Timpano Italian Chophouse - Ft. Lauderdale Ratings and Reviews
The mussels are the best I have ever had anywhere in the world! The portions are very, very generous. Jarod, our waiter pays attention to every detail and never forgets a face. Did I mention that the food is superb too! This place is a winner every single time.
Timpano has been one of most reliable go-to restaurants over the years, very old-school atmosphere; table cloths, professional servers and bartenders, warmly lighted, patrons somewhat dressed for the occasion and excellent Italian food. Highly recommend whatever is on the special menu for the night, you will not be disappointed. Extremely helpful and friendly bar staff and excellent service from the hostesses to the servers.
Haven't been to Timpano for a few years. The tables in the main dining room are a little on the small side for 4 men ,get a booth.
The veal dishes were very good , but presentation lacking. I had the sea scallops on polenta the three scallops were kinda of lost on the plate. I asked our waiter if one fell off the plate from the kitchen.
All & all meal was fine.
I was looking forward to eating here, and chose it for a business meal. This was my first time at Timpanos. The atmosphere is lovely but we couldn't have a conversation in the bar area because it was quite loud. We had a long business meal and selected wine, appetizers & entree. I was disappointed at the limited menu selection and no specials were offered. My veal piccata was a large portion - a little large for my appetite - and unfortunately it was drowned in sauce. Perhaps my expectation & food description did not align. There were also few vegetable sides to choose from. Wine was excellent and service was as well.
Steak was excellent, service very good and attentive, a very good special offer for first time visitors. Soup was creative and tasty. Pricing for sides was a little expensive, as was the wine. Better options in the city for variety and value, but if its steak you crave, that is quite good here.
We went to an early dinner this past Saturday after a show. I had a 6pm reservation and arrived 45 minutes early. Got seated with no issues. The service and food were amazing! The prices were fair given the quantity and the quality of the food. Our waiters and staff were fantastic and addressed all of our questions and needs promptly. Very friendly staff. We will definitely be coming back!
I visit Ft. Lauflderdale every other year to celebrate Mother's Day with a group of moms. Per usual, we made Timpanos the choice for our mother's day celebratory dinner. This year we were shocked to find that half the restaurant was empty. In the past, it was filled to capacity with a wait if you didn't have reservations.
We had 7:15 reservations and was promptly seated upon arrival. Our server Kyle, was efficient without being intrusive. Everyone enjoyed their meals for the most part whixh ranged from mussels, Caesar and wedge salads to start; and steaks, scallops, and several chicken dishes for dinner. The pear-fect martini was a tasty treat. We did not indulge in dessert. They are a little pricey (cheapest meal was $20) when you consider the costs for a salad ($12), steak plus extra for sides, and cocktails ($14). It's not outrageous but consider that it is prices like other steakhouse. I had a Caesar salad, chicken piccota (cheapest item), and one martini for $60 including tip.
Again, we had a good experience but will likely try another restaurant when we retuen in 2019.
I have been to this restaurant in the past and it was great. This experience was awful. Food was not as good as it had been in the past. We use to love their muscles but even those were too salty and not as good as they had once been. Also their entertainment was terrible. They had a singer at the bar that not only was not very good, but he had a young child (assume it was his child or grandchild) singing. The entertainment should not have mattered because we was sitting at a table on the other side of the restaurant - outside, but they had the music from the bar loudly playing on speakers outside in our area. It was terrible. Timpano is located in a fun hip area of Ft. Lauderdale, but sadly it no longer fits the vibe of the area. It feels more like a old fashioned steak house suited for a much older crowed that comes for the early bird special. There are so many fantastic places to eat within a block that far exceed Timpano within the same price range, I would recommend passing on Timpano.
