Great with kids. They love watching the koi ponds
The fresh fish on the menu was amazing as well as the waterfront dining experience.
Excellent service and food! The manager was so accommodating. Best meal and ambience on Kauai!! Our teenagers even loved the food.
We were guests of the hotel and ate here for Fathers Day dinner. The setting is out of this world in it's uniqueness and beauty. Out daughters (6.5 and 4.5 years old) did great and the kids menu was very simple and good tasting. Key fish everywhere. Beautiful at sundown and after dark. Would return again in a heart beat! Very special. Food was great!
We came here to celebrate our 29th Wedding Anniversary. The place is really nice and the seats we have has a spectacular view of the sunset. The food are really good and it’s worth the price I paid for.
Celebrated Father’s Day dinner, the setting/backdrop was wonderful so was the food and service. Will return to Tidepools.
I wanted some place special to take my husband for Fathers Day. This restaurant Has spectacular views and koi ponds. They seated us with babies and young children around us incurring numerous distractions. Which was strange as there was other seating available. My husband ordered the red snapper which was dry, I had prime rib . I requested the end cut as I like it Med.well done. We had to send it back for a sauté which was ok. This restaurant for the location and price should be getting nothing but raves. Sorry but The menu and the food were mediocre.
The food was amazing but our server seemed annoyed to wait on us
This place is amazing. The setting couldn't be prettier and the food and service was wonderful. If you come to Kauai this should be on your must do list!
It was our anniversary. A better experience we could not have had. Everything, the food, the drinks, the service was wonderful. The food perfectly cooked and served. Can't say enough about it, a great place to be when a romantic dinner is what you want. Best on Kauai.
Perfect location, perfect ambiente. Friendly and fast service. All dishes are nicely prepared and cooked to the point. Even restaurant is a number of tables there is a nice and quite atmosphere. Another plus is that all tables face the water.
You need to Just cook the seafood better. It all had a rubber consistency that I do not prefer. (Shrimp, lobster tail plate. )
Vacation. Looked for a beautiful restaurant. Looked for great food. Found it.
This restaurant was a little loud for us, but there was a wedding reception happening behind so I assume this is where the noise was coming from. The service was exceptional and our food was delicious! We ended up spending quite a bit of money, but it was a wonderful dinner!
Beautiful views w koi pond by table. Food was good, service excellent, but crab cakes were mushy & did not like polenta crust on scallops.
Atmosphere was beautiful; ambiance cozy, server attentive, friendly staff; variety of food and cocktail selection was delicious. Truly enjoyed the evening which was topped off with a complimentary lava cake for my birthday. Can't wait to dine there again.
Waitstaff was great, great location.
We had such high hopes for this place. Location, setting, seating and wait staff were impeccable. But we came for the menu and were let down. We both ordered the mahi mahi that was served with forbidden rice. The fish was over cooked and dry and the rice was bland/tasteless to say the least. We hoped to be overwhelmed by dessert and asked a wait staff member for their recommendation, so I ordered the Malasadas based on that recommendation. Our server came back indicating that the chef could not prepare this dessert because a component of the recipe did not turn out right. This surprised me since it is a regular dessert menu item and a dining establishment with the level of rating it has achieved should have all menu item preparations perfected. Our server asked me what substitute I would want. She did not bring a menu with her, so I had to choose based on her telling me what was available. In the end, the dessert was wonderful and she did not charge us for it. Navigating ourselves from the main entrance was difficult as even staff within the hotel gave us directions, with a touch of uncertainty, to Tidepools location. Overall, the only things we enjoyed about this restaurant was the seating, view, dessert & wine. But what we came for was the meal, and were terribly disappointed.
It’s a beautiful venue and the service was excellent. The food was good, but it was our last night in Kauai and we had eaten amazing food before here. That is why the food only gets 4 stars. They need to up their game on the food quality.
Incredible experience. Food is great and so it the atmosphere! Have to go here at least once.
