Tin Angel Ratings and Reviews
AS ALWAYS, the Tin Angel did not disappoint.
We have celebrated 5 of our 12 anniversaries since moving to Nashville at The Angel. Always consistent, creative with new dishes every time we’re in (but they’ve ALWAYS had the warm goat cheese salad since we started there and I love it every visit).
The latest visit was to celebrate a new job for my wife and it was a fun evening in a dim, comfortable atmosphere.
Never lets us down.
This "Nashville Original" is one of the best dining experiences for the money in Nashville. This restaurant has been a consistent "go to" for decades. The menu is not expansive but what they do they do really well. The food is always very good at a minimum-and often great! Why anyone would go to an overpriced "chain" restaurant and bypass this place is beyond me. I have dined here many, many times over the years and literally have never had a bad experience. I have been in the food and wine business before, and believe me I can and will be very critical if the situation merits it. I have been thanked many times for taking guests here for their first time. And they never fail to tell me they went back! Kudos to the owners-in a copycat world where many places appear as though they popped up out of a toaster-all the same- these folks do something different-and they do it extremely well!
The service is always spot-on, and the ambience is great. You can actually have a conversation without having to yell, or having the next table hear your every word. I love the seasonal specials they had on our visit. I had the bountiful harvest (?), which was a pasta with light cream sauce and lots of seasonal favorites..butternut squash, pumpkin seeds, cranberries, kale and cauliflower. So good!
My wife and I have been dining at the Tin Angel since we moved to Nashville 18 years ago. We have always found the service to be friendly and informed, the food to be reliably tasty and just adventurous enough to be interesting, and the milieu to be comfortable and stimulating at the same time -- a true bistro, American style. We are writing this review because in our last visit, the food was better than ever! I had the "fall bounty pasta" and my wife had the "red snapper." Both dishes contained a variety of ingredients and flavors perfectly blended.
We chose Tin Angel sight unseen and were extremely happy with our decision. We are from out of town and looking for a place relatively quiet with good food that wasn’t barbecue and used Open Table to find that restaurant. The food was fabulous, service excellent and atmosphere outstanding.
We had the Oct 10-12 prix fixe menu (lamb croûte, chicken tikka masala, mango tarte), as well as the cauliflower pizza and the veggie meatballs. Everything was absolutely spectacular. The lamb croûte (like a turnover) came with three sauces (masala, a yogurt sauce, and a fruit chutney) and was amazing. The chicken tikka masala was different from any I'd ever had, as it had strips of chicken in the sauce, but it was not as much sauce as you'd imagine. Instead, the dish was moist through the addition of veggies and rice to the chicken. Fantastic! The cauliflower pizza had chunks of butternut squash, coming together nicely with a soft cheese, arugula, and balsamic glaze. The veggie meatballs are always on the menu and though I'd been here many times, I hadn't yet tried them. It's worth it. They're made of mushroom and eggplant and their taste and consistency is perfect.
Julie was our server and she was great, very attentive and amiable.
Food had great flavor although our soup wasn’t very hot. Only thing preventing me from a 5 star review was the very very slow service. The place was dead and watched my server standing at the bar talking with the bartender when I was interested in a cocktail and when I was ready to order.
