Tierney's Copperhouse Ratings and Reviews
Nachos were a very good appetizer. Clams were less then desirable. Shrimp carbonera was delicious. Wife had the scallops and mom had the fried chicken that were all very delicious. Dad had the chicken and dumplings after finally getting it (order was messed up and late to the party but they were very nice and comped the meal) which was less then tasty. Had a soapy taste to it. All in all, would go back just not for chicken and dumplings. Great atomosphere. Good drinks.
Tierney's never fails to satisfy. From the time you are greeted at the door upon your arrival, to the attentive and friendly staff, to the unbelievably consistent food quality, Tierney's has something for everyone for every occasion. It has been out "go to restaurant of choice" since we discovered it over three years ago.
The food and place were nice...
What may have changed our opinion: The waitress had forgotten our order and the wrong dish was brought out. Then the entrees took forever, we thought the waitress forgot to put in our order. We were there for approximately 2 1/2 hours. Mainly because of the wait on our food.
Overall, the place and ambiance are lovely. It may have been a bad day for our waitress. We will still go back because of the ambiance and the food was pretty good.
The descriptions by family of some of the menu items had my husband and I over anticipating our first visit. We were disappointed. Trust me , it was not the food ....that is very good.
First turn off was the dining room's musty smell, it really turned me off. The décor is very early American , the food is new American and innovative, there is a large rustic bar section of the restaurant ....I was confused. It doesn't fit together.
I would go again and sit in the bar area , have some of the great appetizers and a glass of wine. The Pot roast nachos are delicious ( they just need to drain them, they were sitting in oil), heard raves about the deviled eggs and tuna poke.
This could be a really good place once it figures out what it wants to be.
So pleased. From the moment we stepped in and we're seated we knew it was going to be an enjoyable dining experience. Our waiter was knowledgeable and very nice. There was no rush. We checked the menu st home so we had a good idea hat we wanted. Delicious beet salad, salmon entree for me plus raspberry sorbet. My husband enjoyed a delectable moist pork chop with mashed potatoes and creamed spinach. He enjoyed the briwnie dessert a la mode with whipped cream. We were extremely pleased and would return soon.
Everything was fine, nothing was special. The waitress was very nice and extremely attentive. The clams oreganata had too much bread crumbs, and the clam was tiny. Could hardly see it or taste it.
The beet salad was good. The scallops on mushroom risotto were very tasty.
The cocktails we had were good. We did not try any desserts.
All in all, I would go back if I was in the area, but I wouldn't make a special trip there.
I needed to find a place to go with my family for the double celebration of Mother's Day and my mother's birthday. My mom and sister live very near by in Wayne and had never heard of this place which surprised me, but it felt "right" to me, so I went ahead and booked it. What a find! Very cozy in a large space, reasonably priced, and good food! It was truly perfect for the occasion and we'll definitely consider it for other events in the future!
It was a casual dinner out with friends on a snowy Saturday. The restaurant was not busy but the bar was filled. Very nice bar area with high top tables. The restaurant and bar area had fireplaces. Service was prompt and food tasty. We had an interesting selection of meals - hamburger, half chicken, Baja shrimp and scallops. The scallop meal was a little chintzy on the number of scallops for the price of the meal but everyone enjoyed their entrees. We also shared a calamari as an appetizer - also tasty. Dessert was a disappointment. We shared an apple crisp with ice cream. Ice cream was delicious but crisp was gummy not crisp. Skip dessert and the meal was very good.
Great menu selections - food was Fantastic- service very good. Loved the ambience. Great "date" spot in my opinion because it's not loud or noisy. I was on a date, when I can't hear my date speaking I'm less inclined to return. We had a very enjoyable evening!
The food and ambiance at Tierney's Copper house are both great. My husband and I are foodies and while to food was simple that was what made it delicious. It will be hard not to get the tuna appetizer and to try something new. The service was polite and fast, although we did specifically dine earlier than usual on a Friday night. We will be going again soon, this time with friends and at a peak time, so we will see if it remains consistent.
Great drink menu as well - can't wait to try more!
Overall, it was a great night out. This place may become our new "go to."
Amazing is all I can say. Rarely do you find a restaurant that can perfect steak and seafood.. usually one or the other.. this was perfect on all counts. Scallop appetizers followed by the Filet Mignon.. I also had a few bites of my wife's ribeye.. so much flavor. The polenta side was even perfect.. the crafted drink "the bear".. perfect. I'm hooked.
Went New Years Eve after a movie. Mediocre food at best for the price. Not a friendly welcoming environment (almost seemed we were intruding and not regulars). My husband and I had two different menu's which offered several different items not available. Service was "ok"; needed to ask for the steak knives for our dinners. The New England Clam Chowder was very bland (almost like a white sauce with clams thrown in). Local place for us, and since this was our second time, we won't be going back. Disappointing.
Whether you are looking for a special place to take a date, a friends get together, everyday dining, a restaurant to celebrate a special occasion or to meet a business associate. Tierney's Copperhouse is your one-stop shop. From the friendly, helpful hostess who greets you upon your arrival, to the highly competent and knowledgeable servers, a huge beer and wine list and seasonally changing reasonably priced lunch/dinner menus, Tierney's just "gets it" . It has been our "go to" place for all occasions ever since we discovered it three years ago.
