Our second visit here...well worth getting off the interstate when in Charleston. Food is delicious and service excellent.
just what the doctor ordered. Food, wine were wonderful and MaryAnn took great care of us.
Good food and drink as always. The seafood was fresh and grilled to perfection. One of my favorite places to eat. Period.
We were traveling home from Fla and booked a hotel within walking distance to Tide Water. We have dined there before and been pleased. It was the evening of the Fabulous Four. They gave us a table close to the TV and put the game on so we could watch! The oysters and Prime Rib were delicious! Service was outstanding.
I selected Tidewater for a business meeting that included 3 locals and 2 out of state visitors. I had not been to Tidewater for a couple years and always enjoyed it and wanted a good experience for my visitors. Minor bumps such us being given lunch menus (we arrived at 6pm). The dinner menu looked to be the same except for higher prices on the same menu items. Also our server seemed confused about the inclusion of a side item on the jambalaya when it was clearly listed as included. He seemed to say he was doing us a favor by allowing that person to include a side item. Other than those initial bumps the experience was good to very good. The hot bread is always a treat and everyone was pleased with the preparation and quality of their meals which included 2 blackened swordfish steaks, jambalaya, fried shrimp and baked, stuffed flounder. Prices were reasonable for the food, service and quality.
Exceptional from start to finish
Good food and service, nice atmosphere. Have been there several time on the way thru town. One of the best in Charleston
Tidewater Grill is always a great choice for dining in Charleston, WV. The seafood is very fresh. The grilled swordfish is always good and perfectly cooked and seasoned. The bread and greek salad are unique and great. All the food is very fresh. The service is always very good. Tidewater has a large open bar and raw bar too. It has multiple options for beer, wine and cocktails and all are good value.
We came to town for my son's birthday, Clay center Symphony w/Jurassic Park and dinner. I made my reservations on line and everything was just perfect. Great service and food.
Great calamari, halibut and kale salad. Steamed broccoli was drenched in some kind of sauce that ruined it. We should have been offered an option to have it plain with no sauce. Excellent martini and service. I will return.
Everything was great
One standout aspect is their delicious dinner rolls!
Great food, very attentive waiter. Clean, nice and quiet.
Very welcoming- everyone’s appetizers and dinners were perfect.
Had a great night celebrating my birthday.
Ordinarily I like Tidewater. This time the waitress got the order wrong. And the chef did too. I ordered steak medium rare and got it medium well.
Three couples enjoyed a nice evening in celebration of Valentine’s Day. Service was great, the food was good, and we will enjoy the restaurant, again.
Great place for an unplanned get together with friends
We went for my husband's birthday. We were disappointed because they were out of two different kinds of beers and salmon. For this type/price of restaurant, I don't think you should have to settle for a second or third choice. The food we did have was very good.
We had a wonderful experience with Travis as our waiter. It was a family get together occasion with cousins, sisters and my 82 year old mother with her 92 year old brother! Travis was exceptional!
Wonderful evening with friends and family. Food was delicious.
Great service from “Gabby” , she was very attentive and patient with our group.
Excellent service, excellent food, excellent martinis...
We always try to work in a dinner at the Tidewater when in town, due to its great seafood. This time we would have enjoyed it more had our table not been next to the kitchen area, which was noisy and high traffic. Servers seemed to be over-extended with tables. We'll give it another try next visit to Charleston.
The food was excellent, unique and perfectly prepared. Our waitress was the best I've ever had. She's a 13 year veteran there!!! Entire experience TOP NOTCH!
MaryAnne made it a great dinner. Highly recommend!!
I've always had excellent service and food at Tidewater. Had a lifelong friend visiting from California and wanted her to enjoy the atmosphere and food. The staff and General Manager David Andrews were very accommodating to our group of 9 ladies! Will definitely be coming back to Tidewater!!
We have done small and large gatherings here, always with great feedback. Seafood heavy but with options, it’s a great spot.
Jerk shrimp is always my favorite. Kids can't get enough of the bread and fried fish. Great food and more upscale setting. Highly recommend!
Average service, no acknowledgement of birthday during greeting or meal despite leaving note in Open Table. Food was excellent.
One of our favorites for really great seafood!
Calamari is our favorite and the fresh catch every time is outstanding!
Missed JB our usual waiter, he is top notch! Other than that it was as perfect as usual.
They should have some vegetarian appetizer options. Overall food was great but a bit pricey for lunch. They only offer dinner on weekends and this is not clear on the website.
A great plus is having reservations and using Open Table! Hardly anyone in town does this!
The entire experience was wonderful.
Missy (our hostess) was excellent!
Great place! Friendly staff. A bit pricey but good food. Really enjoyed Easter lunch there. Our waitress was great!!!!!
Great experience! Everyone in group enjoyed their meal😊
Emily took excellent care of our various requests.
We went to celebrate my parents 50th wedding anniversary. We were given a table away from the crowd and had a wonderful time.
We used to eat at Tidewater often, but a few years ago, I ordered Parmesan encrusted sole and was served a thick white fish. I questioned our server and was told the new chef filleted the fish differently. I was sure that was wrong and later confirmed what I knew with the local fish shop that filet of sole is always a thin fish. We stopped going to Tidewater because of this incident, however decided to give it another try with some out of town guests last night. Again, I ordered the sole, but explained to our server exactly what had happened before and asked that if the fish wasn't really sole, to please bring me back the menu. When she brought the fish, she told me the chef assured her it was sole; it was not. Again, Tidewater tried to pass off a cheap thick white fish as the much more expensive sole. I called her back over, asked her to take it away, as it was definitely not sole. She was very apologetic, and I have no complaints with her. A chef came out a few minutes later with a new plate that had the right fish on it this time. He told me I had a good eye and that the original fish was orange roughy. While I appreciate their correcting their mistake, the fact that this happened twice, several years apart, is disturbing. I know it's common to try to pass off a cheaper fish as the more expensive one, but it should not have happened, especially with my very specific request beforehand. While we have had good times here in the past, Tidewater is permanently off our restaurant list from here on out - this was deceitful, and you've lost our business.
