Food was great, service was good too. Could have slowed down the pace of serving the tapas.
Dessert was compliments of the manager and was amazing, Churros with carmel sauce and chocolate. Would return next time we are in DC. Also enjoyed the music selection.
We have been coming to the DC area for six years for a family spring break trip. We have our usual restaurants for dining during our visit, but this was the first time eating at Tico and it was one of the highlights of our visit! All of the food was absolutely delicious, but the squid ink risotto was the best! Our kids loved the mac and cheese with the manchego cheese. Tico is definitely on our "must eat" establishments now!
This was my first time going here for brunch so I didnt know what to expect. The menu had a lot delicious sounding options so I was looking forward to meeting some friends for brunch. Overall brunch was delicious and my friends and I enjoyed our meals. We also loved the fact that you can make your own mimosas with a variety of juice flavors. No worries about a glass full of juice with very little champagne. Id definitely go back for brunch.
The evening started out a little bumpy because I was told that despite having a reservation. I could not be seated until the second half of my party of two arrived. I was hungry and ready to get started with some appetizers and a cocktail. But once we were seated, the service was great and the food was amazing.
Awesome! Twas a special occasion to celebrate friendship and everything was spectacular!
our server was fantastic--friendly and helpful. Our hostess was not very friendly after we requested not to be seated where there is a lot of foot traffic. We could clearly tell from her face that she was very annoyed with our request. The food was too salty (to the point that we are only tasting salt) and we had to drink a lot of water afterwards.
After reading a bunch of previous reviews I had to try the Hibiscus Margarita. I'm so glad I did, it was delicious. There weren't any seats available at the bar so we couldn't enjoy the happy hour prices since we were at a table. Next time I go I'll make sure to get there and get a seat at the bar.
We were going to the Lincoln Theater and decided just to split a few things. We had the shisito peppers, shrimp croquettes and shrimp tacos. Everything was very good.
Next time we go to the Lincoln we will go to Tico's earlier to enjoy the happy hour prices. Was a tad expensive.
My absolute favorite is the Spicy Fried Chicken and Breakfast Burrito. I have been ordering the burrito in my recent visits but last Sunday I ordered the signature spicy fried chicken. It was NOT the delicious fried chicken as I remembered: it used to be a real piece of fried chicken (thigh/breast), and served with a can of fries, now it's a fried breaded filet chicken, with fried pieces of potato -- very disappointing!!! The filet seems store bought and they just breaded and fried it. It used to be an actual piece of a chicken part like thigh/breast well marinated but now it's just a boring piece of filet I could have bought from the store. I frequented here many times and was shocked to see the change in their signature dish -- please change back to what was before, don't take short cuts. I always recommend friends to go to Tico and to try their fried chicken but I won't be doing that anymore. The fried chicken used to be delicious, and people loved it that made it into a popular dish at Tico but now not anymore. I won't be ordering the fried spicy chicken anymore and will just stick to my burrito. Sad.
Great fun atmosphere. Had the couldnt choose/skipped lunch item off the menu and it was fabulous. Did not have a bad dish! Great time, just a little loud for ambiance.
This is definitely a place you want to go with people who like to order a bunch of things and share everything. The food was super yummy and our waitress was so nice and accommodating. They could definitely have a couple more entrees that are vegetarian friendly but I still would go back!
The best pork belly sliders and beef tacos. Super service, can't wait to bring a group back to share the experience.
First time at Tico and really enjoyed it. Great small plates and tacos. Very happy to adapt dishes for vegetarians. Delicious cocktails. Will be back.
Ordering the chef’s choice at Tico always works out great! I love the mix of dishes and flavors!
Amazing experience! Will definitely be back.
Tico is awesome. It is primarily a "small plate" restaurant with a Latin flavor and extremely creative and delicious dishes, with a very friendly staff as well. We highly recommend the pork sliders and cauliflower...those were our favorite dishes. But honestly, you can't go wrong here. I understand it is usually packed (a good sign) and extremely noisy, to the point where conversation could be difficult. But we were very lucky the restaurant was not crowded Monday night and we did not have that problem.
The food wasn't worth what we spent but I had a great time with my boyfriend.
The food was delicious. Very flavorful, unique, and well executed. I look forward to bribing friends and family for the next visit.
The food was incredible! We were visiting DC and wanted a fun brunch place. I would drive back to DC just to be able to try more of the menu. There were so many delicious, unique choices at an amazing price that I could not choose between 4 different entrees and almost just ordered all four because of the great value!
