I dined with an old friend, and wanted a place for a special dinner, and Jackalope came through splendidly. The pear and butter lettuce salad was lovely, as was my duck breast, and it was so nice to have dinner in a quiet lovely spot, where I could actually have a conversation with my friend.
Usually really enjoy our evening at Jackelope. This was an off evening. Owners were away and things didn't flow quite as well . My husband's corned beef was subpar with almost all fat. My duck was tasty and our server was sweet but we had to wait a while for entree. We will go back though.
Best dinner I've had out in a very long time...at least since Oyster Fest at the same restaurant!
Very charming atmosphere. Although the restaurant was full that evening, service was great and the noise level was low. The rack of lamb was the best we have ever eaten.
Charming atmosphere and wonderful food with great presentation.
Really surprised by just how good this place was! It's a hidden gem with excellent food, great atmosphere and awesome service. Definitely my new favorite in Bend, I can't believe I didn't find it sooner.
Four of us enjoyed a belated Valentines dinner. Jackalope was recommended by a friend and we were impressed. Everything was wonderful especially our extremely attentive and professional waiter and extensive wine list. The food was fabulous! The only small disappointment was that the Osso Bucco needed some sauce but the snitzel was wonderful!
It was our fist time in Bend and according the reviews, we made reservation. Everything was delicious, we can feel the French inspiration . Great job. The only reason I didn’t put 5 stars is the dessert, I am a chocolate lover and definitively the pot de crème au chocolat was really under the level of the meal. Too sweet , coarse texture not really smooth as it should be . May be try the French chocolate valhona or even Cacao Barry . But I am talking only for me and I am French so ....
The duck was extraordinary. Yet the ahi tuna dish left me wanting something more. I am not a chef but I have had better ahi tuna dishes for much cheaper. Be a little more adventurous. Overall I will return there may be plenty more dishes I have yet to love.
They were short on wait staff so it took forever to get service. We were a party of 4 and only 2 of us liked our meals. The Salmon was under cooked and the calamari was just ok - not a big fan of panko. Too expensive for the service and the food. Probably will not go back.
Consistently fantastic Highly recommended
Specials are adventurous. Staff excellent
After a slow service start our dinner turned out very well. Both the menu choices and wine list are outstanding. Service could have been slow as a result of being a off-night (Monday) and only two wait people.
I love the Jackalope. The food is wonderful. My cioppino Monday evening was delicious from sauce to salmon. The atmosphere is so lovely. It’s clear the other guests are enjoying themselves, but we can enjoy our own conversation. And, every server I’ve ever had has been exceptional - attentive, but never intrusive, helpful, knowledgeable about all the wonderful dishes and willing to accommodate sharing and substitutions. For visiting with a friend, a romantic evening, taking Mom to dinner, or hungry for a delicious meal, you will be very happy you’re at Jackalope.
My husband and I have never been to Jackalope in the 22 years we have lived here in Bend.
We were told it was really expensive and the food selection was different.
We decided to try the happy hour for our first experience. We got the back corner so maybe
that is why we really liked it. The red wine was delicious for happy hour. The food selection (5 items ?) was a bit sparse but we did order the sweet potato fries & calamari. They were both delicious. My husband wanted more so he ordered off the menu and got some pasta/sausage dish that he said was one of the best tasting dishes he'd ever had....so again he was pleased.
I ordered the pear salad which was good but not really what I thought it would be but it was tasty.
Overall we loved our first experience and our waiter was great. (the bartender)
Second year in a row for this unique meal! Tim and crew did a fabulous job creating this all-oyster menu.
I love this place! The food was wonderful. I had the Salmon and my husband the Ahi and they were some of the best we ever had, perfectly cooked. Try the crab stuffed mushrooms appetizer and the grilled romaine salad.
Wasn’t impressed with filet, duck or ahi. Nice environment, service was good, but nothing special about the food, disappointing 😞
Another great meal. Lots of locally sourced food, solid wine list and excellent sophisticated setting
Excellent dining. Food and its presentation is beautiful.
Always a pleasure. So nice to continue to enjoy the Jackalope at the "new" location.
Our group of 5 felt the food was good but overpriced. We had appetizers and dessert plus wine so we spent a significant amount and felt the dessert was the best thing served. The ambiance is beautiful but not sure we will return anytime soon.
For a birthday this a fun place!
As always, the prep was exceptional.
Never even a so-so meal here. Just top notch.
Overall, food was good, dessert was so so, we ordered the apple tarts tartan , service friendly, great wine list, seated promptly. Great downtown Bend location, ambiance was nice and you can dress up if you’d like, which is s a nice treat for most of local dining.
