Les is MORE!!! Les (aka “by the way”)was our outstanding server who made us feel like a guest in his own home. We will always ask for Les going forward! He made the experience unforgettable and highly recommend Tide pools. Hyatt, please give Les a big deserving raise!!!
We went because we heard it was a romantic place but that was not the case. It was very loud and we were seated next to a few large groups and families with kids. If they claim to be a “romantic” place, they shouldn’t seat couples in the same area as large groups and/or kids when there are plenty of other tables. They also sat us at a table that had these chairs that you sunk into so that the table was at our chest. Very awkward to eat. We requested different chairs and they pleasantly changed them for us. The food was very good though!
We had the best table great view great service as always love it here
What an amazing place! The service was great, the food was amazing, and the view overlooking their Koi ponds was perfect. My wife had the lobster and it was probably the best she has ever had. Definitely a good place for a special dinner.
3rd time dining here. Wife’s birthday, so special occasion. Made rsvp 3+ mos in advance, for an early dinner, stating the occasion and requesting a table in alcove for intimacy. We were seated at probably one of the worst tables, with high traffic of staff and guests walking by. So much for intimacy. My fault for refusing to accept this table. Service was very good from start to finish. Unfortunately, the food was disappointing this time. We had crab cakes and salad to start. Both were underwhelming. On previous visit crab cakes were excellent, filled with lump crab meat. This time, I believe the crab came out of a can, as it was indistinguishable from the filling. I don’t mind spending $22 for two crab cakes, as long as they contain crab. I had the chef’s catch daily special, swordfish with prawn and scallop. My wife had the fillet mignon and lobster tail. Swordfish was over done / dry, which happens when you over cook swordfish... Previous dining included fillet and lobster, so was expecting a great meal. Didn’t happen this time. Fillet was thin, ala ribeye thickness, not what you expect when you order a fillet. Medium rare order was also over done - the result of a fillet cut toooo thin to be a fillet. We told our waiter about previous crab cakes, some of the best we ever had, and how current version was not good. He apologized - what else could he do. Free dessert. Lava cake. Nice of him to do. We love staying at the Hyatt, and we will stay here again. But it is very disheartening to realize current mgmt / owners feel maximizing profits are more important than making happy customers. When you are willing to spend $200+ on dinner, I don’t think it’s too much to ask for quality food to go along with the great service and location. The latter two don’t make up for the former. I rated service 5 stars, because front of house staff was great. Ambiance is great - if you get an outer table.
Great service and amazing food in a brilliant location
Great ambience. Food was slow to come out after appetizer. Servers were great. For the price, food was good, not amazing.
Great ambience, attentive waiter--went the extra mile to please, good lemon drops, quality of food excellent. All in all a pleasant night.
Great setting, top notch service from Andrew and his helper... highly recommended ...
I’ve never written a review before but I’ve never had an experience like this before. Everything was perfect; the food, the table and especially our waiter Les. What a treat! He knew everything about everything on the menu and explained it in a way that was both entertaining and incredibly informative. The food was excellent and the ambiance great. I can’t recommend the Tidepools more passionately. It was our 30th anniversary and I couldn’t have asked for a better meal in a better place. We’ll be back. For sure.
Enjoyed the three different meals we had. Service was friendly and took care of us in a timely manner.
You can't beat this place for a romantic setting. The food was excellent and although pricey, it was worth every penny. What made our night even more spectacular was being waited on by Les. The most kind and authentic person who treated us like we were ohana. We will definitely be back and will request Les as our waiter.
The details to ambience is absolutely the best. Beautiful seating next to the water. Incredible detail to the architecture. And a cuisine suitable to the Westin. Flavorful and good presentation.
My new favorite restaurant! Beautifully done. Very romantic.
We had such an amazing dinner here on our last night of our vacation. Our waiter was fantastic (Les I believe), describing every dish so well I wanted everything on the menu! I had the Macadamia Crusted Mahi Mahi and it was delicious! It was a glaze instead of your typical dry crusted topping. There really isn't a bad seat in the place and the ambiance is tropical and cozy. We had my two young children with us and they loved watching the koi fish & turtles in the water as we ate dinner. Plus, they offered a kids menu which was appreciated. Would return in a heartbeat.
