Tillman's Roadhouse - Dallas Ratings and Reviews
Had the Oak Post Pork Ribs, they were cooked to perfection, they were a bit spicy, I believe there was quite a bit of cracked pepper on them, that however wasn't a bad thing especially when combined with the sauce that is given with them, the combo of that really works. The Mac and Cheese w/ Bacon was very flavorful, It needs more bacon and definitely more Cheese, it could also use some kind of a crust on top, but that is not a deal breaker by any means.
I also had the S'mores. They are definitely the reason for going to Tillman's. Maples, Orange, and Coffee Marshmallows with Cinnamon Graham Crackers and Chocolate, all of it made in house. Delicious.
The wife had the chicken fried steak, she is ruined for any other restaurant.
Had a great time, our party had the pork chops, the ribs, and the country fried steak. The CFS was wonderful! Homemade and deep fried but not like some old hard piece of meat, seem to be made fresh and just melted in your mouth. That could of used a bit more seasoining but just my take. The CFS was the weakest of the 3 dishes, the ribs had a smokey char to them, they were alreay spilt and stacked on the plate like a tower (half slab?) just enough meat great tasting. The pork chop was cooked perfect and wonder flavor to them not oversized thick and is worthy of any high end top restaurant. Next time in Dallas area we would return.
In the 20 years we have been coming to Dallas for OU/TX this is the best food we have ever had. We are foodies and we have been to some outstanding places in Dallas. Tillman's Roadhouse is fun, festive and cool in ambience and atmosphere. There were ten of us and every single person raved about their meal. My halibut was amazing and I had fresh fish in West Palm Beach a week ago - not as well prepared as this. Our group loved the chicken fried steak and the bone-in ribeye was wonderful. Do not miss the smores! We had a great time and totally loved the whole experience. We loved it.
The staff is excellent and the food is top notch! The chicken in particular was incredibly moist and all of the sides were excellent! It was great for a group of eight. Service was outstanding and prompt. Great atmosphere and good place to have a couple drinks with dinner. Cannot wait to go back!!
This was my first visit and I was not dissapointed! My table had the cornbread as an appertizer and the only thing that was wrong is that we wanted more! I had the salmon as my main entree and it was fantastic - cooked perfectly and the peas, tomatoes, and gourmet lettuce paired wonderfully with the fish. My friends had the rib-eye and were very pleased. We had the chocolate/peanut cookie desert. All and all, just a wonderful dinner.
This restaurant was wonderful. The food was great and the service very good. The only negative was that I had stated when making my reservation that we were celebrating my husband's birthday. No mention was ever made of this occasion. However, the table next to us was also celebrating a birthday and they received a dessert with candles and a song. Despite the business of the restaurant, we still received good service although somewhat delayed at times. But that is understandable since there was not an open table all evening that I saw. Overall we really enjoyed ourselves and can't wait to come back!
Four of us drove up from Houston for a jazz concert and were not familiar with the restaurants. Tillman's got good reviews, so we made reservations. Everything was scrumptious. The quesadilla appetizer was yummy. The salmon is still making me salivate thinking about it. The ribs were melt in your mouth delicious. Even the glass of Malbec was perfect. The only negative was the noise. By the end of dinner we could barely hear ourselves complementing the food.
Tillman's is a real gem! Was introduced to this place by locals when I first moved here, and it's remained a staple for me to take visiting friends and family. Everything on the menu is delicious (my favorite is the country-fried steak.. real steak!). The truffled popcorn they serve at the table is like CRACK; so addictive. The trio fries appetizer is great for groups (with the homemade ketchup.. wow!!). Don't forget to experience the s'mores for dessert (an unforgettable delight). Fantastic!
Great standards cooked and combined in unique ways. All food us most excellent. Fun atmosphere. Coffee-infused grits with cheese! Venison frito pie! Foodie quality but everyday eaters are very happy too! Homemade marshmallows in three flavors with your own hot pot for som'ores table side? Brilliant!
Can I give this place 6 stars? What a find! From start to finish, I was blown away with the service, food, and ambiance.
We started with the fried sweet pickles and drinks. We probably didn't need the appetizer since they bring you a cup of garlicky butter popcorn to snack on. Nevertheless, I am a fried pickle enthusiast and these did not disappoint. For the main course, the hubs inhaled the ribeye and I devoured the pork ribs like a carnivore. Flavors...unbelievably good...service...superb. Price...well, you gotta pay to play, right? To top off the night, we ordered the cookie tower, even though they are known for their s'mores, and we were oohing and awe ing all the way home!
Go to Tillman's as soon as you can!
After eating at Tillman's Road House on other special occasions, we were a bit disappointed on this visit. The quality of the cuts of meats was several steps down, over previous visits. The rib eye steak yielded more fat than steak on Saturday night (yes, I realize it is a fatty cut, but no 50%+) & the ribs weren't very meaty & thus dry. It almost seems the bean counters got involved in the meat selection process. I have to say I will not be back soon...
Had the chicken fried steak, salad and banana bread pudding from the Restaurant Week menu. All was delicious. The chicken fried steak is actually STEAK, not ground or pounded! It was a bit more pink than I prefer, but it was delicious. Served with yummy potatoes and green beans.
This was my second trip to Tillman's and I was not disappointed. Everything was excellent, from the decor (middle-brow chic, super fun!) to the cocktails (try the blood orange margarita, yummy!) I would recommend Tillman's for a fun date or get together with friends (it's pretty loud in there, so definitely a no if you're looking for a romantic evening or business meeting.) Our server was very attentive, but not intrusive: our waters were always filled, our cocktails arrived quickly, and he offered to split our appetizer on to two plates to make it more manageable.
Overall, a perfect, fun dinner for my husband's birthday!
Our reservations were for 5:30pm when the restaurant reopened for the evening. We were seated on time, we were waited on promptly and really enjoyed our meal and the atmosphere. 3 of our party dined on the restaurant week menu and it was really good and nice portions. We were alittle disappointed in the S'mores for dessert because they were so good, we could have eaten alot more. That is not a negative towards the restaurant, just how delicious they were
Ate at the Tillman's Roadhouse during our recent trip to Dallas, after seeing a show about it on the food network. We had the trio fries, which were good, slightly greasy though. We also had the venison chili frito pie (good) sand a burger, also good. We decided on dessert of s'mores since that's what we had seen on food network, they were very good-definitely worth the trip. Overall very good.
On this our second visit to Tillman's Roadhouse, my wife and I both had chicken fried steak expecting an upscale version of an old Texas standard. Instead of a pounded out flat, breaded cutlet of mystery meat smothered in heavy, stiff gravy, we each were presented with two very thick and juicy beef tenderloins lightly battered sitting in a pool of perfectly seasoned brown gravy. It was excellant. It was accompanied by the standard mashed potatoes and green beans, but again they were deliciously prepared with bits of bacon and other garnishments. Our salads, deserts, mixed drinks, and wine course were all above par, although the drinks were a little over priced. The atmosphere is warm and inviting; the service was gracious.
