Great food and great service! Outstanding customer service. Loved it, totally recommend it!
Went here for a post graduation meal. Party of six, service was excellent. Drinks were tasty and strong. Food was unique and delightful!
The food was terrible along with the service which is sad because I enjoyed my experience over a year ago. I will not be coming back to Tico.
I’ve never had a bad dining experience at Tico. The food is always excellent (and my standards are high; I’m from New Orleans). Our waiter was great; very attentive, knowledgeable and friendly. I was there over four hours with old friends from Florida and he never rushed us once. Tico is truly a neighborhood gem.
Awesome! Tico is the perfect combo - delicious paired with excellent service. I love it for date nights and for dinner with our kids. Thanks for being amazing always!
Great ambiance. Good quality food (although the Lamb tacos are just OK. Nothing great. Nothing special). Great costumer service. Very accommodating to our special requests.
Great food. Helpful and professional wait staff. Amazing cocktails. Will be back often!
The food was amazing. Ivan was extremely attentive. We would definitely recommend this restaurant for a great selection of small plates, yummy cocktails and a good selection of wines. It is a bit loud but not unbearably so.
Tico this weekend was wonderful! Delicious tapas and great service. Last time I was here, I remember an outstanding scallop tapa, which is part of the reason I came back to Tico. Since then, they had changed the menu, but I asked my server if they happened to have any scallops running as a special. She checked with the chef and were able to make the dish for me! Really made my dining experience here special. Will definitely be returning soon!
Solid food and great service!
I'm of a demographic that often gets seated near the kitchen and restroom. With Tico we got both. I was parking the car, so I didn't get in there before we were seated, but there were a number of available seats and tables in better locations.
And things like that shape the experience. Maybe a place seems better because you can hear the music and your own conversation rather than ticket orders being called in and dishes. Maybe the ambiance is more relaxing if you're not at the nexus of server foot traffic as well as potty time. I wouldn't know.
But what I experienced was ok enough food that was a bit overpriced (but it is DC), okayish coffeee, and overly salty bacon.
I enjoyed the omelette.
What I'll remember is that:
1. Everything could've been better
2. Everything could've been worse
The food is a wonderful and a varied feast to your palate. The cauliflower is a pleasant surprise only to be surpassed by the Spanish octopus. All plates were expertly prepared and wonderfully presented. Our waiter “Denis” was a pure joy with his amazing personality and knowledge of all dishes and their origins. Looking forward to our next meal as we bring friends to share in our enjoyment of Tico!!!
I’ve been to Tico 4x and it never disappoints. The food is delicious, drinks are fabulous, staff is friendly.
Corn is a must try, tacos are delicious
Delightful!!! The wait staff was pleasant and very accomodating!
The food was delicious and my husband and I enjoyed it very much. It was my husband's birthday and we also enjoyed the atmosphere and the eclectic style of the restaurant. We will definitely come back!
Highly recommend for dinner - Menu is fun and dishes are consistently good or great. Tasting menu is a great value (but you must be hungry).
Fish tacos are apparently new
Delicious and highly recommended
The rose sangria is refreshing; not sweet like some sangria.
Service was quite poor. Inattentive wait staff that appeared to be stretched thin and a male host that spoke so softly you couldn’t hear what he was saying.
Once the server finally came over to us, she introduced herself by looking at out empty water glasses and making an exasperated comment about *trying* to find some water for us. Seriously? I could tell we were in for a treat. It took forever to take our order and food took an extremely long time to come out. The menu was cut down due to being out of items which was disappointing. The server never once asked us how the food was and had to be prompted to refill water and get us our check.
The only plus side was the food was good (although an overpriced $6 small side of fresh fruit and $4 cup of old coffee was outrageous). But the extremely poor service made the brunch one I wish I never had.
I’ve been to Tico several times and this may just be the last.
Food was great!
The tapas are a bit mediocre, particularly for the price.
As always, awesome dinner. Excited to come back!
I really enjoyed the food. We both felt satisfied after eating the dishes we chose: ceviche, guacamole, shishitos, fish tacos, grilled shrimp, & cauliflower. The ambiance was so loud that we had a really hard time hearing each other.
When I came in I was immediately greeted by a manager who gave me options of where I wanted to sit. As a vegan diner he took the time to ask about how strict I was with honey and sugar, something other spots fail to do. I forgot his name but his hospitality seemed genuine. My friend and I followed my server’s recommendations and had a Hibiscus Margarita each which was good, but tasted like alcohol more than anything. After getting our drinks our server offered us patron shots on the house to lift our moods but later charged us for them (which I didn’t mind but he shouldn’t have said he would pay). We also followed his recommendation for the cauliflower and shrimp tacos because neither of us could decide on a option. The cauliflower was so delicious I would certainly return to visit the bar and eat those!
Love this restaurant... great food and great service :)
The services was very slow. I have been told that the omelette takes 20/25mn to be served so i went with the regular bacon and eggs and we were served after 30 minutes. My friend waited 15mn more minutes to get her bread and they forgot her request of an orange juice that had been given when we were over with the food.
The waiter was apologizing all the time.
The food was so so, nothing special about it.
For a brunch place, there were no choices of coffee (lattee, mocha, cappuccino or else), only regular coffee.
We also had to ask 3 times to get the check and waited 20minutes to get it. Ridiculous.
Service was overall really good. Food was solid and adequate portion sizes. Great value for brunch in DC and the 14th St area.
They were so wonderful with out toddlers! So kind and patient!
Great sharing food. We ordered so many small plates and every single one was delicious. I’ve been to Tico a few times now and it’s always a really great experience. Highly recommend!
Less sauce for churos.
Super great service and food, but a bit over priced for the portions
We are regular at Tico's either for brunch or dinner. Food ws good but service was not. The restaurant was not full, plenty of table open, so we did not now why the service was so slow this time.
I've always had a great time at Tico, the environment is upbeat, the manager is friendly, the waiters are pleasant and most of all the food is amazing. However, I was there a few days ago for dinner and I ordered mac & cheese to go. We left before we got the order, simply because I forgot we ordered some food to go. I called the following day and spoke to Jack and I told him about the situation and that my card was charged for it. Jack took my name and number and told me he'll have the manager get in touch with me. Several days later and the manager never got in touch with me and the charge was still on my card.
Our waiter was wonderful and i really enjoyed the tasting plates we order. The classic margarita was so good that i ordered 4 of them!
Came here for my birthday and I was absolutely amazing! So special.
Came for a post road race brunch. Food and drinks were great. Service was attentive but didn’t rush us.
I have never been disappointed with Tico's service or menu options. This was my first visit for brunch, and it was delicious!! Our server was very friendly and attentive. The atmosphere is perfect for any occasion, especially if you want to have a good time!! We included in our reservation that we had a birthday and he offered Tequila, however our birthday girl was pregnant. Instead he brought us a delicious tres leches cake and mango sorbet.
Another wonderful experience!!
Disappointing food and service.
Great atmosphere! Very fun and vibrant! Great selection of tasty small plates, especially vegetarian friendly options. Wish there were a few salads on the (full plate) menu. Excellent margaritas!
We ordered lots of duck and fish tacos. The best. Cauliflower. Calamari. Pork belly sliders. Hibiscus margarita pitchers. Shishito peppers. Meatballs. Man he go cheese. A wonderful Chilean wine. My brother had never been to TiVo’s and he loved it.
