Delicious food, romantic atmosphere by the pond. Service quite good but not spectacular. Incredible setting! Loved the malasadas!
We are staying at the Grand Hyatt Kauai and this restaurant is located on property. It sits semi open air on the middle of a large koi pond. The Open Table reservation had us seated right on time.
The service was very slow. Their organization has only certain wait staff designated to take orders. This made things very inefficient.
The food is quite excellent. I had the prime rib which was medium rare as ordered. The four of us all had something different and nobody was unhappy with their choice.
The only issue with ambiance is that the place is close to the beach and the pool so although prices would pit this as one of the more expensive places to eat the are people dressed in beach attire.
Great dining experience!
Beautiful romantic setting with excellent service. Can't beat the view and the food was amazing. Great for a special occasion.
She just deserved it!
Food was excellent, service was outstanding. Expensive, but worth it for the occasional perfect night out on Kauai.
Tidepools is a wonderful upscale dining experience. The fish is prepared and served perfectly, and the accompaniments are delicious as well. The prices reflect the quality of the experience. Perfect for a special "WOW!" occasion.
Great food and service. Good choice for special occasions
This is a very special place. The food is excellent and the ambience is wonderful. It is romantic. We eart here every Valentine's Day.
It was an amazing night for the 6 of us. Venison was delicious, crab cakes were great and the bottle of Champagne just topped it all off. Service was stunning. Ty for a great Valentine's night and it was our Anniversary. They gave us crem brulee on the house. Great Time. Mahalo
Excellent food and service in a romantic setting, but very expensive (overpriced)
My wife and I went to Kauai for our 30th Anniversary. We went to Tidepools for our anniversary dinner. The place is amazing and the food we fantastic.
Great food, staff was excellent . Noise level a little high
Great ambience! Our meal was perfect!! ROMANTIC! Jimmy, from Torrance California and the Manager was friendly and does a great job! We will come back again!
Excellent service, food and atmosphere! I highly recommend this restaurant.
My brother and I and spouses took our parents on vacation to Kauai (Hawaii being the only state they hadnt seen) our last dinner for my dads 75th birthday could not have been more perfect. We each had a different entree and none of us were disappointed! Embience and service were top notch
We were seated late in the low slung back chair section. Our waiter had to add butt pillows for height which helped some. I am 6'2, wife is 5'7.
Having enjoyed the fresh fish elsewhere for 5 days, we opted for steak. I ordered the 30 day dry aged steak that was not aged unless you count defrost time. My wife ordered "medium" fillet that arrived well done. Then our waiter disappeared.
We had to tackle the poor hostess twice to get our check. Finally the waiter trotted bye asking if "we had room for dessert" without waiting for an answer.
Here is our answer. No, we will skip dessert.
I was disappointed with Tidepools. We waited 15 minutes to be seated despite having a reservation. The waiter brought rolls with truffle butter. The truffle butter was good, the rolls were ok. We waited 15 minutes for our bottle of wine and another 10 or so to order. We ordered the tempura shrimp and ahi appetizer. We were expecting tempura shrimp and some kind of tempura ahi. We received a sushi roll that had been dipped in tempura batter and fried. The ahi was raw (I don’t do raw). My wife tried this and said it was good. I told the waiter I did not do raw and he agreed to bring crab cakes for me instead. The crab cakes were full of crab but seemed like they had been rushed out and were not fully cooked. I ordered the catch of the day-blackened hamachi and shrimp. The fish was well cooked. The shrimp were very salty. My wife ordered the Hawaiian catch. Her lobster was undercooked and very salty. The fish was well cooked. Overall just not impressed. The service was not good and we saw the waiter take orders from other tables who had arrived after us. I think he sensed our displeasure (or that he had not provided the best service) as he brought us a complimentary molten chocolate cake. The menu specified that it took 15 minutes to make so it needed to be ordered with dinner-we did not order it. It was good.
Service by Wilma was outstanding! Fantastic food, romantic setting!
Had an excellent meal here. Recommend the Opah if they have it. Very nice dish. Great ambiance and if you get a good table, a nice view. Service was above average.
Only had appetizers and dessert but eccellent
Beautiful setting. Amazing food. Wonderful service!
This is a restaurant in a beautiful setting. The food we had (prime rib) was underwhelming yet expensive. Instead of being served with the traditional jus it had some sort of bland brown gravy like substance on it. It was also tough and lacking in seasoning and luke warm. The service was a little too casual for an upscale dining venue in my opinion.
Bottom line, if you are going to pay premium prices for a dining experience you should receive that level of quality of food and service.
Excellent in every way. The foie gras and prime rib were outstanding.
Amazing and romantic dinner! Food was exquisite and beautifully prepared. We highly enjoyed our dinner and will be back the next time we are on the island!
Tidepools at the Grand Hyatt is the premier restaurant on Kauai. Food quality, ambiance and service were excellent. The walk from the hotel entrance to the tables is quite lengthy and a bit rigorous. However, an alternate route is available for those that would have difficulty with the normal route.
Great anniversary meal . We had an outstanding table with great food, outstanding service.
Lovely setting with wonderful food. A bit pricey but it is Hawaii
Food was fantastic with local fish and the setting was incredible. Service was a little lacking for what we paid and of course resort prices. Would still go again but only if staying at the Hyatt or nearby.
