Tides Seafood & Sushi Bar - Green Valley Ranch Resort, Casino & Spa Ratings and Reviews
tried something new this time, shrimp tacos. i had previously tried the fish tacos, and they were excellent. the shrimp tacos are excellent as well. both dishes are quite reasonably priced.
i would recommend that you give them both a shot if you like tacos filled with really good stuff.
we were a party of four, in town with friends to celebrate a birthday. Had heard they had great fish fry. First of all, the price on the pie open table menu is listed as $13, but when you arrive it is $21. Three of us had fish fry while the fourth person had crab cakes. The crab cakes did not arrive at the table until shortly before we were done with our fish. Several times we asked the waiter where the food was....he stated that the cooks had gone with a shift change so the meal was delayed! Shift change at 6:30, very unlikely.
We asked to speak with the manager. He stated there was no shift change nor would that be the problem even if it were. He did honor the web sight price but said it would be just for that evening not future visits. He also provided us with one dessert which was a nice gesture but did not compensate for the long wait and the poor service from the waiter.
We would not recommend this place to anyone nor will we ever return
We normally eat at Tides for lunch. Wednesday was our first dinner and may be our last. The food was fine but their same dishes at lunch are a fraction of the price. As seniors, we can't afford to overspend...for the exact same food!
Did have a funny interaction with the maitre'd. I asked her to break a $20, so I could tip the waitperson and she wouldn't give me change. Directed me to the casino change machine?
i have dined at this restaurant a number of times, and the food is still really good. in a previous review, i had mentioned that they changed suppliers, and i liked the old supplier better. i suspect i was not alone, because it appears they have gone back to the original supplier. the food is back to top quality.
i had also mentioned that the prices were creeping up. it appears that the price creep has stopped, and the portions are still quite large. until the prices get too high, or the quality and portions suffer, i'm OK with it.
there are several things i demand of a restaurant. i expect the food to be very good quality, i expect my water glass to always be full, and i expect to never walk out hungry.
i'm still coming back...
We have dined here several times both alone and with friends. The meals have always been good as is the service. Occasionally the noise level is a bit much but it is after all inside of a casino. We consistently order the salmon dish which is always excellent. On this particular occasion I had the boullibase (spelling) and it had a goodly amount of excellent quality seafood.
decided to try something new tonight, so i gave the linguini w/white clam sauce a try. it was really good, the portion size was quite large, and the price was very reasonable. i would definitely recommend it. however, i will give you advance warning, you have to like garlic.
We usually enjoy the food tremendously, but this time we were disappointed which we expressed to the manager, Tony. The softshell crab in the sushi roll was dry and the pieces in both sushi rolls ordered were miscut - some much too large to place in one's mouth.
No effort was made to compensate the diner - just the complaint acknowledged with indication that the chef would be informed.
I’ve never particularly liked The Tides After dining there twice and having bad meals both times, but on our way to show my friend and her husband chose to go there. I decided I was not going to eat a full meal but ordered oysters-Pacific oysters my favorite- and a Caesar salad. I have to admit that both were excellent. The Caesar salad was fresh and crisp and the dressing was exactly what Caesar dressing should be. I ordered six raw oysters and they were so incredibly delicious and fresh I ordered another six.
Our waiter look like he wanted to be anywhere else but where he was and barely spoke to us, never smiled, but that’s OK I didn’t want to make friends with the waiter anyway.
No atmosphere or ambience here... tables and chairs and some booths, no decorating just a plain diner type setting . We were having a quick meal so it wasn’t something that particularly bothered any of us but I would never come here for dinner it just doesn’t suit us.
i was not as pleased on my last visit as the previous ones. it appears they have changed suppliers, and the old one was better. i have also noticed that the portions are getting smaller and the prices are going up. i will give it another try, since every place is entitled to a bad day. however, if this trend continues, it will be a while before i go back.
Wanted clams raw; only 2 sizes available: teeny and huge! No way you could enjoy either size of these. Also prices have soared and portions are smaller now ( e.g. Crab cakes served with NO greens, as described. )Used to love coming here, but server was mumbling and I was disappointed.
We have dined at Tides several times in the past year. It is a casual seafood restaurant with a varied menu ranging from sushi to gumbo. It is in the Green Valley Ranch Casino and close to home and usually a decent dining experience. This time was an exception with service that ranged from uneven to nonexistent. Our server had to make three separate trips to fill three empty water glasses pausing between visits to chat with other staff. It will be awhile before we forget that bad experience.
Usuallly we go there and the food is great. But 3 of us got sick the next day. We called to tell them because we thought they should know. Instead they put someone on the phone from security. So, we tried to let them know very nicely and were surprised that they would put someone on the phone who didn't know what bouillabaisse was. So odd that they just didn't care. Why didn't they just put a manager on? Never heard of such a thing.
my wife and i went here for the first time a couple of months ago, and to say the least, it was excellent. i have wanted to try their lobster roll, but i hadn't gotten the chance to come back until today. the lobster roll is a little pricey, but well worth the money. it was in the traditional boston bun, which is just necessary (what can i say). it was stuffed with almost whole lobster claws, and was made with only the required ingredients (lobster, mayo, celery, and a little (very little) seasoning. everything else was excellent, but i decided to focus on the lobster roll for this review. as a side note, which i mentioned in my last review, the fish and chips is made from thick pieces of haddock, rather than cod. definitely a welcome surprise.
Getting fresh clams on the half shell is a hit or miss. Sometimes they are wonderful , others not. On Sat. The clams were minuscule ( about the size of a dime to a quarter ) and therefore you couldn't really get a taste of the clam. The crab cakes were good but no greens served with them. I usually am happy with Tides and their service.
We've always loved Tides. However, they've raised the prices and reduced the portion size. No longer a good value. The restaurant wasn't busy but our server was seldom seen (This is not new. With two exceptions, the wait staff has never been very attentive.).
They should add a "maybe" check-off for whether you'd recommend this restaurant. We've always done so in the past but will be more reluctant to do it in the future. If something works don't try to fix it. Go back to your old prices (Which were high enough to make a profit.) and portion sizes.
I have watched this space transform from one oyster bar to another over the years. This was a planned Father's Day celebration as my guest wanted seafood. I had not visited for at least two years, however, I was presently surprised that the food remains tasty and the chefs preparing it are quite humble. We both ordered the bouillabaisse, the crab, lobster, clams and shrimp tasted pretty fresh with the saffron rounding things out. This was a great choice. Our server, Sherree, was on top of things. The only sour note was a cocktail we ordered...not great, opted for juice/water instead.
