Tio Pepe Ratings and Reviews
The venue was beautiful and the waitstaff was very nice and accomodating. I was very dissapointed by the food. The French toast looked thrown together and was very small in portion along with the steak and eggs. The food did not match the decor or ambiance of the place. Very Dissapointing.
I went for my birthday brunch with 6 of us in total and we had a 12:15p reservation on a Sunday. The restaurant opens at 12:00pm so there was only my party and another table at the large restaurant. There were plenty of servers/busboys but everything did take a while. Taking down our order, getting our food and our drinks. We got the unlimited 90 min of drinks but we always had to ask for a refill with the amount of servers there you would think they would be vigilant and attentive. We ordered table side guacamole which was never table side for us but another party that came in after 1pm did get that experience. They had a different server which knew what to do. The food wasn't great, the chorizo was sour and the tomato sauce was as if they dumped a can and put it in the microwave. The calamari was okay. Overall would not recommend.
Tio Pepe is a Baltimore standard. The tradition lives on.
As always, cordial and courteous staff well versed in service.
Tables are a bit close. Conversation level rises throughout the evening making it more of a challenge to enjoy.
REcommend: tourenados, garlic shrimp and pine nut cake
Went for the boozy brunch. Frozen margaritas, no on the rocks, but they were finely blended, tasted bar made, not a cheap sweet mix. The Bloody Mary that the bartender in our group ordered, was the best he had ever had. Our waitress kept our drinks well filled, we never had to look for her. The guacamole was delicious, and presented well in a stone mortar, but we would have liked a bigger order. The torta sandwich was fine, the chorizo paella was too salty, the strip steak was fine, and the person that ordered the pancake, the order was one! and dry at that! this was just a half the size of the plate plain pancake. So, you go for the booze, but the food could improve its quantity if nothing else.
I've passed by this place many times and never patroned. Great service and I really loved the appetizers. The paella was good but a bit saltier and didn't have the burnt button. However, the portion is very fair. It was a good enough portion for 3 people and wasn't super expensive. Good wine list and ample space.
We have been going to Tio Pepe for over 30 years. It is quieter now, but still a great place to dine. Think the some of the same staff are still there. This is the place in Baltimore for authentic Spanish cuisine. Had our first Mojito ever there....30 years ago when no one knew what a mojito was.....
I had my dinner here for my 30th birthday, and we had 12 people. While they were not great about getting the party before us to leave(and they had the whole back area open, not sure why we needed this table) they did give us free sangria while we waited. We also were given an extra free bottle of champagne for the birthday toast and free dessert. The food was decent, the paella was a little sauce-y for most of us. Overall we had a good time though.