Great location and service. Unfortunately food is average/not that special considering the price.
Wonderful gluten free dinner options, the Mahi Mahi was amazing, so many special flavors. The ambiance is unique, and worth the splurge. The dining areas are nicely broken up with views of waterfalls, ponds, and the ocean.
Honeymoon. Place was awesome
Our server was amazing. Beautiful location we sat in front of waterfall. The ahi with scallops dish was outstanding!
The views all around are great, sitting atop a fish pond a nice touch. Chairs were quite comfortable. Only detractor is the waterfall - it’s a little noisy, so ask to be seated away from the waterfall if you don’t want to have to talk loudly. Food was good but not exceptional. We had the braised pork appetizer and the filet. I know they are proud for sourcing local beef, but it’s no competition to a prime cut such as you would get at Ruth Chris.
Food was okay, but seemed over priced. The staff was not very friendly
Still feel this is the best place to eat on the island. Romantic island ambience with great food and good service. Usually eat here twice while we are here. Love it.
The setting was beautiful and romantic. Service was excellent. They always filled your glass with water. I'm not a great seafood eater but tried the mahimahi and it was delicious. The lava flow cocktail was so yummy! Definitely recommend this restaurant!
Nice restaurant, good service, good food. The water in which the Koi pool is disgusting. There is foam all around which makes for unappetizing atmosphere.
Go with the seafood, my wife's Ahi Tuna and scallops was delicious. The Rib-Eye was not what I would consider steak house price worthy, overcooked on the first try, slightly under on 2nd (i ordered medium) and the price was NY/LA steakhouse price ($48) ala carte for maybe 14 oz (wasn't advertised as particular oz).
I have the Forbidden Rice lots a great flavor! We had the Molten Chocolate Lava Cake for dessert and it was fabulous FYI if you want this for dessert order it when you order your entree as it takes a little while to make.
Great service, good food, great wine recommendations by the manager. Worth the visit.
Always a pleasure to eat!!
Great location, great atmosphere, love the pond with the fish, prices were reasonable. We would definitely go back next time in Maui
Food and service were fantastic! Such a beautiful location and design.
Desapointed. We arrived on time and there where no place ready for us. After a while at the bar (jack daniels and french champagne on our count) we were placed in a corridor as far as possible from the night view. There were other free tables so we asked for Moving.
After moving we had a good but nothing awesome dinner regarding the price
Once we didn’t order alcohol our waiter seemed to become detached and not as friendly. All of the food, steaks and seafood, were lukewarm to cool. The food should have come out hot. This was disappointing for the price point and the recommendations. The positives were the hostess and the busboy. Our water was consistently filled and plates taken away promptly. Bread was excellent.
Really enjoyed the view of the gardens with the torches. The food was great, especially the candied Ahi, it was exquisite. The meal I had was the sampler of the three fish of the days, the fish was good however the rice/pasta (not sure which it was) was not the greatest. I also enjoyed the poblano Parmesan soup. Overall quite happy and would come back!
Beautiful setting, outstanding service, wonderful food. We make it a priority to dine there every time we're on the island.
Tidepools is stunning. And perhaps that makes up for the overpriced food. Which is good, bordering great- but we did not find to be particularly special.
Stick with the seafood, which was better than the steak.
Still great option for a romantic dinner.
Perfect spot for date night. Lovely atmosphere and friendly staff. Service was above standard, and food was amazing! The prices are what to be expected for fine dining. I would return!
Fantastic spot in the Grand Hyatt. Excellent service and food; priced at what you should expect for a top resort restaurant on a small island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. 5/5 would go again.
Decor dated but still pretty, service is great but food is really not very good. Fish was overcooked, steak was not right temperature (asked for medium rare and was well done). Overall not worth true price.
Best dining in the island. Food and service was out of this world.
