Ting Ratings and Reviews
I have been going to Ting since it opened. The manager, Collin, does an excellent job of making sure service is timely but not crowded. The food is truly excellent. My standby is the sushi/sashimi - really good. I had it with the wonton soup - also excellent. We have tried most items on the menu and really did not find any dishes we did not enjoy. Definitely worth a try.
Two of the main dishes had to be sent back because they were cold although the rice was hot (presented in a separate bowl). This did not allow us to eat with our other two family members. When my main course came back the steak was a little tough and only slightly warm. The white wine, Sayuri sake, martini, and the white russian was tasty. I would give this restaurant another try at a later date. Our server was very attentive and friendly (sorry I forgot her name). Also the bus staff. Thank you both.
sadly that the service at Ting was not proportionate with the kind of restaurant that it once was. The food is always excellent but the service has become so poor, slow, the waitress not even aware of us. I do hope that the manager seriously addresses this problem because you can squeak by for a while, but then regular customers like myself are very much aware of the problems and it makes it difficult to keep returning.
Food was great. The food presentations were very impressive and food tasted even better than it looked. Ask for the seat next to the gorgeous fish tank. Definitely had the best seat in the whole place. Made for great atmosphere and made me look like a rock star to my girlfriend haha.
Overall.. food, atmosphere and staff were great. Great choice. Highly recommend
I went to Ting for Huntington Restaurant Week. I think I just picked all of the wrong items off of the menu. My salad choice was Chicken Salad. Not something you would normally order in an Asian restaurant but the description sounded do delightful I couldn’t resist. I should have resisted! The salad was a conglomeration of many things, none of which seemed to have its own personality. The blend was quite nondescript, the dressing boring, and I think they forgot the jicama which is one of my favorite root vegetables. Halfway through my salad, my appetizer Rock Shrimp Tempura arrived. If you know anything about tempura, you know it has to be eaten hot. There were not many people in the restaurant so I don’t know why they were in such a hurry to get me out of there. Not a good sign of the wait staff. After I finished my boring salad, I ate my warm (no longer hot) tempura. It was OK but probably would have been outstanding if it were hot. My entree course was Shrimp Teriyaki – a complete disappointment. The maitre d’ and the hostess were seated at the sushi bar busy with their cell phones. I had an empty water glass for approximately 10 minutes, but they were in such a hurry to serve my food. I really don’t understand what has happened to the restaurant. Maybe it is under new management. I will return because this is the first time that I received such a lackluster meal and such poor service.
Always pleased with whatever we order...we brought a couple who enjoyed it so much the first time that they wanted to come back again. The Rock Shrimp Tempura appetizer was outstanding, ordered by three of us. They both ordered General Tso's chicken - the portions were so large that they both took home enough food for lunch the next day. I loved the Thai Mango chicken and also took home half of it. Everyone that we bring to the restaurant for the first time always wants to come back!! We have never been disappointed. The food is wonderful and the waitstaff is very attentive.
My family and I love Ting and go there often. It's our go to place when we want sushi. Everything is always fresh and delicious. This past visit was on Valentines day and my husband and I shared the special of Filet, lobster tail and scallops along with the Huntington and Regal Rolls - needless to say there wasn't a morsel left! As usual, our kids enjoyed their chicken and rice and lettuce wraps. Dessert was the ever desired molten lava cake and the chocolate fondue special. Thank you Ting and staff for always accommodating and making our night outs great!
Our party of four were seated in circular booth. We felt secluded (that's a good thing). Service was excellent, attentive, friendly, knowledgeable about the menu. Food was delicious. I had one of the fancy rolls and it was possibly the best I've ever had (I don't remember the name but know it had Moro fish inside). I definitely recommend it.
We went there 7:30 PM New Years Eve and needless to say it was crowded. Even with the crowd, we were greeted with a friendly hostess who apologized for making us wait for our table to be cleaned (total waiting time was all of 5 minutes). Service was fantastic and food was awesome.
We highly recommended this restaurant.
The special rolls are pricey but excellent. The standard sushi/sashimi plate is very fresh and well prepared. We've had some other dishes here also such as the Peking duck, which is also excellent. Be careful about the Asian bistro--it seems to depend on the night.
We were here for a celebratory birthday dinner on a Saturday night. First time to this restaurant which we chose based on the Zagat rating and reviews on OpenTable.
The table was ready on time and the restaurant was pretty full. It is quite large. We were greeted by our waitress and received our drink order in a timely manner. The Mai Tai cocktails however were not drinkable. They tasted like cherry juice. We sent them back to be corrected an they just add more juice - not good and expensive.
The real problem was that the food came 45 minutes after ordering. We were told it was because the sushi kitchen was slow. There was no offer of compensation of food or with the bill and it really put a damper on the experience. A little something to eat while waiting so long would have made us happy. A little noodle please? The food once it finally came was delicious but the waiting was not handled well by management.
We ate during Huntington Restaurant week. We have been here many times and always had a great experience. Not so this time. Entrees came out 30 minutes apart (because not enough sushi chef). Then took another 5 minutes to flag down Mgr. as the waitress was nowhere to be seen. They offered to re-make my hot meal (I took them up on this) but then that took another 20 minutes. They comped us on one meal, which was gracious, but overall, the experience was dismal. Yes, I may go back, but this was not anything like prior experiences.
I love sushi but I do not get to have it as often as I would like. My husband doesn't do 'raw', so the fact that Ting offers both Chinese and Thai selections remedied that problem. We went with another couple and we all were impressed with both the service and the food. It was quiet enough that you could converse easily. And though fairly large it seemed intimate probably due to the soft lighting and arrangement of the tables. And the chairs themselves were exceptionally comfortable as they were well padded both on the back and the seat. We will certainly be back and often.....
went to TING for the first time, it has been recommended by friends. big place, nice decor, a bar when you walk in and a very accommodating sushi bar. we mentioned that it was our first time there (which they knew from our open table reservation) SO they put us in the back of the room in the corner at a table for 2...not my choice for a first timer.... as soon as we sat the waiter was there looking for our drink order..we hadn't opened the menu yet ...we just sat down...so we asked him to come back...that took some time.....when the drinks finally came "were we ready to order dinner" since we had time waiting for the drinks we were ready. we ordered appetizers.. my husband ordered ribs (fantastic) and wonton soup (also very good) and i ordered tempura (delicious). we were brought the ribs and tempora and not 3 minutes the soup came...we had to find the waiter to take it back and keep it warm till my husband was done...then another little wait which was fine and our entrees came, fried rice and sushi(also fantastic)..i asked for soy sauce...it took quite some time to come...told my husband to eat while it was hot...and i waited, and waited, finally the hostess came with another beer for my husband and i asked her for the sauce...it came ...it was low sodium...i like the salty version...and waited again...my husband is half way thru his dinner now....it finely came and the sushi was fantastic as i said...after we finished the waiter wanted to know if we wanted desert...of course... he came back for the order, i ordered redvelvet cake with ice cream (outragious) and then he took our menus and walked away never waiting for my husbands order...we had to call him back.......
the place is very nice, the food is perfect ...the service was not what we expected especially since it was our first time...will we give it another chance and perhaps sit with everyone else in the center of the restaurant where maybe we would be noticed and have a better waiter experience
