Tuesday night is pizza night at Tiella although you can order personal sized pizzas on any night (except Tuesday). Go figure. Their dough is tasty and their toppings are top quality. And you walk away with money in your pocket!
Went on a busy Saturday for a late dinner. Had the Capesanta appetizer, which was quite good tasting, but texturally the prosciutto wrapping the scallop was too tough to match the softer texture of the scallop. Also had the Garganelli pasta--undersauced, lacking in flavor, with mushy, overcooked fava beans. I've had much better meals at Tiella, so I was a bit surprised.
When I’m in NYC this is usually one of the restaurants that I return to. The food is very authentic Italian, the service is impeccable, and they have a nice list of Italian wines. Highly recommended!
Every dish was well prepared. No non-sense quality food.
Excellent food, lovely cocktails and warm, friendly service. This is our new neighborhood "go to" for higher-end Italian food. We're pleased to have discovered it.
Consistently excellent food in a very informal, small setting. Good servers, and atmosphere is reasonable. No luxury except for the food. Prices for food and wine are very reasonable Great neighborhood place, easy to walk by in error.
We love coming here as a couple or with friends. A great hidden gem with amazing food and great service. Mario is always there with a warm greeting! Share the thin crust pizza while you consider all the menu choices. A must for anyone wanting authentic Italian.
Excellent food for such a small space. Pity can't have parties larger that 4.
Genuine old school Italian fare--including home made pasta and interesting small pizzas.
Definitely worth a visit!!!
Finally, a neighborhood restaurant I will come back to again and again. We were so impressed The food, the service, everything was top notch.
Consistently very good food. Always a safe bet.
Thry must have changed chefs
Food was over cooked and tasteless
The fish was smothered in sauce
The pizza was undercooked.
I have been here in the past and this was not my experience.
I doubt i will return
Fabulous, as always! A hidden gem of a restaurant.
We have been to Tiella about half a dozen times and have never been disappointed with the food or service.
Tiella is a neighborhood gem. A very small, but cozy spot. Food is consistently good with lots of options. Our waiter was knowledgeable and could answer all questions. I ordered the Stracciatella E Tartufo, delicious, the eggplant parm also delicious. For my main course the Lamb shank, which was moist and tender. Will definitely go back.
A favorite neighborhood place. Only disappointment is that the portion sizes are small.
The quality of the food was absolutely delicious. We order burrata, crab cake, and a small pizza with shaved truffle on top. The ambiance had a quiet, romantic vibe with great music. Our server, Paula, was very attentive and we enjoyed having her. I would highly recommend this place.
We love Tiella. It’s one of our regular go to’s.
The food is always delicious and the vibe is calm and service excellent.
Never had a bad meal!
Went to Tiella with a friend and was very pleased. Salads were very fresh and tasty. Our main courses were excellent. We both had the fish special. I would definitely go back if I have a chance.
Always a warm and welcoming experience— and amazing food to top it off!
Very accommodating staff and wonderful food. Authentic Italian fare served with creativity. Food is fresh and manager is very welcoming.
great flavors and all very fresh - fish was terrific and they know how to cook pasta properly.
great house wine at good price point
warm / cozy atmosphere
i will definitely go back
Nice appetizers and desserts. VERY disappointing pasta. Tasted like sauce from a jar mixed with a few limp vegetables.
Service was great
Everything was amazing
ambience was amazing, staff was super friendly and very Italian :) wine was delish and food was superb! Was a great girls night out, especially being in town for only the weekend. so much better than the normal pub food!
Food was outstanding! Had the pasta and seafood special that was absolutely delicious.
This restaurant was a pleasant surprise. We were served by Mario, the owner, who was very nice and professional. Prices were moderate. My arugala salad was delicious. My husband tried the pizza and loved it, and we both had pasta for an entrée. I was surprised this tiny, hole in the wall restaurant, has been around for 8 years and I never tried it. It's gets a pretty high rating on Zagats.
This is one of those nice little restaurants with good food and a nice ambiance that you occasionally stumble upon. It's small and narrow, but comfortable and quiet. I'd call it upscale comfortable. The food was good, but not memorable - except for the Gallette (chickpea fritters with prosciutto, stracciatella cheese and figs), which was amazing. Overall, you won't go wrong if you just want a nice, quiet dinner with interesting menu items.
Neighborhood gem. Been there a few times. And will go many times again. Good food. Good service.
Lovely handmade pastas and food. Dorado and NY strip as good as found anywhere. Try the pistachio desert cake.
We love this place. The tiellas are such a treat, and the staff cheerfully divides then to share. It's impossible to pick a favorite -- they are all so good. The room is warm and cozy and inviting. The staff is friendly and accommodating. It's a neighborhood treasure.
Very good food and service as usual. One of our favorite restaurants in the neighboroud
Tiella's is a small restaurant om First Ave. that had been recommended to us by a friend. Our first meal there was terrific. The restaurant was uncrowded and the owner took our orders and also suggested wines from the region he grew up in. The food was very good and while this is not a"white table" dining experience the ingredients are fresh and the dished they prepare reflect that fact. The second time was a little less impressive. It was more crowded and the food suffered somewhat we thought. For those reading this we think it's worth the visit. Our first meal was memorable and restaurants sometimes tumble when very crowded. We will be back in a month or so to make the judgement about which restaurant Tiella's is-a very good one with very good value or a restaurant that can be "hit or miss". By the way lunch there proved to be quite nice and a good value!
Delicious, simple food. Lovely presentation. Warm and friendly sevice. AND on the quieter side.
This was a great location and a great value - food was delicious
This is a great restaurant that if you don’t keep your eyes open, you might pass it by. Food exceptional. Service intimate. Very personable place. Very small space but it’s cozy and honestly the food is outstanding.
It's always delicious and charming brick wall, ambience
I highly recommend this restaurant. I have eaten there a number of times and the food is always delicious. Pasta dishes are very good as are fish dishes. The 3 course lunch menu is fabulous. They have nice wine by the glass as well as reasonably priced bottles. The waitstaff is efficient, knowledgeable, and friendly. Try this place.