Great food, loved every single bite. Sat across from Sara Huckabee Sanders.
Perfect spot for a special date night! Very creative, flavorful, and not too expensive
More'chata is a must-have brunch cocktail
The food never disappoints. It’s consistent and delicious with expected flavors as well as creative options. And the cocktails are wonderful as well!
Read reviews ahead of time and was expecting better. TJ our server was quite good and recommended a delicious small plate (cauliflower) that was the best thing I ordered. Calamari was bland and greasy. Empanadas were dry. Pork belly sliders were good, but more sweet than savory. Fish tacos were ho hum. Supposed to be Costa Rican cuisine, but from this visit I wouldn't say it is any better than average Mexican. Ambiance was nice and for that I would try it again to sample an entree and a few other small plates. (With 4 cocktails $110+ for 2 people.)
Everything was great.
As always amazing!
Excellent food and service! Our server, Abagail, was terrific! We'll be back!
We selected TICO randomly based on the good reviews, and I couldn’t have been more pleased. We picked the “forgot to eat lunch” option on the menu, where they serve you their best selections from the menu. The amount of food was ridiculous (you really get a good value) and the flavors were unexpected and delicious. My favorite was the entree- melt in your mouth lamb! The tuna ceviche from the first course was a close second.
Overall, 5/5. It was a little noisy, but that’s expected on a Saturday night in DC. Our server (Dennis) was super attentive, and the 6 courses came at a perfect pace. We will definitely be back!
Loved it! We allowed our server to pick our dishes and we weren’t disappointed! We left stuffed and still had a few items to go! This was the small order, so I can’t imagine the bigger one!
Imaginative drinks and a lively atmosphere helped make this a perfect date night with my wife. I’m already looking for reasons to go back and bring friends!
The service was great and the food came out very quickly! Highly recommend it! I will definitely be going back!
We had a good visit with plenty of delicious food to go around. However, Tico management, please tell your servers to stop calling mid-30s women "girls." We were referred as "girls" the entire night, and we were all obviously older than the server himself. Also, the restaurant was very dark, maybe just a slight adjustment to the lighting?
Awesome food, awesome place, awesome service!
Tico never disappoints...
great food, service and ambiance.
I’ve been for Brunch and Dinner; multiple times and always excellent.
I had a great dinner with two friends. Even on a Saturday night during Restaurant Week, service was excellent--prompt and helpful. We chose tapas dishes from the regular menu rather than the RW menu. The food was wonderful; the Spanish octopus was amazing. Highly recommended!
WE ENJOYED OUR VISIT TO TICO. "TJ" WAS THE SERVER, AND A GOOD ONE. THE MANAGER "STEVE" CAME TO THE TABLE TO ASK IF ALL WAS WELL. WE HAD 2 CEVICHE DISHES, WHICH WAS VERY FRESH, DELICIOUS AND A GUAC APP, WHICH WAS EXCELLENT. WE WOULD DEF RETURN NEXT TIME WE HIT THE LINCOLN THEATER, WHICH IS WITHIN WALKING DISTANCE.
The beer was outstanding! This is a tapas place, and we started with the meatballs, brussels sprouts, and pork sliders. All were great, especially the brussels sprouts. Lemony, spicy, buttery. We then moved on to the crunchy gruyere cheese -- delicious thick slices of gruyere in panko, fried crispy. Loved the gruyere, not stringy but flavorful, served with a spicy pomegranate dip. We thought we'd stop with the gruyere -- but we had to revisit the brussels sprouts! Lots of energy in this place, predominantly young folks, disco music -- not a favorite, but also not too loud. Service was good -- our waiter was a little green, perhaps, and he forgot a couple of details, but all service staff/the supervisor picked up the slack very smoothly. Would definitely recommend!
Food was on the spicier side but staff was ready with the water refills and were very attentive. Great spot for a date !
Great cocktails and excellent service.
Wait staff and hostess were friendly and prompt.
Great spot for dinner on a Saturday night: beautiful space, fun vibe, good drinks! The food was pricey but quite tasty. We had a table by the gorgeous front windows and our waiter, Dennis, was fantastic!
Excellent service with a smile! Delicious and interesting array of small plate dishes perfect for sharing with friends. Many gluten free options too. Good cocktails. Everybody was happy!
