Timber Dining Room at Lied Lodge & Conference Center Ratings and Reviews
Wife and I did our usual New Year’s Day Brunch at the Lied Center in Nebraska City.
Our reservation was at 11:45, and the dining room was nearly empty.
I thought one of the meats was to be prime rib, but I was wrong.
We did the salad bar which was okay.
The main line had brunch items. I skipped the breakfast items and went for the bean, baby carrot and sliced pepper strip entrée, which was hot and good.
There was a container of quartered, browned potatoes, which I had some of, then to the carved sirloin.
The vegetables were good, but cutting the quartered potatoes was impossible with the table knife, and cutting the sirloin was equally difficult.
I think the quartered potatoes were leftovers from another meal, and the sirloin possibly left over from Thanksgiving.
The “cheesecake” turned out to be a rather tart lemon filling in a mini pie crust. The little chocolate cupcakes were really good, but the half Oreo cookie on top was rather soggy.
The chairs near the window looked comfortable, until you sat down, and I thought I was going to fall through. These chairs need to be replaced!
Two $18.00 meals cost me @$44.00 with all the taxes.
I just don’t think we’ll be going there again.
The food quality was poor. Over cooked tasteless mixed vegetables, the rice was tasteless with a mushy texture and no seasoning, the lamb had a beautiful presentation but was strong and of poor quality. The roast beef was good, but odd not to have a potato option with roast beef. Rolls were dry, chocolate cake was not worth the calories, dry and a grainy texture. Waffles were good, Salad bar was nice, the omelette was very good. All told, not a meal we would return for.
Went in for Sunday Brunch with Santa and very much enjoyed it. The food was excellent, service staff was excellent, and Santa was Excellent. My kids enjoyed it, as did we.
The carved whole roasted sirloin was pretty top notch. Looking forward to going back.
We invited family for Thanksgiving Buffet. We had previously had brunch months ago and were very satisfied, so we expected good food and nice atmosphere for Thanksgiving.
Waitress was ok. But food was a major disappointment.
Turkey and mashed potatoes Ok, but what is Thanksgiving without stuffing and Turkey gravy?
When we first started at buffet there was not any Au-Jus,for the beef , which we found to be hard to even cut. This should not have even been included it, it was that bad. No butter , we ordered from kitchen. At least dessert was acceptable.
A major black eye for Arbor from all of us an embarrassing disapointment for us after an hour drive and certainly will not look to any buffet in the future or recommendation.
In my opinion this was lackluster food at best; I would compare it to your standard hotel conference quality. Despite arriving right when the breakfast buffet started, I found most of the food was cold and dry. Good flavors and plenty of options however. The lodge itself is gorgeous and so was the view.
Excellent food and presentation. The dining hall is exactly that...it looks like a cafeteria dining area; however, the food could have been served at an upscale restaurant. I took pictures of my food because my plate looked so pretty. If you are looking for good food, it's great. If you are looking for romantic or upscale environment, maybe not this restaurant.
Service was excellent! We have eaten the breakfast buffet at the Timber Room many times and the food is quite good. There is a variety of choices. Nice setting and this time they did seat us by the window so had wonderful view. Will definitely go back to this place.
We live in Colorado and we're traveling to Indiana. Decided to take an alternate route to get off busy I-80. I had attended def a conference there many years ago and have wanted to share the experience with my husband. We were not disappointed We will be back
My husband always stop in for Sunday Brunch after going to the car show during the Apple Jack Festival. Timber Dining Room has a clean quiet environment and a beautiful view of grounds and Morton house. I've been trying to talk my husband into spending a Thanksgiving weekend at the lodge.
We dined here during the annual Applejack Festival. We recieved polite and friendly service upon arrival and we're seated right away. Food was excellent, especially the cold smoked salmon. The brunch menu provided an omlet station, waffle bar, salads, standard hot breakfast items, 3 hot lunch proteins including a carving station, hot potatoes & vegetables, and a nice dessert selection. The grand views from dining room and outdoor seating equally match the interior design and feel of this charming place. Its located in a great hotel on a beautiful property. This place is a must see when visiting Nebraska City.
