Food was mediocre. Filet mignon was dry and seafood platter was bland. Service was fine.
Wonderful food, great service
We thoroughly enjoyed our experience at Tidepool. Wait staff were friendly, efficient and knowledgeable. This was our second visit and we brought friends who were in Hawaii for the first time. Dining over the koi pond was special indeed.
Great all around!!
We’ve been coming here for several years each time we come to Kauai. Always a favorite as they consistently provide a great experience with both their service and food quality. The crab cakes are a great appetizer and my wife and I had the Mahi-Mahi and Opah dishes. Both were fantastic! Wilma was our server for the night and she did a great job. Was low key and took great care in making sure we had a great night. Brought us the flourless chocolate cake on the house as we were celebrating our 36th wedding anniversary.
Look forward to coming back!
All four meals were mediocre. Usually the food is much better. It seems to have gone downhill since the last time we were here.
People were excellent, food was ok — expected bettet
Beautiful restaurant for a special dinner with friends vacationing together in Kauai. The ambiance and service were above and beyond. But I was so incredibly disappointed with my food that I can’t get passed it. I had the Hawaiian special and not only was the seafood overcooked but it was incredibly salty to the point of being inedible. I really did like the ceviche and the malasadas but it still wasn’t outstanding enough to warrant the price.
Exceptional dinner - great food and scenery. Sat in the waterfall room and it was perfect!
Beautiful setting, excellent service, creative cuisine, artful presentation.
Baby moon! Our server Les was very attentive and very knowledgeable about the menu. He was a cool down to earth guy that embodies the aloha spirit. Food was excellent! Special touches made it flavorful and the restaurant is nice!
Beautiful spot for romantic dinner. Surrounded by koi ponds.
Perfect. Great food great service defiantly go here!
Memorable, delicious food
The food was very good. Enjoyed the Mai Tai, also. It was our friend’s birthday and they brought him a lava cake with ice cream and doughnuts to share with dipping sauces. They were excellent. They didn’t even charge us.
We went here on our honeymoon on recommendation from the manager at our resort (not the Grand Hyatt). The setting is beautiful, tranquil, and elegant. Our waiter was very friendly and knowledgeable. He was was the perfect balance of making sure our needs were met without stopping by all the time to ask “do you need anything”. The food was fantastic. Presentation was excellent. Flavors were vibrant and balanced. You have to order the lava cake. It is the best I’ve had. 10/10 and will be going back next time we’re on the island.
Dissapointed in change of ambiance. Bright lighting at night detracts from fine dining experience. Setting with koi ponds, waterfalls, and tropics has so much more potential for both romance and tranquility. Food was good, not inspirational. Service excellent.
Absolutely phenomenal experience. Had beautiful sunset and quiet dinner. Would recommend this to anyone looking to take someone on a date!!! Service was tremendous... Even put the food on the warmer so we could view the sunset before partaking the wonderful food.
It was very nice, a little bit on the expensive side. The decor could use some updating.
Not worth the price tag at all. The atmosphere was nice though.
Food was quite good, but somewhat pricey. Service was outstanding. Our table was close to a waterfall which, while picturesque, was rather loud and made conversation difficult.
Les was fantastic as our server! We had the most awesome dining experience with great flavors! Ambiance for anniversary was amazing! Highly recommend.
Amazing food. One of, if not the best, Mahi Mahi dishes I’ve ever had. Amazing ambiance. It’s a beautiful restaurant. I have no complaints.
Fabulous preparation of fish with many choices on the menu. Location beside Koi ponds is very nice. Service was friendly, quick, and efficient. Noise level was low so we could easily carry on a conversation. A bit pricey, but the food is outstanding.
Enjoyed it so much we’re trying to reserve a table for this evening
Beautiful waterfall side seat for our 35th anniversary. Pricy but worth it for a special occasion.
Wonderful atmosphere, great service, outstanding food.
Tidepools is set among ponds full of koi at the Grand Hyatt Resort. It's an elegant restaurant, great service, very good food, and wonderful ambiance. My wife had the opah with crabmeat, which was delicious; I had venison! I was shocked to see it on a menu in Hawaii, apparently there are a lot of deer on Maui. Very mild flavor. We really enjoyed our meal
Wonderful food, service, & very special ambiance!
Great food and the atmosphere is wonderful.
Great view of pond with fish swimming. Very tasty Thai coconut soup—highly recommend it! I liked my macadamia crusted Mahi mahi. My wife thought her crab cake appetizer was good, but nothing special. The arugula salad she said was okay, but nothing terrific.
Our shared chocolate lava cake was very good!!
Our waitress was excellent!
First of all, you're going to have to open your wallet to eat here so accept that fact or eat elsewhere (the price of wine by the bottle, for example, was obscene). That said, the setting is beautiful, relaxing, and unique - great place for a special occasion; the service the night we were there was excellent; and our meal was very good. Our server recommended the broadbill swordfish which turned out to be some of the best seafood I have ever eaten. My wife's mahi mahi was slightly overcooked for her taste but still very good. The macademia nut creme brulee was the perfect finish to a great meal. I believe our server's name was Jackie - she was gracious, helpful, and knew the menu well; she was key to making our night at Tidepools a special one!
Next to our last dinner on Kauai so we chose Tidepools! We have been coming for 20 + years and always come to Tidepools at least once. It not only met our expectations, it exceeded them. A marvelous diner and evening!
We were catered to by the staff at Tidepools for the entire evening. Our reservation was for 8:15pm but traffic was unusually light so we arrived 15 minutes early. I asked if it were possible to be seated early and was told “absolutely”. Our waiters name was Les and we were very fortunate to have him at our service! Les is a professional in every meaning of the way! He is impressively knowledgeable of the menu, details about ingredients and of how each dish is prepared! Les has excellent communication skills and really goes the extra mile for his guests!! The food was wonderful, the ambience was romantic, and all of this came together to make our evening perfect!!
Had a birthday to celebrate with family while on vacation and we enjoyed our time at Tide Pools immensely. Great food, drinks and views.
Whenever my wife and I are in Kauai, we stop at Tidepools. It is the most amazing restaurant we ever been. Love it so much!
Delicious food, romantic atmosphere by the pond. Service quite good but not spectacular. Incredible setting! Loved the malasadas!
We are staying at the Grand Hyatt Kauai and this restaurant is located on property. It sits semi open air on the middle of a large koi pond. The Open Table reservation had us seated right on time.
The service was very slow. Their organization has only certain wait staff designated to take orders. This made things very inefficient.
The food is quite excellent. I had the prime rib which was medium rare as ordered. The four of us all had something different and nobody was unhappy with their choice.
The only issue with ambiance is that the place is close to the beach and the pool so although prices would pit this as one of the more expensive places to eat the are people dressed in beach attire.
Great dining experience!
Beautiful romantic setting with excellent service. Can't beat the view and the food was amazing. Great for a special occasion.
