Food was ok...nothing sensational...but the ambiance was everything we had hoped for...
Delicious, beautiful, amazing. Just a gorgeous spot for a delicious meal.
I read a lot of reviews about this place but actually eating there was absolutely incredible. The setting is beautiful, food is amazing and staff is wonderful. Being surrounded by water (koi pond and waterfalls) is so tranquil and the food was delicious. Will definitely come back.
We were excited to spend an evening out together on a date night. The table we were sat at had incredibly low chairs.. my husband felt like a child seated at the table... they were def cool looking and we loved the location of the table, near the interior pond.. the cocktail he ordered wasn't quite up to snuff and the food was good (husbands Ahi was rare when he ordered med rare and my fish was over cooked) but for the price it should have blown us away. I just feel like heading out of the hotel to eat would be more worth while or picking something up and dining it on your patio would have been the way to go... the value-ratio just wasn't there for us. One of the more disappointing expenses of our trip.
Excellent service, beautiful restaurant. Prime rib and chocolate molten cake amazing!
We recently chose Tidepools to celebrate our silver wedding anniversary at. Food was extremely good and the service, location and friendly staff were outstanding. Thanks for making our special day memorable.
Amazing in all ways. Great food, amazing setting. Yum. Worth the expense, which is considerable!
Vacation dining and absolutely enjoyed it! Always a favorite and not disappointed. Glad to see the enhancements to the bar and the hostess station.
Great atmosphere, great food, great service! A favourite of ours when in Kauai!
Everything was wonderful, the food, the service. I will highly recommend this place
Excellent food and service. Jocelyn was very friendly, attentive and efficient. The koi were very entertaining. Also, a very nice touch was having the car ready for us when we came upstairs.
The food was amazing. A big splurge for us. We initially didn't have a reservation but were told they took walk ins when I called. We walked in and were told we could eat in some lounge type area, definitely not the ambiance I was looking for. We walked away and were going to leave, but looked on OpenTable again and there was a reservation available all of a sudden. So we made it online and walked back over, then were taken to the dining room almost immediately. They almost lost our sale, not a good system of knowing open tables direct in the restaurant in my opinion.
Les made our experience great!!!!
Everything was excellent.
Great service! Cool location!
Great service. Delicious food. Loved the location and view of koi pond.
A special place for a special occasion. On the pricey side but everything was on the spot. Very relaxing. I've never taken two hours to eat my dinner but it was quite pleasant. Our table was out on a peninsula away from the other patrons. At first I wondered if we were going to be remembered but the wait staff knew when to come to the table. We ate at a leisurely pace and never felt rushed. We always had food in front of us.
Marvelous meal, special setting, service efficient though sarcastic comments were not appreciated.
Great dinning experience, food was excellent
Great food and service. Recommended for any occasion
We loved Tidepools! Everything about our dinner was perfect. The setting with the koi swimming around us was magical. Wilma our server was fabulous! And everything we ordered was delicious. The kids were super happy as well. Overall, a lovely dinner, and we will be back on our next trip.
It was ok but nothing special. Wished we would have went back to RumFire.
This was supposed to be a 50th bday celebration dinner for which we made the trip to Hawaii(Kauai). We wanted a special dinner and chose this place as we were also staying at the hotel. Unfortunately, it failed on all fronts. We had an 8:00 p.m. reservation for a place that closes at 9 p.m. on a Saturday night so the restaurant was not busy by the time we ordered. We did get both seafood specials and chicken. It started with the waiter not coming by at all once the food was ordered. We had to ask the water server to place additional drink orders. Then we ended up waiting over 45 minutes for three dinners and out waiter did not come by until 35 minutes later to tell us there was a delay. As mentioned, the restaurant pretty much emptied out by 8:40 so there’s was no excuse for such a lengthy wait, with no waiter or explanation. Then when the food was finally brought to our table, all but one dish(red snapper) was over cooked(chicken and another fish dish special) and room temperature. We did not want to have them remake it as it was now an hour into waiting. We were beyond disappointed to have our last evening and dinner which was also the birthday dinner be such a failure except for the ambience. Towards the end of the meal, the manager did come by and offer apologies for the long delay and when asked about the food, we let her know about the quality of the food. In the end they did not charge for the two meals that were over cooked and provided desserts which would have been a little over $100. That was fair, but it did not take away from the fact that we will not have a positive memory of what was suppose to be a special/milestone birthday dinner for which we made the trip to Kauai to celebrate.
Overpriced. Bland fish special ($55!). Fatty, chewy medium rare rib-eye. Very skimpy kids meal. Disinterested service. MAJOR disappointment.
Bottom line, amazing! Les was our server and he was absolutely terrific!
Delicious red snapper and opah entrees and beautifully plated. Heart of palms salad was a lovely starter. The service was outstanding, our waitress Wilma was perfect.
Amazing food and location! Perfect date night for our anniversary. The special with tempura asparagus was amazing!!
Amazing setting. The food and service were fabulous.
Lovely food - the fish and prime rib were nicely prepared . Nice scenic views enhance your dining experience.
Drinks are over-priced. I’ll go again for the meal only.
Crab cakes are fabulous.
Beautiful setting, great service and delicious food. Highly recommended!
Would loved to have had a more scenic view of water from our table. They knew it was our 47th Anniversary weeks in advance.
Highly recommend this restaurant if you're in Kauai! Delicious food and drinks! Beautiful setting and a wonderful staff! We had a large group with some dietary restrictions and the manager and server were SO helpful with making the arrangements even though it would be challenging.
The setting is beautiful and the service was solid. Our table was placed on a walkway with poor lighting so it was difficult to even see our food. The crab cakes were terrific! Sadly, the mahi-mahi was lacking any flavor and the fish and lobster tail as part of the Hawaiian Catch was over cooked. Not our best meal on the island by far!
Good location. Friendly staff. Mediocre food at very expensive prices.
No value there for me.
Stunning setting with the koi swimming past the tables. Wonderful service and delicious food. Could not have asked for a better way to celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary.
The Tidepools is a beautiful restaurant situated among a stunning, vast koi pond. The food was excellent as expected, however, what needs mentioning is the outstanding service our waiter Les provided. Les was so knowledgeable about the menu, the ingredients and preparation. The enthusiasm he shared when explaining the dishes, the layering of flavors we might except , was informative, interesting and educational. It was apparent Les took pride in the service he provides and had great respect and admiration for the chefs and their culinary craft. I do hope you all are lucky enough to be seated at one of Les’ tables; you are in for a rare treat.
Service and pace of the meal was horrible. But the food was delicious and view outstanding.
Great service. Great food. Love the fish dishes. Casual but fine dining.
Beautiful restaurant, and best koi pond I have ever seen. Unfortunately, our waitress seemed to be swamped by way too many tables. Took about 20 minutes just to get her to ask what we would like to drink.
Food was nothing special as well, especially for the price. Crabcakes had no flavor, and the prime ribs we had were average.
Would most likely not come back, even though the koi were truly special.
