My wife and I usually go to Tidewater every year for our anniversary. Once again, they did a great job and did not disappoint. Our food was great and our waitress was exceptional. I have never had a bad experience at Tidewater.
Excellent food, excellent service. Very clean and safe.
Very good fried oysters. Great service.
Waitress and manager were not nice about birthday deal for a teen. We have had multiple birthday dinners there for our daughter and have never been asked for her birth certificate. The manager was rude about it and the experience was very embarrassing for me and my daughter. She brought a friend with her. The waitress and manager kept leaving the table to go and talk to someone. They returned to the table multiple times to review the birth certificate policy. Luckily my daughter had her birthday on Snap Chat to show them. Ultimately, they honored the discount but it was a very unpleasant experience.
Everything was delicious
Ordered steak rare but it came medium. Sent it back and it came out raw. I didn't even eat it
Wonderful meal and excellent service. Everything was clean and we were very happy with service.
My beau & I are not eating out often due to COVID-19. On Friday evening, we wanted to enjoy a meal in a restaurant. Everyone at the restaurant treated us as a priority & checked on us often. The only suggestion I would make is that our server (do not remember his name), seemed to be speaking louder than necessary through his mask. It was not a big deal & I’m sure everyone is adjusting as best they can to the safety measures. Overall, we had an enjoyable meal.
Eric was very attentive and knowledgeable. The service was outstanding. The food was good and of value
I was disappointed that I could not get a baked potato. I also think that $25 for an appetizer and a soft drink is exorbitant. i was there for my birthday with friends, and was disappointed you no longer give a birthday dessert, and charging an extra $1.95 for a Greek salad that used to be included is disappointing as well.
My fried shrimp and scallops, and rolls were delicious.
Great experience - we felt very safe - plenty of space from other customers - lots of effort to make patrons comfortable during this pandemic.......we will go back!
We were in a split group, so we had a different table than some of our party. Our waiter really only cared about our table when the head man (the one who paid) visited our table. He asked the other table if they wanted dessert, but not our table, and then brought them the check. When we asked for the dessert menu and he chuckled and said "I asked everyone if they wanted any and they said no, so I brought the bill." He did not ask us. The food was not worth what it cost.
Excellent! Elegant yet casual atmosphere, lovely dark woods and nautical decor with indoor and outdoor seating. Great menu with a selection of fresh catches, standard entrees of seafood and meats, nice selection of sides, salads and appetizers. Extensive bar menu with wines, beers and crafted cocktails. All moderately priced by comparison. Welcoming staff, efficient and friendly waiters...ask to sit in Earl's section. Loved it so much on this visit, I went back again another night while in Charleston.
Excellent service, excellent food. Quite a surprise as I was having problems finding anything open in downtown Charleston. Part of their success is local sourcing for their food. The other part of their success is hiring great people to work for them. Highly recommended.
Food was excellent - felt that the Seafood Grill was a little skimpy for the price. Should have had a little more fish. Fish and Chips was hugh had to share with husband.
Reservation was for 8 family members but had to split up 6 and 2. Service was very slow and food was mediocre. Had to send salad back because of and hair in it.
All social distancing was respected, earl servers were wearing masks. My first time eating in a restaurant was a good one. I would go back.
Food was not hot. we had to sit outside because my handicapped husband couldn't set at the booth and they had no tables. appetizer was good. we have eaten here before and enjoyed it but I was underwhelmed on this occasion.
One of the best seafood restaurants my friend and I have ever eaten at. Our server went out of her way to make sure my friend had food she could eat due to a limited diet.
First time out since social distancing began. Had a great time, wonderful meal! Fried oysters were to die for! Wonderful service; gracious staff all wearing masks (as we did when we first arrived, and on the way out). Definitely worth going there!
We got the Brussel sprout appetizer. It is the best.....great flavor and a good sized portion. I got the sea food grill. Fish was a little overcooked but still had good flavor. The wife got crab cakes and was happy with them. The bread is always good. Our server, Charles, was excellent.
