Tidepools - Grand Hyatt Kauai
Food was delicious and service was exceptional.
Best food and ambiance in Poipu, maybe even Kauai!
Both of our dinners were great. Served hot, which seems to be a problem with some establishments. The tables are on the Koi pond in the resort.
Great ambiance Great service. Not impressed with the food for being rated so high
Awesome experience, top notch service, and delicious food, that was full of flavors. Highly recommend this place.
Great food, great staff and great environment. Love this place. My steak and lobster was perfect and our waitress, Marta, was amazing.
Awesome exclusive place in Kauai. Amazing food, and the atmosphere was excellent. We could hear the waves crashing in the distance, there was a cool breeze coming through the windows, totally paradise.
Amazing all around. We really enjoyed hearing the ocean in the background the food and service were all on par
Our waiter during this visit was kind of blaa, food was good but during our prior visit we had an awesome server that knew his stuff, which made the experience much better during our 1st visit
We actually went there twice. First experience was amazing. Great food. We sat way in back, near kitchen, but koi pond was pretty, and entertaining! The second night started off well. We just walked in and had a pleasant table... Better than reserved area. My husband repeated his first meal there, Opah. Very good... moist, tender, well seasoned. I had Ahi, and was not impressed. (Bland). We were considering dessert and more wine, but wait staff disappeared. Could not get any help. Finally paid and left. Not a nice end to the evening.
I was traveling with a friend and we wanted to see the Hyatt property while visiting. We decided to dine at Tidepools and we were seated by small waterfall. The ambiance was lovely, the Mahi-Mahi was outstanding and my friend who has gluten allergy was served bread (rare treat for her). Our server was attentive and generously treated us to a delicious gf lava cake with ice cream. We stayed and listened to music in bar and courtyard area for a nice evening.
A wonderful defining experience! We loved it! It was beautiful, service was outstanding and the food was awesome.
Romantic setting. Food was exceptional and service was great. Great for a special night out.
Great place to celebrate
Quiet and romantic with excellent, though limited, menu.
The food was great, Les, our server, had great suggestions and top notch service. Kai, the server assistant also had great suggestions. The scallops were out of this world, perfectly cooked and seasoned
Staff were basically cold. Their friendly chat was phony, including the faux bartender surfer dude.
Had to carry our own drinks to the table. Bill presented without a pen. No receipt provided.
Not going back.
Excellent service, opah dinner great! Steak and lobster excellent!
This place is just ok, the staff is overworked and it shows. Asked to split the bill with our guest 60/40 and wow did they screw that up. When they returned with the bill I was charged $60 and our friends were charged $40 on a $380 tab. Should have paid it and left but I have a conscience and corrected them. They spend alot on training there staff to sell you on mediocre food. Felt like i was at a car dealership. Don't waste your time.
Beautiful location by the koi pond, fantastic fresh fish.
One of the most beautiful dining experiences! The food was amazing and server was attentive and made our experience a delightful one :)
The food was excellent. The meal was among the best we had in two weeks on Kauai. The filet was cooked to my liking, although it could have used a little more "char" on the outside. My partner's Opah was perfection, including the accompanying vegetables and sauces.
Cocktails and wine were pricier than any other restaurant we've tried. I wish I could say that they lived up to the price point, but they were not more exceptional than any one else's beverages.
The setting is unparalled; ambiance wonderful. It was our 25th anniversary, so a great place to celebrate. Our waiter was friendly, but a little too chatty and familiar for such an elegant setting, in my opinion. And I did feel the pace of the meal was a bit rushed, for the pricetag. The dining room was sparsely occupied during our visit.
Very romantic spot. They were very accommodating with gluten free substitutions . Fresh fish was wonderful. Great staff. It was one of our favorite places for dinner
Fantastic place food service surroundings impeccable
For being a high price restaurant i expected more from service and was disappointed. Staffs are noisy next to our table. Food was ok but definitely not the best.
We choose Tidepools as our restaurant to celebrate our wedding anniversary because the service, food and atmosphere is outstanding. Our server, Rob, was friendly, on point, and took the effort to make our evening filled with the Aloha spirit.
Excellent dinner. Service was excellent, however we had to wait quite a while for our check. Highly recommend.
Amazing restaurant setting and food!! We sat overlooking the pond which surrounds the dinner area. Food and service was top notch all the way!! Will definitely visit again.
Nothing special, nice ambiance but very experience expensive..........food was just ok.
We really enjoyed this dining experience. The value was not quite what I had expected, but it more than made up for it with the ambience. The service was impeccable and the surroundings top notch. I felt the portions and prices were a bit out of line.
The food and service were both excellent as was the choice of wines. We both had the fish which was perfectly cooked.
The food is in desperate need of an overhaul. Stick to the basics here. You’re better off to leave the resort and find a really good restaurant if you want fine dining . Where the chef attempts to get fancy by mixing ingredients and tastes fails miserably. Hamachi carpaccio had avocado, lettuce and ponzu type sauce; didn’t work well at all. It was like a top chef episode where the chef panicked and just threw some ingredients together without regard for how it ended up and the tastes didn’t work together.
Same with ahi entree special; whole bunch of ingredients sauces that didn’t work together. If I go back as I’m staying at resort I would be inclined to stick with basics such as simple steak or fish without the attempts at getting fancy. Such a shame because of the potential the restaurant could have with good food.
Nice ambiance. Server friendly but never once asked how the food was.
Celebrated our wedding anniversary with dinner at Tidepools. Beautiful place, delicious food, friendly and professional staff.
Celebrating 40th Anniversary and picked the perfect place. High priced however worth every bite. It's not a place for shorts and saw some dressed in such.
Excellent food and service! A little pricey but everything was so good.
Had an excellent meal! I had the lobster and my husband had the steak and lobster. We had the scallops to start. It was all incredible! Our server was fun and so knowledgeable. Love that the seafood is all caught locally.
Amazing food and service! And what a beautiful setting!!! Will definitely return to Tidepools.
Tidepools was my favorite restaurant for years. I loved the menu and the atmosphere. I hadn't been there in a while and the menu changed dramatically. I ordered the fish special (for $55) and the best thing on my plate was the asparagus. It was very disappointing. My husband's steak was pretty good - still not worth what we paid for it. On the positive side, the service was good and the ambiance is still enjoyable. I just wish the food was as good as it used to be.
Service was good for the four of us. We ordered a bottle of white wine for the table and it was warm. We asked to leave it chilled longer but they continued to pour the bottle even as it was too warm and then didn’t even take the empty bottle away. Ahi was a disappointment to similar dishes on the island but the rest of our food was decent other than overpriced. We expected a better experience for the price.
