Love this restaurant... great food and great service :)
Service was overall really good. Food was solid and adequate portion sizes. Great value for brunch in DC and the 14th St area.
They were so wonderful with out toddlers! So kind and patient!
Great sharing food. We ordered so many small plates and every single one was delicious. I’ve been to Tico a few times now and it’s always a really great experience. Highly recommend!
Less sauce for churos.
Super great service and food, but a bit over priced for the portions
We are regular at Tico's either for brunch or dinner. Food ws good but service was not. The restaurant was not full, plenty of table open, so we did not now why the service was so slow this time.
I've always had a great time at Tico, the environment is upbeat, the manager is friendly, the waiters are pleasant and most of all the food is amazing. However, I was there a few days ago for dinner and I ordered mac & cheese to go. We left before we got the order, simply because I forgot we ordered some food to go. I called the following day and spoke to Jack and I told him about the situation and that my card was charged for it. Jack took my name and number and told me he'll have the manager get in touch with me. Several days later and the manager never got in touch with me and the charge was still on my card.
Our waiter was wonderful and i really enjoyed the tasting plates we order. The classic margarita was so good that i ordered 4 of them!
Came here for my birthday and I was absolutely amazing! So special.
Came for a post road race brunch. Food and drinks were great. Service was attentive but didn’t rush us.
I have never been disappointed with Tico's service or menu options. This was my first visit for brunch, and it was delicious!! Our server was very friendly and attentive. The atmosphere is perfect for any occasion, especially if you want to have a good time!! We included in our reservation that we had a birthday and he offered Tequila, however our birthday girl was pregnant. Instead he brought us a delicious tres leches cake and mango sorbet.
Another wonderful experience!!
Disappointing food and service.
Great atmosphere! Very fun and vibrant! Great selection of tasty small plates, especially vegetarian friendly options. Wish there were a few salads on the (full plate) menu. Excellent margaritas!
We ordered lots of duck and fish tacos. The best. Cauliflower. Calamari. Pork belly sliders. Hibiscus margarita pitchers. Shishito peppers. Meatballs. Man he go cheese. A wonderful Chilean wine. My brother had never been to TiVo’s and he loved it.
This was really delicious with numerous preparations and flavors that worked well and were new to me. The octopus sauce was a little off to me, but the octopus itself perfectly prepared. Be ready to order a wide variety of dishes- these are small plates!
A few months ago I had small plates for dinner at Tico and the food was amazing. This time I wasn’t impressed with the brunch. I had the duck hash with poached eggs and the dish was good, but not outstanding. The rest of the menu looked underwhelming.
Great host service: arrived 30 min early to reservation assuming we’d have to wait at the bar for a bit. But quickly space was made for us.
Host read note about food allergy from my OpenTable reservation and brought a different menu without having to ask.
Food and server both were superb too.
Ticos is always a great time. Awesome service and food!
We had Sunday brunch with a couple of friends and their three young children, and there was no problem at all. We were accommodated at a large table with high chairs for the kids. The food we ordered was fresh and very good: the pancake dish was big enough for all of us! Definitely a good place for families.
We go for the fabulous tacos . The cocktails are really great too.
It was a busy Friday night but thanks to great staff everything worked. Wonderful service, great food, I will definitely go back soon.
Staff was warm, efficient and welcoming. Food is awesome! Cocktails perfect! A wonderful spot for dinner in a vibrant, young neighborhood.
Once again Tico was awesome!
The service was excellent from the beginning. Our hosts Crystal and Lighten, as well as the manager Justin were very welcoming. Then our server Wil made sure that our food came on time to be able to make it to a concert we had only an hour after we sat for dinner. A very nice selection of red wines. My partner, my four friends and found the food delicious including the salmon ceviche they served us as a house appetizer, which was delicious. Wil and his help were accommodating with me since due to dental surgery I could only have soft food like the delicious squash puree and very tasty/spicy guacamole. Overall, a great experience. We will keep coming! Juan
We went to Tico for a late brunch and were disappointed. The giant restaurant was borderline empty, leading to uncomfortable vibes. We were bummed to find out that the very limited brunch menu didn't even include guacamole. Our server was rude. Highlights include the hibiscus margaritas and the churros
Food was great, service was good too. Could have slowed down the pace of serving the tapas.