First time out to eat since the virus hit. Jerk shrimp appetizer was fresh and tasty. My Caesar salad had a tangy dressing that was very good. My wife opined that her house salad with the light dill dressing was excellent. We both had the seafood grill consisting of small potions of shrimp, scallops, salmon and swordfish. We will be ordering this, again. As always, the bread was fresh and the service excellent. Given the requirements of social distancing, which they accomplished well, was was pleasantly surprised how great the meal was.
Great evening out, Oysters on the half shell, hot bread, good Caesar Salad, Chilean Sea Bass (grilled) and on Point!
Our man Will provided EXCELLENT Service, so nice to get out and extra nice to leave Tidewater with a big satisfied smile! We’ll be going back.
This was our first venture to a restaurant since the lockdown. We chose the tidewater first the traditional excellence of the food. We ate outside and enjoyed it very much. I’m sure it was a new experience for the staff as well and the service quality
( wait time and smoothness) will return to your high standards with time.
Great local restaurant. Service not this best on this visit, but the food was good.
That was the best food and our server was amazing.
Wonderful place to celebrate a Birthday. Excellent service. Food was delicious. Try the stuffed salmon. Yum!
Great Food , service and atmosphere!! Celebrated my birthday!!
Delivered the wrong food.
Party of six went for 84 year old Grandpa’s birthday
I asked first thing if they had any prime rib left.
Waitress said yes.
Grandpa ordered prime rib medium.
The came back with stuffed Flounder.
I guess medium rare.
We told them they made a mistake.
After 2 hours total.
Waitress came back and told us there was no prime rib left.
After watching everyone else eat, Grandpa left without eating.
I will never go back.
Great food. For Charleston it is one of the best restaurants in the city. I have never had a bad meal in over 20 years. I will continue to visit and eat at the tidewater.
We were celebrating my husband’s birthday with 6 adult and 2 small children. The kids were a bit rowdy, but our server was very patient and interacted well with them. She was helpful making checking and making adjustments for my vegan daughter and son-in-law. The food was, as usual, great.
New job! Absolutely LOVE the miso glazed Chilean sea bass!!
We were on a little get away to Charleston and this was the perfect restaurant!
Friendly staff always try to accomadate our requests. We ask for Mary Ann she our favorite server and next is Denise both are excellent. This is one our favorite restaurants in the tri-stare area
Resturant week meal was excellent. Brussel sprouts were awesome, shrimp excellent. Maple salmon glaze was a bit watery. Bread as always, is a delight. Yummy desserts.
Food was outstanding, as always. Consistently our favorite place to eat, especially to celebrate a birthday. It was super busy on a Saturday night, and the staff obviously felt it. The hostess seemed rather short with a few customers and our server seemed frantic and in a huge hurry. One of our side dishes was left out and another was incorrect, however both mistakes were corrected, which we appreciated. This was also the first time I was ever charged to add feta cheese to my house salad, making it virtually the same upcharge as a Greek salad. I would have appreciated being informed when ordering, as it was off-putting to find out upon receipt of the bill. Will likely not do that again. A good experience overall, but the quality of service could have been better. We will definitely be back and will try to request Mary Ann, who is one of our long time favorite servers and always takes good care of us.
Food is always excellent! Service was a little slow especially for a Sunday night with few customers but we enjoyed the ambience and were happy not to be rushed. Will definitely be back!
My husband was disappointed in his meal. He had the seafood grill. His fish was overcooked. That's a definite negative for a seafood restaurant.
I had a Chicken St. Tropez and it was good.
The rolls which are a "claim to fame" for Tidewater were under-baked.
Our total with tip was well over $70 (that included one alcoholic beverage). Unfortunately, the meal overall did not merit the price.
Service was prompt and courteous, good rolls and salad. The seafood grille was ok but the salmon and swordfish were over cooked, most likely as a result of being very small fillets. The two small shrimp were delicious as were the two small scallops. Decent but seemed anemic for the price.
Service was excellent, grilled mahi mahi and salmon were great, the house salad was much better than other restaurants. All in all, a wonderful experience.
