Tillman's Roadhouse - Dallas Ratings and Reviews
Great experience all around at Tillmans!! Friendly bartender, great food and drinks, fun dessert (smores at the table). Only preference would have been for the place to be not QUITE as loud. But it was a Saturday night and the place was full, so it was not unexpected. A lot of concrete and hard surfaces that amplify the noise. Not really a complaint, just a preference. Would definitely go back!
Went with a group of friends had never been before. The food was relatively good and
our server was friendly and very accommodating and did a very good job assisting one of the people in our group with specific dietary needs. The unsettling thing about the evening was that the manager seemed to be treating our server very badly and we all (5 of us) took notice and
it made us very uncomfortable throughout dinner. Unfortunately I don't think I would recommend the establishment for 2 reasons 1) you just don't treat your staff in that way it is
inappropriate and 2) we spent a lot of money during at this establishment and the managers behavior with this employee really ruined what started out as a great night. There are to many other great places in this area I would take a pass on Tillman's.
We had a reservation but had to take the table literally right next to the front entry door (not ideal). It took quite a while for a server to come over, one smiled at us twice but didn't actually come over to greet our table. Water glasses were tiny and ran out quickly so we had to wait until someone noticed that we needed refills. The restaurant is just one big open room, and since the building is old, sound really carries so it's fairly noisy. We went for restaurant week and the food wasn't bad but it wasn't very impressive either. Also I noticed that everything was lukewarm, even my soup which I would have expected to be hot. I would have preferred my food to be hotter.
Excellent comfort food. Very attentive staff works well together. We had chicken-fried steak that was so tender you could have eaten it with a folk. We also had the smoked pork loin, that was softly pink in the middle with a delectable mix of smoke and sweet hunter’s sauce. The décor has that roadhouse look, but everything is in new condition and very clean. This place is worth a second trip.
Gavin Watson is not associated with this account so not sure why his name is here. I had made the reservation but when we arrived they couldn't find my reservation under Cyndi Bishop. They had a table and we were able to eat there like we had hoped. It wasn't until today that I saw this other person's name in all my emails.
This isn't the first time we've eaten at Tillman's and would recommend it!
We received excellent service from our waitress and the food was tasty. We arrived at the restaurant on the early side & it wasn't too busy yet - during that time we could hold a conversation & visit. As the restaurant filled with people the noise level became unbearable. My friend & I were screaming across the table from one another. We went outside to sit on their front patio and continue our conversation. Once we moved to the outside area absolutely nobody came out there to check on us. I had to go in and buy drinks & carry them outside myself. We could have used a glass of water or later a second drink but it appeared that no waitstaff were assigned to the outdoor area at all. So here is my mixed review: great service inside and good food. No acoustics so be ready for a loud dining experience if it's busy. Don't sit outside or you will be abandoned.
Our food and drinks were tasty, but the waitstaff was offbeat. Clearing drinks that weren't finished, taking 15 minutes to pour wine only to tell us they were out of the wine we chose and that the other rose was even better (at $4 more a glass it should've been). Wine finally arrived with sediment in the glass. Waitress was hovering at inappropriate times and then nowhere to be found when we were ready to order various things. All in all, I would go back but I'd sit at the bar 😉
Food was wonderful. Everyone at our table ordered the thing everyone else can't wait to order the next time they are at Tillman's. My entree was great .. but next time I am ordering what my wife had on this occasion .. and visa versa. In other words .. everything on the menu is fantastic!
Waiter was new and did not know menu. My feedback would be to implement a training handbook and have daily/weekly tests before releasing waiter alone on the floor. Or have a shadowing process in place.
Not happy with having to wait over 5 minutes multiple times just to have basic menu questions answered.
Jasmine was a great server!
The pecan crusted okra was amazing! The chicken fried steak was exceptional! And the cheese grits were out of this world! But the real reason we went was for the S'mores for dessert. And they did not disappoint. The marshmallows were made in house and were so good! And the graham crackers were definitely unique and yummy!
Got the homemade S'mores, they were good. The next time I travel to Dallas, I wouldn't say that it would be on the list to go again. Horrible parking, just so happened we were looking for a spot as someone was backing out. We saw our waiter twice he took our order and brought it out, he was more interested in prepping tables at 9:30 at night than waiting on his tables.
The restaurant was very loud. My husband and daughter both ordered the quail. The sauce didn't compliment the quail well. It was okay, but nothing to write home about. I had the stuffed poblano and it was very good! My husband and I shared the chocolate bread pudding. It was okay, but again nothing special. The table side s'mores my daughter ordered were good and very unique.