Great dinner celebrating friends anniversary. Great service and food.
This was one of our best meals in Bend. The staff was very knowledgeable and gave helpful, spot-on advice. Great dining experience!
We are from Beaverton, OR staying at our 2nd home in Sunriver for New Years week. Went in to Bend for some walking, shopping and dinner. We were able to get a table for 4 on a very busy night in Bend. Our waitress Jamie, was very attentive and the menu was not your every day basic entrée . Menu allowed us to experiment with some local farmers who provide for this restaurant. Our experience was very positive, every one liked their entrée. We will return. The Morgan's
Always a favorite. I think based on previous meals they might be shorting the meal, especially the schnitzel (sp?) but plenty of meat. Was hoping for more of the potato and cabbage which is usually wonderful. Service was stellar as usual.
Jackalope Grill is the perfect venue for an intimate dinner. The restaurant is cozy and quiet, making it easy to have conversation.
The service was excellent. Our server was attentive and professional. The food was beautifully presented and was delicious. The burata on charred toast with prosciutto was creamy and terrific. The filet mignon was perfectly cooked to medium rare and was tender and juicy.
We will definitely be back!
We are recent transplants from Portland and used to getting creative delicious food out. Bend seems to be mostly pub, Mexican & Thai food. Jackalope grill was like being back in Portland. Great , somewhat more sophisticated food but not overpriced. Even on Christmas Eve the service was excellent....with a friendly, knowledgeable & efficient server. Highly recommend to get a great meal out.
Food is outstanding - all dishes, including appetizers, entrees and dessert, were delicious and beautifully plated (we all shared entrees). Jackalope Grill is so consistent for great food and service. Our server this evening was relatively new, so he had to find out answers to our questions and did not pay appropriate attention to our table. This was unusual for Jackalope, so hopefully his training will improve.
As always the dinner was amazing! Love this restaurant! The three of us had escargot, caesar salad, winter pear salad, lamb, salmon, pork chop, and tiramisu. Fabulous food. Our server whom we have had before was a delight. She is so personable, sweet, knowledgeable. We love dining at Jackalope. The BEST in Bend!
We have eaten here several times but I want to give a "shout out" for an extra special job well done. Kathy Garling made it possible to have me deliver some flowers for our table when the restaurant was still closed. I wanted to have them on our table when we arrived to surprise my wife for our 49th anniversary. Kathy went out of her way to make this happen. As always the food was wonderful with unique choices and always delicious. Our server this night was Cheyenne and she was great - gave us plenty of time and yet was there with special service when needed. This is a great place to have a special dinner at any time. Tim Garling, the chef and owner, always comes up with unique dishes that are never typical because he designs them by what is fresh and available so it is always a wonderful discovery to see what he comes up with each time we are there.
A wonderful evening shared with visiting family.
This is a must do dinner every time we are in Redmond/Bend. We have a fifth share at Eagle Crest and love good food. Wonderful atmosphere, quite enough you can talk. The food is wonderful and good wine list.
The escargot are divine - one of the best. I had the bone marrow this time and LOVED it.
Very sweet place, with tasty food and a good drinks menu. Dinner was delicious, and the service was good. It is quite expensive, maybe a little too much for what you get - but still a nice treat for a special occasion or date.
This was a very disappointing experience. I have been going to Jackalope for years and lately it seems as if Tim isn't paying attention. I have friends who have had similar experiences lately. The food was average and the service was HORRIBLE. I hope this isn't a trend.
I have lived in Bend for over 20 years, and for some reason I have never gone here. Finally I convinced everyone to go, and it was so worth it. Some of the best food that I have ever eaten in Bend. The portions are just right. The taste is outstanding. And most importantly, I felt good after eating. Not a regular occurrence at most restaurants we go to.
Arrived 6 pm, restaurant was not busy took 15 minutes for waitress to take our drink order. We placed our dinner order as well, received food 7pm. Ordered fillet minon Med. Well received med rare , ordered salmon received mushy and cold.
We didn’t have time to send back to the kitchen due to a 7:30 showing at Cascade Theatre.
Premium Pricing for substandard meal, waitress was very nice but inattentive.
My wife and I have eaten at Jackalope a few times over the past year and it has become one of our top picks in Bend. The food has been consistently good and the ambiance is the best in town if you want a quiet, unhurried, and welcoming dining experience. It’s not the place to go if you want to be seen, be part of a loud crowd, or are in a rush. Zydeco and 900 Wall are better choices to be part of the Bend scene. Jackalope wins if you want to focus on the people you are with over a long, good meal.
