Tillman's Roadhouse - Dallas
Best chicken fried steak in town!
My wife and I hosted our daughter, son in law and infant grandson for supper. Edgar was our server and was excellent. The food was great. Only negative was they were out of lobster corn dogs and beer can Dr Pepper chicken. Both of which we intended to order. However our entries were great. I recommend this establishment.
Pork belly was amazing. Don’t skip the biscuits, fluffy, crunchy and perfect with the butter and jam. The beer can chicken wasn’t overly flavored, just a sprinkle of salt on the potatoes really brought the flavors together and The BOB for desert, was chocolatey, decadent and delicious. Wonderful meal complete with manager check-ins for quality and chats about craft beers. Wonderfully relaxing experience. Kind of missed the popcorn that they used to serve before apps, but never disappointed with a visit here.
We had a mixed experience with our meals. The beef filet was OK while the stroganoff was excellent.
Service was stellar as always. The food was very good, but not as excellent as we’ve experienced in past visits.
The ambiance was ok and food was average for the price. The service was a 4/10, and they don’t let you know that the bar closes early so you assume you have time to order your next cocktail.
Everything was great! We were disappointed that they had ran out of the Lobster tails 🙁. Other than that, perfect evening!
Food and atmosphere was great! However the waiter tried adding a 30 “gratuity” tip and wasn’t going to say anything until my husband and I asked about it. His service was good, but not that good!
Great food, great service. I wasn't sure at first but i am glad i went
We booked our reservation for Valentine's Day on Open Table. When we arrived, they told me I did not have a reservation.I showed the hostess our confirmation email, she got the manager. We were eventually seated.
The service was terribly slow, our waitress was not very attentive. We agreed the food was pretty good.
Maybe it was due to the crush at dinner for Valentine's day, but the waitstaff was initially very, very unattentive. We were seated for at least 10 minutes before a person from the waitstaff appeared and took drink orders. Then the drinks took some time to appear. And so on. The promised amuse bouche didn't arrive until after the appetizers. If you know you are having a huge holiday crowd, shouldn't you increase your waitstaff to handle it?
It had been a while since I was last at Tillman’s, so we went for Valentine’s. It was a nice experience, although the valentine’s reservationists expecting the prix fixe menu were placed in the back peacock room (which has no windows, mind). Not a huge problem for the evening time and it was quieter than the overall restaurant as a whole. The food, while very tasty, had some room for elevation. My 8 oz filet was technically a rib eye, and the steamed lobster tail was slightly overdone, but everything was seasoned well and the veggies were tender and delicious. Wine and beer choices were limited but purposefully it seemed so that each glass tasted fresh and not like the bottle had been opened forever. Each server was quite friendly and very attentive as well. Standout dishes included the desert s’mores and the amuse bouche, that evening being a tuna tartare mini taco served over a lemon or lime wedge.
It was good, but nowhere on the website did it show that it would be a limited price fix menu for Valentine’s Day. Had I known that I would have gone another night.
We had a great visit this week to Tillman’s!
I always want to treat my Sister from Houston to a different restaurant here in Dallas each time she's here. Tillman's Roadhouse did not disappoint. The service was outstanding; the popcorn with truffle oil was such a pleasant surprise! All the food was super! I enjoyed the Seared Scallops with a side of the Homestyle Grits; my Sister ordered the crab cake appetizer as her entre' and was thrilled that is was such a nice serving size: three crab cakes each on top of a fried green tomato, topped with slaw. She said that sauce was a bit tart but enjoyed the dish. It was a great "experience" and we'll definitely be back. Thank you!
Everything was wonderful! My boyfriend and I were visiting friends and stopped here to eat. We had the Elote dip which was so delicious that we wanted to order more. For entrees we had the Beer Can Chicken and the Ribeye Stroganoff. We both cleaned our plates (needless to say both were amazing). For the perfect end, we had the Peach Pound Cake. It was perfect and wasn’t too sweet. Overall an awesome experience. Would definitely recommend.
While I have been here several times, it mostly has been during the day after the lunch rush. This time we were here from about 8:00-9:30 and it was deafening. I had to speak very loudly to be hear and my throat was very sore upon leaving. The food was good as usual. My friend really like the shrimp and grits that came with fried green tomatoes. I had the chicken-fried steak and it was a bit tougher than expected. This is a fun place to visit, and the food/bar is always good.
Food was a bit pricy for how good it actually was.
But great atmosphere and great service!
