Tigelleria Organic Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
We are never disappointed in the food and Francesco, who waited on us, was truly great at everything he said and did for us. You can't go wrong with any of the charcuterie plates; the wine selection is not extensive but includes some great finds. Something as simple on the menu- like Nona's lasagna- was the best I've ever had. I highly recommend this neighborhood gem!
We love this restaurant. It's one that we choose to go to when we're wanting someone a little more special. The octopus & carpaccio appetizers, the gnocchi, ...& anything else on the menu is just heaven! So delicious. Great wine selection too. Get a reservation. :)
This was my 2nd visit in the last 2 years and both occasions the food was excellent! This time we were on a double date and had a nice corner table to convene that offered us a prime location to easily hear our conversations. The server made recommendations based on my preferences and hit a home run. The cocktails were flavorful~ fresh blackberry margarita; the lamb chops; the risotto with scallops, homemade lasagna and gnocchi were all superb! Desserts to die for too!
The quality of the food is organic, locally grown and flavorful. I highly recommend you try Tigelleria.
This was our first time here and our dinner was great. The food was very good. There are not too many good Italian restaurants around here, but this is definitely one! The food was fresh and very well prepared. The decor is quite dated (especially in the side room), and could use some updating. But again, the food made up for it!
All the dish we tried were awesome except for the argula salad with mushroom and truffle oil where the mushroom although fresh, tasted a bit muddy. The octopus cappacio was wonderfully balance and had amazing texture. Zucchini spaghetti with shrimp was refreshing and cooked to perfection. I can't wait to go back and try other dishes. Cost is a bit higher for the decor but food itself is worth it.
The little guy with the tattoos and earrings was very annoyed about our drink orders. We did not order anything special but did not want the "house" brands. The service overall was poor but the waitress suddenly got very friendly when it came time to pay the bill. Our total cost for a dinner for 4 people was over $300, I would expect much better service. Food was average.
I ate at this restaurant one other time with the same friends and liked it.
However the service was a turn-off this time. Two of us had to beg for a glass of wine while we awaited the other three diners and then had to endure a sales pitch aiming us to buy a pricy bottle of wine. A non-drinker had to ask for a soda and then again for a refill which didn't arrive until the end of the meal. Also, the wait person removed the water container and we had to both ask for more water and the final check. With each request I had to go find someone. Not very relaxing. I hope this feedback will be helpful to the owner because the place has a lot going for it otherwise.
With some really good restaurants now in Campbell, Tigelleria seems to not be keeping up. We had four items - the carpaccio di filetto as an appetizer, chitarre con chianti di pane for a primi, involtino di pollo for secondi, and meringata for dessert. Of the four, only the involtino di pollo stood out as being a very good dish - and if I do return it will be for that item alone. Very tasty and well presented. The carpaccio was a decent appetizer and the dessert was light but forgettable. The pasta was easily the worst dish of the evening - overcooked and mushy, both the noodles and the vegetables - which is surprising for an Italian restaurant.
Service was uneven, switching between attentive and forgotten.
Summary - there are other very good options nearby. This place doesn't stand out enough to command the price.
We had heard many great things about this restaurant and were quite disappointed. We ordered the Burrata appetizer which arrived ice cold, including the hard cold tomatoes, and was quite flavorless. The Kale salad I enjoyed but my friends felt the leaves were difficult to eat- too hard. We had the special pasta, described as having a white wine sauce with tomatoes and arugula, and actually was a heavy marinara style sauce with some arugula ribbons tossed on top. My friends had the scallops with risotto- for $38 the scallops were small and scarce and the risotto was more like a rice pilaf. Again, sounded great on the menu, but not as described. My other friend had the polenta with fava beans, which we all agreed was gluey, too thick, dry and lacking flavor, and she could not eat it. We ordered a second bottle of wine to go with our meal and it took so long to arrive that our food was cold. (The waitress did pour me a glass of wine on the house). It was a birthday and we told the hostess (and it was in our reservation) and we did not receive any offer of birthday dessert. In all, we were disappointed in the meal, which was a splurge for us price-wise, and would not recommend this restaurant.
Tigelleria is a really nice spot tucked into the corner on Campbell ave. just east of the split. There is a small lot behind the building. Our waiter was attentive, but not lingering. The menu has a lot of variety, from Mamas lasagna to chateaubriand, which was terrific. Also dined on the sea bass cooked in a pastry crust to hold in all the juices and flavors, tender and perfectly cooked. The décor is unique, from the fresco in a ceiling alcove, to an old movie playing on the wall by the full bar (sounds dumb, but looks really cool!) We had gelato for desert, getting our 3 flavor choices in one delicious bowl. As it was a warm night, it was a bit warm inside, wish there was more A/C. Oh, and the black Kale salad was really delicious! Going back soon...
