling hostess to the kitchen staff had one foot out the door. Fine. Just warn us--or, heaven forbid, cut the price.
We weren't even offered a cup of coffee on the house--again, bad management, bad service,-- just a really bad experience.
We had a delicious dinner at Tisha’s on New Years Eve! Both the food and service were excellent. The short rib pappardelle was great comfort food for such a freezing cold night. The kale caeser salad was also delicious. Worth a visit. You won’t be disappointed!
Our dining experience last eve was as phenomenal as the 3 times before! Excellent food, wonderful ambience and a staff that is truly first rate. Brenda continues to be a delight to see as we 1st walk through the door. We vowed to try as many different restaurants as we possibly could now that we are here on a regular basis...But- we keep finding ourselves drawn to Tish’s!
My husband and I ate here 2 years ago and he's been dreaming about the short rib Bolognese. So....we hopped in the car and drove the 90 minutes to try it again. Tisha's did not disappoint. I started with the kale Caesar and ordered the seafood risotto thanks to our lovely server's recommendation. It was the most amazing thing I've tasted all year! The seafood was so fresh. My husband enjoyed his arancini and of course the short rib Bolognese. He said it was just as delicious as he remembered. Great service, great food, totally worth the 90 min drive! We'll be back!
We went down to cape May to enjoy the Xmas setting with company from Florida. Tisha's was a last minute find. What a fantastic meal!! From start to finish the good was amazing. The waitress was friendly, humourous, and paced the meal perfectly ( Logan ). Everyone had an appetizer that we all shared because each one was delicious. Our main course selection were all done to order and everyone enjoyed their meal. Lastly, dessert topped off a great meal. Oh, and our Florida company picked up the check so WIN, WIN!! We are from OC and have Tisha at the top of our cape May eating list!!
My wife and I returned to Cape May for the Christmas weekend and made reservations at the Washington Inn, the Ebbit Room and Tisha's. The Washington Inn was great as usual but Tisha's was by far the superior restaurant in every category, save ambience, since it's extremely difficult to surpass the décor at the Washington Inn. The food at Tisha's was superb; the service was even better and it was the least expensive of the three. We've truly never once been disappointed at Tisha's over the years.
Have visited tishas many times..1st time for husband..we were not disapointed..lobster bisque very good lotta meaty chunks.
Crab tacos good ,lunch portion 2 . Byob..they do sell nj wines, but only bottles..but at lunch, ice tea fine..server could have used bit more help..
You can always count on Tisha’s for an excellent meal. We come every year to celebrate my birthday in December and also during the warmer months since we live close by in Linwood. Always our first choice ! Food is always delicious and staff friendly and efficient! Highly recommend to all our friends!
Tishas is very pretty inside, not fancy but simple elegance with nice room between the tables. The hostess and server were friendly and attentive, it’s very pleasant.
It’s a BYOB so you don’t have the expense for drinks, but plan on spending over $100 for 2 people with just entrees and coffee. It’s very expensive.
The bread with dipping oil is delicious and we were offered more :) I had seafood risotto cooked perfectly and deep fresh flavors. Just the right portion to enjoy with none left over. My husband had the filet au poive which was on mashed potatoes with green beans on the plate also cooked to perfection. The portion also good for one meal, no leftovers.
All of the options are ala carte so no soup or salad unless you added them. The menu has a great variety to choose from but we just had our entree & coffee.
Perhaps the high cost is because of its location, which is great for walking around Cape May.
Our dinner at Tisha’s was good albeit pricey. My husband had the clam chowder, which was okay, followed by the pappardelle with short rib. I had the jambalaya. They were both good, but nothing outstanding. Service was fine. So a good dinner but at somewhat high prices.
We had another superb meal at Tisha's in Cape May. We usually stop for lunch and have a bowl of their delicious clam chowder but this time, we had dinner there. Each of our meals was excellent. Salmon, veal, pasta and seafood risotto. Tisha's is a BYOB restaurant. We look forward to returning to Cape May and Tisha's!
Wonderful meal on a cold night in Cape May. Not many restaurants are open on a Tuesday in Cape May at this time of year. Fortunately for us Tisha's was. We had a great meal with very good service . It's a tradition with us. We stay at Congress Hall and eat at Tisha's. There were four of us and we all loved our meals.
We were late for our reservation, but our server could not have been more gracious. The dining room was clearing out and she made sure to confirm that there were still tables dining in the back. Our meals, as always, were excellent. Lobster Rachel and Shrimp Curry. This is one of our favorite restaurants in and out of Cape May.
Tisha's is consistently excellent and conveniently located right on the Washington Street Mall. We celebrate my daughters birthday and enjoyed the filet and the lobster ravioli special. We were also pleasantly surprised with a local Cape May Chardonnay. Tisha's does not have a liquor license but can serve local wines. Our service was also very good and we look forward to returning. I would definately recommend Tisha's.