It is on the expensive side, but portions are generous and the setting is worth the price!
Got to go!
A totally amazing meal!! The setting, service and food were all above expectations. By far our best meal on Kauai, and we have been here over two weeks.
Our family always enjoys Tidepools and this vacation week on the island we went there twice. The first time with our teens for our first late night meal after our arrival and then again tonight as a date night with just my husband and me.
The chef is adding subtle changes to the menu while keeping favorites. The Tahitian ceviche, coconut chowder, arugula salad, and macadamia banana mahi mahi is all so good. The wine selection is solid, but most of all the service from the moment you arrive makes you feel so welcome.
Our awesome server, Les, has been there over 20 years and we have been coming each year for 15 and each time we come he makes us feel like family.
The ambiance says Kauai and I feel like it’s the best setting on the island.
So amazing, as always, Tidepools! Can’t wait to return.
We really enjoyed our celebration at Tidepools.
Everything was excellent.
Pricey but worth it always our special go to when visiting Kauai
We had a beautiful table for our anniversary celebration and our waiter was superb, I believe his name is Les. Mahalo
Beautiful resort setting, well prepared and tasty food, friendly and professional staff. Food and drink overpriced. The wine list had a chardonnay that I had at another Upscale Poipu restaurant listed for $10.00 more per glass. The entree’s are priced 10-15 dollars too high.
The ambiance does not justify the increased cost.
This is the best restaurant we visited during our visit to Kauai and the best ahi tuna I have had.
Everything about the place is special; the location on the lagoon watching koi swimming right next to your table and the beach beyond, the service, the original presentation and preparation of the dishes, everything makes it worth every one of the many pennies we spent here.
Make a reservation; and if you can, stay at the hotel; the grounds are spectacular.
Stayed at the Hyatt for a week and treated ourselves to a very nice dinner on our last night at Tide Pools.
It felt pointless to make a reservation because we waited 30 mins to be seated after checking in at our allotted time.
Food was better than average but not $50-80 good.
A pleasant, if expensive dining option on an island that chooses noise and spectacle over any semblance of fine dining. The setting is quite pretty, the service very good, the kitchen flexible and competent. We had a lovely evening. My only major complaint was the goofy and loud “Hawaiian” live music and dance being performed for a large convention group nearby. Drum-banging for an hour or more.
Ambience was very nice. Husband's entry disappointing and cold. A nice place to dine in Poipu.
Phenomenal meal including the waiter, ambiance and food. Absolutely outstanding! Recommend going just early enough to appreciate the beauty before it get dark. Gorgeous setting. Very romantic (although we were with our kiddos so not so much for us;). Our waiter went above and beyond. So attentive. So likeable. Overall best meal yet in Kauai.
It was fantastic.
Great dinner out at a special place - one of our favorites in Kauai. Food and view were awesome - large party next to us was loud but that happens.
Very average and dated food concept. Portions too big for fine dining. Needs to move out of the 80s. Great location ruined by average food
Amazing evening with wonderful food and a top notch server. Just one of those memorable experiences we will savor for years!
Make sure to ask for a window by the water, or you may get no view, which is a true let down.
Tidepools was delicious and beautiful! My husband and I had dinner at Tidepools for our anniversary and it was a lovely experience. We had delicious appetizers and entrees and splurged for a dessert - everything was beautifully plated and delicious. I recommend the venison and the opah!
We stayed at the Hyatt for our 4th year wedding anniversary and ate at Tidepools one evening for dinner. The food and service were both excellent. We both had filet mignon (my husband is allergic to seafood). It was about $50/plate, which is pretty standard for filet. The steak was cooked at the correct temperature and our cocktails were great! We aren’t ones to eat on the resort, but this place had pretty good reviews and we thought it was good choice. We would go back.
Excellent! Best swordfish I've ever had! Nice ambiance-pretty restaurant with koi pond and waterfalls and very good service.
