Tigelleria Organic Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Expensive for the value, 26.00 for a plate of pasta. The drinks were 15-17.00 dollars, and the drink I ordered was not supposed to have soda water in it but they ran out of an ingredient and did not say. To be fair they took it back but I don't like having to send something back. Overall too expensive for what was offered.
The reason why our most recent dinner at Tigelleria was so disappointing was that we were very excited to take some overseas visitors there to taste some great Italian food after two wonderful meals we had at this restaurant last year. So expectations were quite high, and frankly, every dish was a disaster. The wait staff were as wonderful as we remembered, so we didn’t make a fuss, but we were literally embarrassed after bragging about how good this food would be. Maybe it was an off night.
Very disappointing. We used to come here pretty regularly but the quality, service, and pricing have all gone down. We started with the croquettes and the charcuterie plate. The croquettes came out cold, the charcuterie was fatty and stringy, and the tigelles that used to be light and fluffy are now dense and heavy... $30+ for a small plate of pasta. We had to ask for the bill as the server's seemed to disappear periodically, and when the bill finally came out they "accidentally" charged us for 3 bottles of wine when we only had 2.
I had forgotten about this lovely restaurant. Really enjoyed my cannelloni. They took my bread away while I wasn't looking, so hold on to your small plate! It's a bit of a splurge with two glasses of Prosecco and only a main course and yet made it more of a special occasion for me and my friend.
We thought the food was fabulous and would go back again for that reason. The flavors were all standout, this is not anywhere near average Italian, this is high quality Italian, authentic but also unique. The restaurant is nicely decorated, however, it falls short in ambience because of a combination of inattentive/ lacking service and somewhat loud, overbearing 80s music playing on the speakers. There was only one person servicing the front of the house, perhaps he is the [tired] owner? He acted as host, waiter and bartender. He wasn't frazzled, rather calm and somewhat indifferent. Indifferent to patrons entering the restaurant, indifferent to taking drink and food orders - although he did engage when we asked for a recommendation. All of this wouldn't really have mattered if it hadn't taken ONE full hour before or appetizers arrived! The host/waiter/ bartender was apologetic when we brought this to his attention, and it seemed as if he woke up a bit. He brought us a drink on the house, and immediately our appetizers arrived. Five minutes later our entrees arrived while we were just starting our appetizers. What saved the day was the delicious food. We started with the carpaccio di tonno. The yellowfin tuna was paper thin and the combination with the fried capers, caperberries and well seasoned cherry tomatoes was delicious. We equally enjoyed the spinach and pesto salad, which balanced the salty carpaccio appetizer. The salad portion was large enough for us to easily get our fill. Both entrees, pappardelle con salmone and lasagna della nonna were made with house made pasta, which is what made them standout. I was skeptical of the cherry tomatoes on the pappardelle, but they turned out to be very tasty. We finished the evening sharing a frozen meringue that had the most delicious morello cherries and sauce. All on all, we would go back, especially to try more appetizers.
I don't really care if a restaurant is 'organic' or not. I can't ell the difference, and frankly, I don't think my body can either. My enthusiasm for Tigelleria is based solely on the excellent, creative cuisine it serves. The restaurant is small and quiet, attentive staff and, obviously, a brilliant kitchen crew. My husband had Chateaubriand and I had gnocchi with crab and shrimp. Alas, I could not eat all of the generous portion. The Chateaubriand disappeared quickly.
I highly recommend this as an outstanding place for lunch or dinner.
We had a wonderful evening, but the food was very underwhelming and for the quality expensive. The highlights were the little hot bread rounds with hummus, oil and balsamic and extensive wine and cocktail offerings. The blackberry margarita and wines were perfect. For appetizers; the bruschetta was average, but the octopus carpaccio was rubbery and almost tasteless. For the main course, I had the mixed grill with polenta. The meats were cooked to order, but without any character. We passed on dessert. Of the five diners, no one remarked on the memorability of the food and for $400 plus dollars, I would expect some fond memories. There are too many other restaurant choices in the Campbell area for us to return here.
Think this restaurant is slipping or perhaps the executive chef was not working for lunch. Pasta was cooked well and perfectly al dente, but the carbonara otherwise was so salty and very liquidy yolk to be virtually inedible. Salads were barely okay but one wasn't dressed as described on menu wIth lemon juice.
We are never disappointed in the food and Francesco, who waited on us, was truly great at everything he said and did for us. You can't go wrong with any of the charcuterie plates; the wine selection is not extensive but includes some great finds. Something as simple on the menu- like Nona's lasagna- was the best I've ever had. I highly recommend this neighborhood gem!
We love this restaurant. It's one that we choose to go to when we're wanting someone a little more special. The octopus & carpaccio appetizers, the gnocchi, ...& anything else on the menu is just heaven! So delicious. Great wine selection too. Get a reservation. :)
This was my 2nd visit in the last 2 years and both occasions the food was excellent! This time we were on a double date and had a nice corner table to convene that offered us a prime location to easily hear our conversations. The server made recommendations based on my preferences and hit a home run. The cocktails were flavorful~ fresh blackberry margarita; the lamb chops; the risotto with scallops, homemade lasagna and gnocchi were all superb! Desserts to die for too!
The quality of the food is organic, locally grown and flavorful. I highly recommend you try Tigelleria.
This was our first time here and our dinner was great. The food was very good. There are not too many good Italian restaurants around here, but this is definitely one! The food was fresh and very well prepared. The decor is quite dated (especially in the side room), and could use some updating. But again, the food made up for it!
All the dish we tried were awesome except for the argula salad with mushroom and truffle oil where the mushroom although fresh, tasted a bit muddy. The octopus cappacio was wonderfully balance and had amazing texture. Zucchini spaghetti with shrimp was refreshing and cooked to perfection. I can't wait to go back and try other dishes. Cost is a bit higher for the decor but food itself is worth it.
The little guy with the tattoos and earrings was very annoyed about our drink orders. We did not order anything special but did not want the "house" brands. The service overall was poor but the waitress suddenly got very friendly when it came time to pay the bill. Our total cost for a dinner for 4 people was over $300, I would expect much better service. Food was average.
I ate at this restaurant one other time with the same friends and liked it.
However the service was a turn-off this time. Two of us had to beg for a glass of wine while we awaited the other three diners and then had to endure a sales pitch aiming us to buy a pricy bottle of wine. A non-drinker had to ask for a soda and then again for a refill which didn't arrive until the end of the meal. Also, the wait person removed the water container and we had to both ask for more water and the final check. With each request I had to go find someone. Not very relaxing. I hope this feedback will be helpful to the owner because the place has a lot going for it otherwise.