Our first stop on our trip to Dallas was Tillman’s and we were blown away. Our server Emily was very kind and attentive, and the food was amazing! We started with the Okra, I had the filet and my wife has the salmon and we split some macaroni & cheese. Everything was cooked to perfection. You definitely can’t leave here without trying the s’mores, the presentation alone is worth it, house-made chocolate and marshmallows and graham crackers all dusted with powdered sugar with skewers and a little fire to make a sweet night complete.
So disappointing.... After eating at Tillmans many times throughout the years and now returning after the owner has sold it to another entity.... its not the same. The ambience has changed, the service was terribly slow, the food even slower and the quality is not there anymore. I was sad to see the changes as Tillmans used to be a solid choice in the Bishop Arts district.... There are plenty more places to spend your time and money in Dallas.
Had a horrible experience at this restaurant. Gave our table away, gave our food away, Hostess was confused (didn’t know table numbers), Mgr was dismissive and kept going missing when there was a problem. They made major mistakes and didn’t own up to them, when brought to their attention, Ross still never rectified the problem. We plan to never go here again.
Atmosphere was great!! Manager was polite. Food was delicious. Will definitely be back!!
Food and service has always been outstanding!!!! 5stars!!!
Everything we ate was AMAZING. SErvice was alright. We had a big group of 13 - so maybe that’s why.
I have loved Tillman’s for years! I haven’t been in a couple of years for dinner and was sorely disappointed this time! The food was not on par to many of the other visits I have ever had here! Even the tableside Smore’s were not nearly as delectable. Everything seems to have gone down. Something has changed with the quality of food. I don’t know if they changed chefs or what happened. They also got rid of my favorite drink, the Sassy Sara. Just overall a very disappointing experience. Unfortunately I will not be returning.
Great place remodel is very nice. Noise level hard to heard in main dinning area
Always wonderful food, great ambiance, and friendly, efficient wait staff.
Food was bland, service wasn’t great!
This was my second time to eat here and it was not as good as the first. The food was subpar for 4 out of our 5 entrees. I had the fish special (redfish) and it was so fishy and dry. The beer can chicken was a hit and so were the crab cakes but the soup of the day came out room temp. Just was a miss that night.
I love Tillman's, and I try to make it back a couple of times a year. The s'mores desert is my favorite! In addition, the 30 Days of January menu was fantastic. They also offer popcorn as a small treat prior to appetizers, but we didn't end up getting any this time (maybe it isn't served with the 30 Days of January or maybe you have to ask for it now). They have an interesting array of sodas (such as pineapple cream, hibiscus orange, etc.). My boyfriend also enjoyed his Mexican Mule, although the drink had entirely too much ice. The waiter was excellent at recommending entres, and we both really enjoyed our meals. I got the short rib and my boyfriend got the chicken fried steak (our favorite meal which we get every time we go). Great meal and a great time!
We went for my wife’s 65th birthday. The food and service was exceptional.
We enjoyed our early Saturday dinner. The restaurant was not very busy. Thus, we enjoyed choice seating and great service. We ordered salmon, short ribs, a hamburger and the homemade marshmallows for dessert. The food was great! The wine list was limited. But, I enjoyed the Cab by the glass.
The food was fantastic. We were a party of 4 for a night out in the Bishop Arts district and glad we chose Tillman's. We started out with cocktails - Cucumber Gimlet was really good and my group had margaritas which they said were great. Shared crabcakes and gourmet tater tots for appetizers - delish. We all agreed that our entrees were superb - sea scallops with risoto and spicy chicken fried steak. There was a good crowd there but the noice level was just right. Highly recommend Tillman's. We will be back soon!
Our New Year's Eve meal was probably our best meal ever at Tillman's.
Food was very good but the portion size was very small for the money.
The food was great. The only surprise was that it was price fixe menu - which was not stated when I made reservations or on the website.
We dined on NYE so they had a special menu. The fried lobster/bisque shooter was perfect. Appetizers were very good. My wife had the pork chop which was excellent. I had read reviews of the chicken fried steak with poblano gravy so I ordered it, I was very disappointed. Lemon pie was really good. Drinks are too expensive, $9 for a Bacardi and coke. Service was excellent.
Tillman’s used to be delicious and a destination must-visit restaurant. The quality in the food is terrible and pales in comparison to it’s old menu. Very disappointed!
Anniversary with reservations. Seated next to kitchen??? Questioned and told they had to even out the tables. Multiple other tables open. Argh
Our server, Emily, was fantastic!!!
