Tin Fish Ratings and Reviews
The service rendered by our waitress was less than desirable. The evening took a wrong turn after I asked to change an appetizer. It had been less than 3 minutes from the time she had walked away and upon notification she went to "check" to see if the order could be changed. She swiftly returned to inform me that the meal had already been prepared. I was clear about not wanting the meal and she proceeded to instruct staff to bring the dish to our table. The ambiance was fair but it was rather cold. Our main course dishes were fair...we both ordered the Mississippi Catfish. The cornmeal crusted fish wasn't well seasoned however we both enjoyed the mashed potatoes and spinach.
I'm willing to give the restaurant another chance but I do hope that the service is better.
Went here for Valentine's Day a yearly tradition. We had wonderful oysters on the half-shell, avocado salad and wonderful fish entrees. The only drawback was that although they are an an Open Table restaurant they would not accept my Open Table reward. Tacky.
Love this restaurant. It's our go to for a guaranteed wonderful evening out as a couple or with friends. Tin Fish never disappoints. The French Martinis are terrific and the Buffalo Shrimp can't be beat. The desserts change often and are uncommon and delicious. Our server, Ryan, is the best we have ever had anywhere. Some items are a little higher priced, but so worth it.
If you are looking for the freshest seafood, then Tin Fish is absolutely the only name that should come to mind. Fantastic wine list, incredible food and excellent professional high end service. We no longer cheat ourselves on a night out and have Tin Fish a must on our list.
Place was dark, was seated by the wall, where the wait staff was coming and going. Place needs to revamp , found it to be old and outdated. Found that the waiter wanted to push the daily specials that were not really that good. The oysters were good, but the chilian sea bass topping was too sweet and underneath was just a jumble of veggies. I noticed that the waiter was asking everyone how their meal was but never asked me. It was a nice treat for my b-day but I would not make it a repeat.
Consistently excellent appetizers and entrees. Fish is fresh and well-prepared, and chef uses creative touches for good presentations and tasty meals. Service is top-notch, and servers are well-informed about menu items, sourcing of fish and values of wines.
They always have great food. They need to work on getting there reservations fixed. My wife and I waited 30 minute for a table even though we had a reservation. Last month we arrived with reservations and had to wait 40 minutes for our table. There was no room in the bar area to sit or stand so we had to wait outside. It was 10 degrees that evening so we waited in our car.
There should never be that many people waiting for a table even though they had a reservation.
I grew up with good Seafood and I really appreciate good Seafood and they have some of the best I have ever eaten. If the managers of Tin Fish read there reviews I hope they work on getting this fixed.
Best fresh fish dining ever!!!! Love the garlic char Lake Superior whitefish!!!!!! Never disappointed with that fish and there's always an amazing side to enjoy with it!!! Great wait staff! Always friendly, knowledgeable, and professional!!! It's our go-to place for seafood!!!!
We were running late from the theater and I called to ask that our time be backed up and they were more than happy to move our reservation back.
Amanda was our server and she did an outstanding job.
The food was outstanding in presentation as well as taste.
We will be returning to Tin Fish in the future!
Have not been here in a couple years. I won’t let that happen again. Everything, and I mean everything was outstanding. Buffalo shrimp was the best I’ve had. Sea Bass had a sauce like you’ve never had. This place is one of the best. High quality seafood at a fair price. I don’t know how they could do anything better.
The meal was served out with good timing - we enjoyed eating a leaisurely paced meal & not feeling rushed. I had the Chilean Sea Bass which was cooked perfectly. I do like salt, but the sauce seemed to be over salted. Our waiter did an excellent job serving us.
Food quality is poor. I ordered the halibut, and it was dry and flavorless. My husband had the catfish jambalaya style. The sauce overpowered the fish. It was terribly over-sauced. Restaurants do this when the quality of the fish is questionable. It’s not necessary to put sauces like this or to serve the fish blackened when you serve high-quality fish. My brother-in-law’s scampi with pasta was good, as well as our wedge salad.
Tin Fish is still a gem that we save for special occasions. This occasion New Years Eve Dinner - understanding that New Years Eve is busy, we waited for 30 minutes past our reservation time for a table and I had a busser actually grab the salad plate off the table mid-bite. Next New Years Eve, space your reservations out more and don't literally grab plates that people are still eating off of to speed up your table turn.
