Timpano Italian Chophouse - Tampa Ratings and Reviews
So, I had a reservation for a large party but it was a busy Saturday night and we all ended up waiting at the bar for about 45 minutes before we were finally seated. They informed us the table before us was running longer then expected so the hostess and managers had four complimentary (and absolutely delicious) appetizers brought to the table for us as we sat down. The waiter and food were awesome and the they were able to get our food out quickly as well. Despite the wait, the restaurant was classy, the drinks were great, the service was suburb and the food was delicious! Would definitely recommend!
Wonderful dinner for special occasion. Great menu with variety of choices from pasta to steak. Salmon was delicious with mustard sauce. Brussel spouts- YUM! Wine list offered a nice variety by the glass. The service was also very good. The ambience is festive and upbeat. We did have to ask the waiter to turn down the music so we could hear ourselves talk. Was done immediately! We were seated at a high top in the bar area which was fine - just a little loud!
Food: Took a very long time for the food to be served. We had the Yellow Fin Tuna with risotto, and the Sausage Broccoli Rabe.
The yellow fin tuna was unpleasantly cold in the center. Typically raw tuna is brought to room temperature so that it cooks evenly; and the risotto was bland and a bit crunchy.
The “sausage broccoli rabe” was over salty and served with asparagus rather than broccoli.
Service: Initially we were offered a booth table that seated 4-6 people, (we had reservations for a table for 2) and we requested the empty table for two that was very nearby. Hostess seemed flustered by this request but obliged and seated us there.
As a result of this, we believe we may have been assigned a server (Chris) too far outside of his area, (we were next to the window in view of Goody Goody and he was mostly serving around the bar area) and as a result we were not checked in on very often.
My wife and I have 4 children and date nights are very few and far between for us. We live in Wesley Chapel and had this night along with a going to the movies after dinner planned for quite some time. While the overall experience wasn’t completely terrible, it could have been a lot better considering the restaurant we chose with such high price points on the menu. Not worth the drive or the money.
It was ok. I think people wanting Italian pastas will not be disappointed. Their sauce is good. Halfway into our meal a group of very rowdy guys came in. I think some of the group had already been at the bar drinking. One was very loud and almost stumbled into our table and spilt his drink. The manager apologized and took the appetizers off our bill. Which would have been enough for me but they really didn’t seem like they minded these guys being there. They were high giving the staff and such so I think they knew them. So yeah we won’t be back if that’s the kind of clientele they have. I also got the Oso bucco and it was not as tender as it should be. Good but not great
We celebrated my birthday and everything from appetizers to dessert was great. There was a variety of entrees ordered amongst all of us (a party of 8) and everyone seemed to enjoy their choice from the scallop entree to the pasta dishes and some of us even had chicken and veal. Would definitely return.
Decent lunch. Live music. Decent food. We've had great meals here in the past. Currently it seems understaffed for its size... some empty tables but the staff were very busy with the customers that were there. Live music is a nice touch. Some of our favorites were on the menu but some were gone. We both had salads and it was good. Service wasn't the fastest but everyone was very nice. Would go again.
We have had lunch there many times. We are a family of 3. It always ended around $100 including tip with no wine...same this time except the food was very disappointing...it was a brunch menu...pasta was cold, and chicken was too hot, my wife salad had too much cream cheese, my daughter’s pancakes came with a disgusting frosting on the side...really bad...at any price, but a rip off for $100
We enjoyed the food and the service. The restaurant is lovely but the musician was just too loud. We had to shout in our booth just to hear each other. I wanted to turn the mic down! Next time I will request a table farther away from the live music or outside.
We went to the restaurant for my wife's birthday and it was very loud. I didn't know it was going to have such loud music. We also had a 915 reservation but they said because of Gasparella that they were closing the kitchen at 10 pm. We were not happy about that. The food was good. Rudy, the waiter, was great.
Great food; little bit of a wait even after a reservation and coming late. Was a Friday night (kind of noisy as well) and they seemed a little bit understaffed; the waiter came to us sparingly and it look a while for us to pay the bill/get it back. The live music was great. All in all great experience and would go again. Food was amazing I just wish the staff was a bit more frequent in their visits to our table.
The service was great and everyone was attentive, however, I was disappointed by which tables were “reserved”. High tops and all those between the bar and the band. Very noisy and cramped. I much prefer the other tables and booths. If I go again, I might take my chances and NOT make a reservation so that I get a better table.
As Timpano customers since the beginning, we love the place. We enjoyed some Blue Point Oysters and went on from there with a wonderful lunch, everything we ate was great. Our server, Rudy, was a great addition to our lunch, provided superior service, and added to the experience. We loved Timpano before the remodel and like it even better now.
Keep up the good work.
We came for a late meal after a show. As usual the food was great; service was great but at the end maintenance decided to change light bulbs near our table. It was very weird for sure. We complained and the man stopped but left his ladder. again very weird.
Not typical for this place which is one of our favorites.
most disappointing was the service. our waiter was rushed, and hardly let us get our orders out before he dashed off. we couldn't seem to hold his attention. then he brought the meals before we had finished our appetizers. we placed the reservation as a "birthday" celebration but we were not offered any way to celebrate this occasion.