Came here on Father's Day. The place was not packed but they had some tables filled. Service has been better here, my food was over salted and over cooked but others' were good, during a heat wave their A/C wasn't working well which made us quite miserable while trying to eat and drink. Our waitor seemed to have a bad attitude and didn't really tend to us. We had to chase people down to get service for water. It seemed like they were understaffed which is unfortunate. This place is good but inconsistent. It's unfortunate this time was not a great experience for us. If I had to recommend just based on this experience I wouldn't. Good thing I've been here before when it was fully staffed and good.
I really like this place and I've dined here several times. The service this last time was spotty - having to make the same requests multiple times is annoying. Also, it wasn't explained to us, but the AC was off and it was literally like 95 degrees outside. That got a little old real fast.
My husband and I have been here several times and always have left with a positive impression. This time, we were a bit disappointed with a couple of issues. First of all, they now offer a gluten free cracker option when bringing the bread and dips to the table. This was great because my husband must eat gluten free. The issue was that the "cracker" was nothing more than a store bought popcorn cake- very much like a styrofoam disc. It seemed very under par for what we've experienced here before. The second issue was my zucchini pasta. While nice tasting, the dish was pretty much a couple of shrimp over spiralized zucchini for around $25. Really??? The price for what I got was obnoxious, and I would never order it again. They were also out of my first two wine choices. The best dish of the night was the octopus appetizer. Not sure if we will give this restaurant another chance. I think we would because all of our other experiences have been lovely, but I would hope for better next time.
We eat here occasionally and have enjoyed it. The food seemed less appetizing than other times we ate there. This may have been the fact that the restaurant HVAC could not handle the hot evening. The Interior temperature had to be close to 90 degrees. The intolerable heat ruined what should have been an enjoyable dining experience.
Very disappointing. Restaurant advertises organic and healthy, so took a friend from out of town to try it out. Nothing was working from the start; slow service (fewer than 10 people in the restaurant) wrong food order/out of advertised specials, bread was stale. No ground pepper offered for the salads- nor Parmesan for the pasta dishes. Had to ask for help to get a fork as our server was eating at the bar. Incredibly overpriced for bad service and small, mediocre portions.
What a treat! Very few Italian restaurants in the Bay area (my opinion from living on the East coast for 30 years...), this was comfortable, cozy place with delicious Italian dishes. We split a salad, a pasta dish and then a plate of lamb chops followed by desert.
I have eaten at this restaurant several times over the last few years and have seen the quality and the flavor of the dishes improve dramatically. All the selections that I tried were elevated to a new level of composition. I would recommend this restaurant to all who love Italian food, especially those who favor organic ingredients.
I went there for Mothers Day and we were excited. Our server seemed fine at first but then we didn't have a lot of contact with her. I asked for the eggless bread- never came. Our food arrived and two people in our party ordered the pasta with salmon. The noodles were not just aldente but some were actually crunchy. I ordered medium rare lamb chops and they came to the table well done. The server took them back and arrived with a new plate. The chops were raw and one was medium. We all agreed that the food was under salted and lacked flavor. Although we were comped for my dish, we won't go back. So disappointing for my 81 yr old mom😞
I was looking forward to a great dinner. Boy was I disappointed. Servicer was not with it. said she was going to bring a steak knife and never checked the table again. The mashed potatoes were cold so I had to get up to find some one to heat it up. It came back looking like trash with an attitude. No apologies just an attitude. Dessert was said to be light it was like a rock. I won't be back.
Really great! Been wanting to go here for awhile, but always ended up somewhere else. Staff is fantastic. Food is fresh and local. Our group had the charcuterie appetizer which was really good sized and cover all the bases. The Ngocci, Lamb and Steak were all cooked perfectly and great. Definitely recommend this place.
Very disappointed by the slow service. The food was ok. The bruchetta took forever to arrive and was ultra small. Two tiny slices cut in half. What's worse, other people were getting their food before us, even though they arrived after us. Won't be going back.
Overall pleasant experience. I ordered the wrong dish for my liking. I ordered the polenta because I love polenta and did not consider that I am not that keen on bell pepper and the sauce was bell pepper dominant which menu did state.... so my own fault. The polenta was good.
My son was pleased with everything he ordered. The octopus appetizer and kale salad were great! Minestrone good also. I am considering two items to order next time. Yes there will be a next time! They treated me nicely with a candle for my birthday!! : ) GREAT pistachio creme brûlée!!!
