Tibet Nepal House Ratings and Reviews
THIS IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE RESTAURANTS IN PASADENA. WE ALWAYS HAVE A GREAT MEAL.
THE VEGETABLES ARE COOKED TO PERFECTION, NEVER OVER DONE OR DISGUISED AS THEY ARE IN SOME INDIAN RESTAURANTS. ALTHOUGH TIBETAN HAS CERTAIN DISHES IN COMMON WITH INDIAN FOOD THERE ARE MANY SPECIALTIES THE ARE DISTINCT TO TIBET.
A Casual Plus Experience
I was not planning on getting the buffet, but my date did so I followed suit. It was small but offered a fair number of options, with a few vegetarian options (a seasoned Broccoli, Aloo Gobi (Potato and cauliflower), Daal (Lentils), steamed white rice), several others with animal protein, such as Chicken Tikka Masala, Chicken Curry, etc. Everything was tasty without being bland, like many buffets are. I like 'medium' spice in Indian restaurants, and this was a little shy of that, but not as mild as some places I have eaten.
The seating is comfortable, but it is all small tables, no booths. The water glass I used had a noticeable chip out of the base, but wasn't worth hassling anyone over.
The servers checked on us frequently and filled our glasses as often.
I ordered the Apricot Naan because I had seen it online on the menu and I love apricot anything. It was yummy, almost a dessert :) Too bad I am allergic to mango so I could not try it with the mango chutney it is served with.
We ordered several dishes to sample a range, but three of them seemed to have exactly the same sauces, despite different descriptions. We asked for spicy, but the food still seemed a bit bland. We will go again but next time ask for extra spicy. Staff was attentive, despite what I read in previous reviews and it was a busy Saturday night.
Great - but small - Northern Indian restaurant
Food is delicious
I eat here whenever I come into Pasadena for business
The yak momo dumplings with dipping sauce are a great appetizer to share
Much less vinegar in the recipes than other Indian restaurants - and I like this style
If you like it extra hot, just ask and they accommodate without making it so hot/spicy that the flavors cannot be tasted
If you like Indian food this is a place to try
Took my landlords out for lunch. Was looking for an Indian place and Tibet Nepal House's timings and buffet option was the most convenient.
The food was great, simple Indian food the way it should be.
Service is always great here. The team is friendly and accommodating.
Several vegetarian options offered at lunch. It was all delicious...perhaps too delicious; it was tough to resist taking second helpings from the buffet. The kheer was only lightly sweetened, which I very much liked. Self-serve at lunch, but the food was replenished and plates cleared promptly.
Only my second time eating Nepalese food and it was fun and healthy. I didn't try the Yak; maybe next time. The vegetables were prepared perfectly. The spices were interesting and the meal filling. I would highly recommend this place if you like southern Asian cuisine. They have an extensive selection of Vgean dishes as well .
After reading about Tibetan Nepal House in a magazine, we decided to give it a try on a recent visit to Pasadena. The people are so lovely and the food was really interesting.
Nepalese cuisine is definitely distinct from Indian, and very delicious. The flat breads were great. Ask your server for recommendations. We had vegetable curries, lamb, and salads. Wonderful with a very pleasant atmosphere. The place was packed, make a reservation. It’s obviously popular with the locals.
We love Tibet Nepal House. I am vegan, my husband is not. And when we come dine here, there's just great food for the both of us. Lots of options. The staff is knowledgable of what vegan means, so they are happy to guide us in our choices.
I love the decor. High ceilings decorated with Yeti footprints that have been colored/designed by past patrons, and an overall peaceful atmosphere.
The champagne brunch seems to be the most popular reason people frequent this restaurant. Out of ~10 parties, we were the only table who ordered off the regular menu. The regular menu is a bit pricey and I would recommend using a Restaurant.com coupon for dining here. Overall, the food and service were very good.
I reserved a table at 10pm but when my party reached the staff said they are already closed. I told them that they shouldn't let people reserve a table at a time when they are closed - they replied unapologetically that I should have checked their website for timings. I will obviously never go back there
I went to Tibet Nepal House with my wife, daughter, son-in-law and 10-month old grandchild. The atmosphere was very traditional and colorful, the service very good and the food was excellent, plus it was very reasonably priced. Some of the dishes were mild enough for a baby just starting to eat solid food, others were intense and spicy. Overall, we all enjoyed our meal and will be back again soon.
