Timpano Italian Chophouse - Tampa Ratings and Reviews
Our reservation was for 7pm and we arrived a few minutes early and they were able to seat us in a very busy restaurant. The server was very good he answered questions about the menu that all four of us had. Our food arrived as ordered and we had a very enjoyable evening.
Went there for wife's birthday. Was there once before and it was really good. Kind of let down this time around. For main entre... I had chicken marsala, my wife had chicken picatta...neither tasted the way we had in mind. There were olives in both and that was unexpected....and unwanted. My marsala didn't appear to be cooked in any kind of marsala wine...and the picatta...no idea what that was trying to be. Definitely no yummy sounds coming from our table. We would have complained, but we had to get to a theatre for a show ... and just decided to let it be. Appetizer salad was good...though I asked for no tomatoes...and got tomatoes.
It was also very loud...the music was up way too high...made conversation difficult.
Pleasant server...he was polite and courteous.
Overall, disappointing...especially given it's Hyde Park cache. Definitely poor value for the money. Doubt we'll be back.
We always enjoy going to Timpano. First of all, it is within walking distance and it has great outdoor seating. The menu is varied, the food is good, and the wine list is very nice. One reason we continue to come back is the outstanding service we receive. Angela, the manager, always greets us and makes sure we are happy. On Friday night our server, David, was exceptional. In addition, they go out of their way to accommodate any special requests. For us, it's a favorite neighborhood place.
Service was sub par. The waiter definitely forgot about our table at one point and we only ordered an appetizer and a few flat breads! He also forgot about my sangria order (they were out of the Peroni, so I asked for Sangria). He had to be reminded. Mussels were good, pizza was nothing special for $13. I was also incorrectly charged. I got charged for the beer and the sangria, however the waiter then comped the sangria.... so that was nice. This place used to be amazing, but it's gone down hill.
We went to Timpano for Thanksgiving last year (2016) and it was incredible. A nice plate of food and a normal-sized dessert. The turkey was succulent, the sides were many and delicious. It was fantastic! So we decided to go back again this Thanksgiving. I couldn't have been more disappointed. The turkey was dry and pieces were inedible. The sides were skimpy in size and disappointing in flavor. The stuffing was dry and there was no more than a tablespoon. There was a similar sized serving of cranberry sauce and less than 10 green beans. No potatoes of any kind. For dessert, I had the apple tart. It was tiny, the size of a mini-cupcake. The crust had no flavor. The ice cream that came with it was good, cinnamon flavored, clever. But it was an extremely small portion as well. I should not pay $40 for a three-course Thanksgiving meal and leave hungry. If this had been the sort of meal I had received last year, we would not have gone back.
The first time we ate here for dinner, we loved it. We came here for Thanksgiving lunch and extremely disappointed. My daughter actually threw her food out. The rest of us hated our food, but didn’t want to waste it. Weird thing is we literally ordered same 3 items we loved the first time and tfey didn’t taste the same at all. It must be the daytime chef or something. It was awful. I spent $300 and hated it.
Loved celebrating my B-Day at Timpano's...food was excellent. Originally reserved for 8:30 and called to change my time and was assured 7:30 was fine only to get a call two days before the event to be told that only managers approve time changes and the only time they had to accommodate my party of 20 was 8:30pm. I was ultimately OK with this and I'm glad I waited. When we arrived, the table was nicely prepared and it was an amazing experience afterwards. Bar was a little loud so music was additionally loud as well to play over the crowd but not to loud that I wasn't able to engage with my guests. My waiter - Charles was amazing and very attentive. Would definitely return and recommend.
