Tidewater Grill - Charleston
Great food and employees with really good attitudes.
Music was loud and not dinner appropriate. How about some jazz versus Huey Lewis ?
Waitress brought dinner before we were halfway through salad. I had house salad and husband had Caesar. House salad greens were limp and some brown. When waitress brought entrees while we were eating salads she ask if we wanted our dinners to be taken back an placed under heat. No, it is seafood it appeared and was already dried out. So our dinners sat on table while we finished salad.
Yes, the shrimp were dry and so were scallops. Husband had blackening on scallops that was so thick you could not taste or see scallops.
When we ordered food we asked that the aparagus be placed on separate plate and it was not. Waitress never returned to ask if we needed anything or to pour wine from our bottle we ordered. We served ourselves the wine and we shared the one dinner roll we had left. No manager stopped by to asked how things were, we saw at least one manager on the floor. The restaurant was not that busy. Our same waitress was setting up tables all around us and sweeping floor practically under our feet until we finally asked for check. She asked if we wanted desssert. We declined. We have dined at this establishment for many years and now have decided it is not really worth the money (bill was $100+ with tip) there are other choices In town. The lamp shade fell in my water glass because it was so loose hanging on wall and the chairs are in bad need of being replaced. We left the restaurant at 10 minutes before closing time.
Service was above average.
It was a wonderful experience all around. The food was fantastic and service was excellent. I would highly recommend to anyone searching for a great seafood meal!
Everyone enjoyed their food. The Miso Chillean Sea Bass, Salmon with BBQ glaze, Jambalaya and Crab Cakes were outstanding. The teen enjoyed her beer battered fish and the young man liked his chicken fingers and fries including drink for $5.99. Best hot bread and Greek salad in Charleston!
This is a very nice and classy restaurant. The food is delicious and the service is great.
Food is always very good. Disappointed in the salad dressing choices - no French - and this time, no tea.
Very good and reasonable.
There was a foul odor. The food was not plated well at all. The prime rib was served raw. The service was not very friendly
My order came wrong. I ordered Filet & Shrimp but was brought Lobster instead of shrimp, which was ok. But I ordered my steak Medium and it came Well. Had to have it remade. Food portions very small for the price. I was also disappointed that a free desert is no longer a part of the Free Birthday Meal. There was no flatware at the table and had to ask for some when appetizers arrived. I asked for extra dressing for my salad and never received it. Food was mostly bland for close to $100 I expect better. I usually am very pleased with the food at Tidewater, but this time not at all.
We had eaten lunch here a couple years ago and it was excellent food and service, so for our special girls weekend we decided to go back. We were more than disappointed. The service was very poor, the restaurant very noisy as they only used a small portion of the restaurant so everyone was in one section by the kitchen. Our server didn’t bring our silverware until we asked for it, twice, was very slow on filling our drinks and just didn’t seem with it. While the food was good it definitely wasn’t worth $116! Wish we had gone elsewhere.
Tidewater Grill Still a Winner!
I used to live in Charleston, WV but now I am only there a few times a year visiting relatives. I always like to eat at Tidewater Grill. I have eaten at Tidewater since it first opened and it never disappoints. The service, food and value are excellent. It has a great variety of seafood and its always fresh. The bread and Greek salad are unique to this restaurant. It also has a great variety on non-seafood options. I almost always have grilled swordfish. It is juicy and perfectly seasoned. I have had swordfish in Charlotte, NC at several well known restaurants and most times it comes over cooked and dry. My husband had the burger and it was juicy too. The waitress was attentive and friendly. If you are in Charleston, WV and especially if you want great seafood then go to Tidewater Grill. I recommend reservations too.
Enjoyed dinner. Calamari was a little "spongy" but it is a very difficult item to prepare properly. Everything else was fantastic.
I've been here many times and will continue to do so. There is an extensive menu that offers many opportunities to have a wonderful dining experience.
The food was good but not what I expected. I felt it was similar to any eat in restaurant when it comes to the food. However the service could not have been better, high class for me even the way I was treated! The restaurant it's self was also very elegant.
We happened to go during their “Lobster fest.” We had baked, stuffed lobster which was EXCELLENT! Server was very good and attentive and respectful to our son who has autism. This is always a good sign for us.
Dinner was excellent as always!
Perfectly prepared fish--with many options of style. Varied and yummy menu. We loved the brussel sprouts appetizer (which we chose to enjoy during our main course (steak and lobster for my friend and halibut for me). Staff was very attentive to us. We would come gladly return.
The fish and chips was heavily breaded but the calamari and Brussels sprouts were on point.
Fish was very good. Broccoli was a little undercooked. The advertised add-ins with the kale/quinoa salad were almost non-existent and the salad was one note, missing the mark and overpriced. Service was slow although there seemed to be plenty of waitstaff and not a full restaurant. Our waiter, while congenial, disappeared for long periods. Tidewater previously always seemed a good value, a known quantity for a pleasant evening, and now perhaps not so much.
This place is horrible the food portions was tiny. We got sitted way before people that sat next to us and we got everything last. Waitress was terrible didn't get rolls there till about 35 minutes after we sat down. Never coming back
Always a good experience at Tidewater. Our table was next to the kitchen which was my only complaint but we could’ve had other tables but this one was the most comfortable and I picked comfort over location.
Traveling through Charleston on the way to Asheville. Stopped for the night and chose Tidewater Grill from
Open Table. Excellent food and attentive service! We would
Definitely go there again!
Have eaten many times at Tidewater with 4-5 ratings. They were off this time. I’ll be back.
Wow!! Outstanding place. Food was superb as well as the service. Highly recommend!!!
Delicious fresh seafood! Marianne is the best waiter there and provides excellent service. Try the grilled trout when not sold out.
The food was excellent, especially the crab cakes. The service was very good, but we had an even better one there at Tidewater.
Eli was our server and did a fabulous job explaining the specials and entrees. We shared a shrimp cocktail. My husband had the crab meatballs and creamy coleslaw. He said both were excellent. I ordered the lobster rolls and fries. The lobster was chopped finely and had a large amount of paprika. The rolls were grilled perfectly.
We ate dinner on Saturday night. The food was okay. The service was awful. We waited over one hour for our meal. It was hot when it arrived, but just average.
First time there for 38th wedding anniversary, plan to go back!
Flounder was over cooked and tasted fishy.
The food was quite good. The atmosphere was nice. The service was excellent. The bread was ok. Would recommend.
I thought the food was very good. A bit overpriced but not too bad. Our service was a bit rushed.
The crabcakes were absolutely wonderful. They used to have so much filling, but now are all lump crab meat. Finally a place to get tasty crackers!! Hooray for you!
Food was hot, tasty and right amount. Great seafood or beef.
Lovely dinner. The food was very good and our waitress was awesome. Service very attentive from all staff.
For a thirty dollar entree I would have expected more than two little shrimp, two little scallops and two small pieces of fish. The salmon and cod were overcooked and dry and everything was too salty.
Great and fresh seafoood.interesting appetizers.fast and pleasant service.
Wonderful food and excellent service!
Don't be hesitant to choose this exquisite seafood restaurant just because you are in land-locked Charleston WV. The seafood is flown in daily. The service is always great as the servers are seasoned and provide a great experience. The food is wonderful. Try the jerked shrimp appetizer. Everyone loves the Greek salad, but I always get house salad because I can't get enough of the yogurt dressing. Fresh fish fixed as you like it and a lovely wine list. Love this place. Great outdoor dining/people watching too.
Our waiter Wesley was very friendly and quick. Nice young gentleman. So many now a days are just there for the job.