Dessert was compliments of the manager and was amazing, Churros with carmel sauce and chocolate. Would return next time we are in DC. Also enjoyed the music selection.
We have been coming to the DC area for six years for a family spring break trip. We have our usual restaurants for dining during our visit, but this was the first time eating at Tico and it was one of the highlights of our visit! All of the food was absolutely delicious, but the squid ink risotto was the best! Our kids loved the mac and cheese with the manchego cheese. Tico is definitely on our "must eat" establishments now!
This was my first time going here for brunch so I didnt know what to expect. The menu had a lot delicious sounding options so I was looking forward to meeting some friends for brunch. Overall brunch was delicious and my friends and I enjoyed our meals. We also loved the fact that you can make your own mimosas with a variety of juice flavors. No worries about a glass full of juice with very little champagne. Id definitely go back for brunch.
The evening started out a little bumpy because I was told that despite having a reservation. I could not be seated until the second half of my party of two arrived. I was hungry and ready to get started with some appetizers and a cocktail. But once we were seated, the service was great and the food was amazing.
Awesome! Twas a special occasion to celebrate friendship and everything was spectacular!
our server was fantastic--friendly and helpful. Our hostess was not very friendly after we requested not to be seated where there is a lot of foot traffic. We could clearly tell from her face that she was very annoyed with our request. The food was too salty (to the point that we are only tasting salt) and we had to drink a lot of water afterwards.
After reading a bunch of previous reviews I had to try the Hibiscus Margarita. I'm so glad I did, it was delicious. There weren't any seats available at the bar so we couldn't enjoy the happy hour prices since we were at a table. Next time I go I'll make sure to get there and get a seat at the bar.
We were going to the Lincoln Theater and decided just to split a few things. We had the shisito peppers, shrimp croquettes and shrimp tacos. Everything was very good.
Next time we go to the Lincoln we will go to Tico's earlier to enjoy the happy hour prices. Was a tad expensive.
My absolute favorite is the Spicy Fried Chicken and Breakfast Burrito. I have been ordering the burrito in my recent visits but last Sunday I ordered the signature spicy fried chicken. It was NOT the delicious fried chicken as I remembered: it used to be a real piece of fried chicken (thigh/breast), and served with a can of fries, now it's a fried breaded filet chicken, with fried pieces of potato -- very disappointing!!! The filet seems store bought and they just breaded and fried it. It used to be an actual piece of a chicken part like thigh/breast well marinated but now it's just a boring piece of filet I could have bought from the store. I frequented here many times and was shocked to see the change in their signature dish -- please change back to what was before, don't take short cuts. I always recommend friends to go to Tico and to try their fried chicken but I won't be doing that anymore. The fried chicken used to be delicious, and people loved it that made it into a popular dish at Tico but now not anymore. I won't be ordering the fried spicy chicken anymore and will just stick to my burrito. Sad.
Went for brunch. Food was solid and came out without a delay. The atmosphere was great and upbeat.
Great fun atmosphere. Had the couldnt choose/skipped lunch item off the menu and it was fabulous. Did not have a bad dish! Great time, just a little loud for ambiance.
This is definitely a place you want to go with people who like to order a bunch of things and share everything. The food was super yummy and our waitress was so nice and accommodating. They could definitely have a couple more entrees that are vegetarian friendly but I still would go back!
The best pork belly sliders and beef tacos. Super service, can't wait to bring a group back to share the experience.
First time at Tico and really enjoyed it. Great small plates and tacos. Very happy to adapt dishes for vegetarians. Delicious cocktails. Will be back.
Ordering the chef’s choice at Tico always works out great! I love the mix of dishes and flavors!
Amazing experience! Will definitely be back.
